Hi guys,
I'm Joe, I'm 19 next month, I live in the UK and I have been losing my hair for about a year and a half. Up until 4 months ago I never even cared, I had been watching my temples recede but totally ignoring it, and it had no effect on my usual life whatsoever, I just thought when it gets past a certain point, get out the razor and go sly. Unfortunately though depression kicked in as I moved to university, left my girlfriend, and had to start new beginnings and I'm still suffering now. The sad thing is, this time it's not the thought of being bald alone that is getting me down, in fact, like I thought I would be I am ready for it and I have been buzzing my hair down for a while now but only recently have I taken it down to 0.5 with no guard.
The issue now, is the shape of my head, before I just assumed I had an alright shaped head because I have always been happy with my looks and done well with the girls and shaved my head to a number 2-3 previously in my younger years. It seems like a whole different ball game once you get past a certain coverage and I can't help but feel the big dip in my head looks terrible, and the back of my head is just too long.
So, I'm after your honest opinions, is it THAT bad? nobody has ever said anything about the shape of my head, and since having it this short I have done OK with girls, the only thing that I have had negative opinions on is solely the skinhead because people used to like my hair which has left me a little confused. Maybe people won't say anything about the shape? I have purposely taken bad pictures too, may as well be real.

Welcome to the Forum Joe! First of all....... a LOT of guys think they have bad shaped or odd shaped heads when they first shave. Remember... it's going to take a little time to get used to.
We always recommend keeping it shaved for 30 days so you can get used to the changes. Please keep us posted!

Welcome to the forum Joe. Dude, you have a great facial features and you totally rock the sly look. Just be your confident self and the chicks will be falling all over you. We all have something we may not particularly like about our dome, but trust me, nobody is even going to notice. 8)

Joe, welcome to SBG!

Right on man. Looks good and the shape of your head looks fine. Don't worry about the ladies if you got them before you'll get them now. Try the facial hair, so far the ladies love the facial hair. Good luck

Welcome Joe

Thanks for the welcomes and the positive comments guys, great community you got here. Anymore opinions on the head are appreciated because I am in two minds.
I am going fully bald next month when I go over to Egypt for a month or two by the way, I will be able to get a tan, and have my dad show me how to achieve the perfect the shaving routine haha. Before I go I will definitely be using the forums for tips and products to use on the new bald head.

Hey man, it looks legit! Really. In fact, thanks for posting these pictures. I think we have about the same head shape (I've yet to take the plunge, unfortunately), and you've definitely boosted my confidence for when I shave my own head.
Seriously, keep rockin it haha.

Welcome, looks fine, enjoy.

Hey man,
It looks great, and your head shape is fine. I think you're just not used to seeing so much of the noggin yet.
Just stick with it - you're rockin' the look!
-
Looks Great! If you get a negative comment .. remember its cause they are jealous they cant pull it off. Enjoy all of the benefits of being sly .. like having a better since of what the weather is!
-
I think it looks amazing

Looks pretty good to me.

Thanks for the positive comments. I wish I could feel more positive myself, damn balding this young is a bitch.

Looks great!

It looks good man. From a nineteen year who's going through the situation, I mean that.
-
you look great!

The UK needs as many sly guys as it can get!! All the better when they really suit the look like you.
Just think....no more worries about receding hairlines. I have to grow mine back a bit to find out how far back the hairline has gone - and I don't do that often.
Keep up the good work.

Welcome Kent.
I think your head looks great. O0 Remember, you are use to looking at yourself overall. Now you are just focusing on one small part of your look that is different. Don't focus on just the shape of your head, look at the complete picture. We can all be our own worst critic if we want to.

Kevin - Do you mean the OP Joe, or do you really mean me? I know the sly look takes a year or two off me, but to look 19 when I'm 43 would be quite impressive!!! :)

As someone who is going through the same thing, I can agree it's a HUGE bitch haha. But also consider that it isn't really that much of a bitch compared to what it could be, you still look like a normal guy. Honestly, you may get sh*t from friends and family for shaving your head (maybe), but I can honestly say as someone who does not know you (and is therefore not "used to" seeing you with hair) if i saw you walking down the street I would not think twice. The only hurdle you're going to have is transitioning in the minds of the people you already know, which should be no huge deal.
I think if I were in your situation I'd feel relieved!

Sorry about that. My post was for Joe, but you are looking good to Kent 8)
Just for the record I'm about to hit 45.

I thought I should let you guys know that I threw the rest of my finasteride out today. I wish I didn't feel the need to but I sort of forced myself because:
- It causes me to have a brown patch on my head (whatever the f**k it is I don't know, it goes when I stop)
- Morning erections stopped (I used to have them every single morning)
- I suspect I had some brain fog when I first started on it
I'm scared about letting my aggressive mpb kick in, but hopefully it will be for the best!

Sometimes we, the SBG's, get the nicest part of our Holiday Spirit from a guy like you turning away from the drugs. You're going natural, you're going to get in front of the mpb, and you will be in control in 2010. Thanks for the good news--you made my day O0
-
That's good to hear Joe.
Remember, drugs are there to cure diseases, but MPB is not a disease (of course hair loss can be a sign of another illness).
When you accept MPB as the natural way your body works you will be able to deal with it in a rational way.
-
HAPPY NEW YEAR JOE !
Start the new year as a new bald man. Let those little mpb genes do their thing and you will be far more popular than ever with confidence ! Good luck in 2010 ! --Stasiu

I'm going over to egypt for a few months soon, and this is where I plan to put the sly shaving routine into action, fancy giving me a hand on what I will need to buy product wise? up to yet I have:
. Headlube moisturising lotion (matte)
. Gillette razors
. Generic suncream
. Hats
. Generic body moisturiser which i put on before bed
IS it worth buying a headblade? do they take any razors or do you have to buy theirs?
Any UK guys that know any internet sites that sell cheap shavers, possibly in bulk?
Thanks
