Here at work we were talking about weird habits we do, if thats what you want to call it. For example, I cannot wear socks twice, I have to have new socks and when I dont I am uncomfortable as heck and cant stop thinking about it. When I was fishing with a friend this past summer I noticed he had 2 seperate coolers, one for the bait and the other for food/beverages. He was saying that if there is bait in with food he cant eat it. Another weird one for me is eating certain foods like scrambled eggs, they make me gag and puke, its just the texture that does it.
So what are your weird ticks?

If an electronic device (stereo, TV, etc.) has a numerical volume control, I have to have it set to a multiple of 5 (15, 20, 25, 30, etc.). If it has to be turned up or down, it has to be done in 5's. I don't have any clue why, but I can't relax unless I know it's set on a multiple of 5. :/O

I know, for a Marine this is weird...
I don't know why but I hate earrings. Don't want to even touch them and seeing holes in ear lobes is nauseating. I have no problem with blood and guts though! :*))

Well, a couple things, that I think are perfectly normal.
I have to have bills, money bills, $1s, $5s, $10s, etc. in my billfold all in order with the smaller ones first, and all put in there with the bottom of the bill down. Further, when I'm sitting in a bar, drinking a beer, or 2 or 3 or, ---- I have to have the bills that are sitting on the bar waiting their turn to buy the next round, the same way. In order, smaller ones on top, and all facing the same way.
The other one is cans and bottles that are in cupboards, or on shelfs, etc., all right side up
and the labels facing out, so they don't have to be turned to read them.
All perfectly normal, and organized.

I'm right there with you on this one. It's probably the most noticeable OCD symptom I have. Though my lady would tell you different. :/O

So the wildlife or hunting shows on TV where they have to whisper.....AAAAHHHHH!

My wife should read this thread! I thought I was the only one who did this, both with the money and the cupboards. If there are more than one of the same item I place them into rows, and I stack them on top of each other within that row, all with the lables out. I hate it when someone takes something out decides not to use it then puts it back in the wrong spot. :/O

When I'm driving I have to put the volume on an even number.
Whenever condensation builds up in a water bottle I have to turn it over and get rid of it.
And whenever I get out of the shower, when I shut the water off I turn the knob all the way to the left and leave it at it's hottest.

I tend to eat the items on my plate one at the time starting from the least favorite food on the plate to the one I like most. If I have my way, ususally when I prepare my food myself, I prefer to not have items touching.

I do this as well. I have to have the $1s on the outside, then the $5s, then the $10s, then the.....wait, I'm married, I never have $20s. This is called a Chicago Bankroll. The small bills go on the outside because the prevailing wisdom at the time was that if a mugger saw only a $1 bill he would be less likely to jump you than if he saw a larger denomination. I think this started back during the depression.
But, in terms of organization I think this just makes sense. Why dig through a wad of bills looking for a $20 to buy something when all you have to do is open your wallet and go right to it.

With my socks though, my friends thought I meant just wearing them two times in a row like putting dirty socks on again but its not that way. I buy new socks every week because I cant stand old socks. So we have thousands scattered around the house.
I am similar with money, it always has to be organized.
Oh what about food? I cant stand to eat meat that has bones in it, like ribs, chicken, all that.
Some of my 'ticks' suck.

If I'm getting a glass of water from a tap then I have to swill the glass out seven times before I fill it. Don't ask me why: just a wierd compulsion!? :/O

When I leave the house I have to have 2 quarters, 1 dime, 1 nickel, and 4 pennies in my pocket. Normally, this combination is good without breaking a Dollar bill. Plus, my paper money has to be sorted small to big in my billfold too.
If there are so many of us with this trait, then it is not strange, but normal. O0

OK, here's a weird one. When I get out of the shower, I step out onto the mat with my left foot and shake the water off of my right foot while still over the drain. HAHA! top that! :*))
Anything with a digital volume readout, it has to be on an even number.
I don't have any issues with food at all.
I have to eat crackers 4 at a time. Well I mean in a row, not all at one time. I get them out of the box by fours.

Oh another one that I mentioned on the superstitions thread was my boots. I cannot put my left boot on first and I dont think I ever have.

Well after asking more friends I have found out that alot of people are about numbers, most of them have to turn up the radio/tv in certain increments to an even number, a friend has to walk an even number of steps when she walks, so numbers play important roles in OCD it seems.

Everyday I check to see if I'm OCD. So far I haven't found any evidence of it.

