Title: Newbie with a question
Post by: Test4Eco23 on November 19, 2009, 08:34:38 PM
Greetings,

My name is Jamie, I am new here and very glad to be here.

I have been shaving my head on and off for several years. I am not going bald by any means, in fact I have a full thick head of brown wavy hair. My reasons for