I gotta agree on the dollar bill sorting thing.
Other than that, the only thing I would consider "unique" is that I put creamer in my coffee cup first, then add the coffee. That way, I don't have to stir. What some might consider strange, I call it "efficient".
Oh, I remember some time ago we had a thread on superstitions. I said that I did not wear red shirts for golf tournaments because Tiger wore red on Sundays..... maybe I was right considering what that scum bag is going through right now. KARMA IS A BEEOTCH, AIN'T IT!? O0

I feel bad when people neglect their teddybears, they too need blankets! [the weirdest probably.]
I absolutely, POSITIVELY cannot write with a pencil. The sound of the lead on paper and the texture of it in my hands drives me nuts, my mouth dries, I start squinting and then I get really angry and have to leave if it becomes unbearable. Even if someone else is writing with one. I can write with a .5 mechnical pencil though, but not a .7
I always carry a pocket knife, I cannot leave home without, I cannot wear pants without one in my right front pocket.
I can only read a book once, and I cannot forget anything I read unless it is something I am not interested in or about.
I have to have one foot sticking out from under the blanket otherwise I will not go to sleep.

Maybe if I were a little more OCD my desk wouldn't always be covered in papers and the various wires connected to my computer.

The sound of loud chewing drives me to insanity. When it becomes intolerable I leave the room either squeezing my head or go somewhere and start screaming at myself.

I noticed this weekend, that when I eat a ham and cheese sandwich, the cheese has to be on top and the slice of bread with the mustard on top of the cheese. Bottom slice gets the mayo. Don't know why, but any sandwich I eat with cheese has to be that way. Maybe I just like the way it tastes......

You just now noticed that!!?? Only think I see different (Didn't say wrong) with that, is I'm not a Mayo person, but I do like butter on it too.
Just say it a few times and try it once, Mustard and Butter, Mustard and Butter.

Here's a strange one for you.....Every morning when I get on the computer I go to this site called Sly Bald Guys and check the "new replies to your posts" section. After that I feel like I can go use the bathroom.

Ok, ok... My wife thinks this is strange but it drives me nuts when she don't do it right. Sometimes she makes me a sandwitch with the filling upside down. the reason I want my sandwitch made the opposite way is so I don't have to turn it upside down to eat it. I prefer to have the lettus on the top so when I pick it up, I don't have to turn it upside down to eat it. I repeatedly tell her "put the lettus on top and everything else on the bottom". Sounds weird, I know.

Makes perfect sense to me. If you put the lettuce on the bottom, the bottom piece of bread gets soggy...

reading all this made me feel so weird that I just had to turn round three times wearing a dirty raincoat in a dark room and say the alphabet backwards while eating a bag of marshmellows just so something bad wouldnt happen to me... :D :/O

I noticed a couple other things I do that are weird. I keep a rubber band in each coat pocket so I have something to fiddle with when my hands are in my coat pockets. One that my boss pointed out today that I noticed before but forgot about it is when I yawn I always cover my mouth, I dont know why but maybe its a primitive thing like when apes show their teeth it means they want to fight, I dunno. But I have always done it and cant yawn without covering my mouth, I have tried and cant do it.

Its funny these are all strange things...cause I do most of them so I gotta be wayyyyy strange...
- Food should never touch, and I eat one thing at a time...Don't offer me Shephard's Pie :D
- Billfold thing absolutely - in denomination order, and they have to be right side up and heads up...
- I do the OCD number thing too - Volume has to be an even number, and I tend to count in sets of 4. I have also found myself when climbing stairs making sure I touch the top stair with my left foot.
- I compulsively play with office equipment. I never met a paperclip I didn't want to unfold.
Really, I agree with what someone else said...we all do it, so we must be normal :)

Waking up at night and just feel my BALD head and cannot believe that "I DID IT" I love feeling my bald head - -some of the things you guys have said are the same as I do - -The money in order in my pocket, shelves with cans in facing order - -- -but we are organized people and that is the way it is

Ok, not my strange thing, but..
I had some contractors in at work on a project this week. We were working up in the new server room which is in a storage area upstairs in one of our buildings. When the Martin, one of the contractors, and a majorly OCD fella, had any time we were not keeping him busy, he started cleaning and sweeping up the server room and around it in the storage area. He swept up the sawdust from where conduit holes were drilled, organized what was within 10 feet of the server room, picked up junk that was laying around and started a garbage box to haul stuff to the dumpster in, and then swept up again.
Hell, I'm thinking about finding more work to contract with them with just to get the area cleaned up. ;D

OK a couple more for me 1) I can't fuel up any vehicle that I drive without filling the neck all the way to the brim, I fill to the point that when I screw on the cap some fuel gets pushed out :/O
2) When ever I wright anything down now matter what it is or what I am wrighting on I have to use a straight edge, like a ruler, credit/bank card something.
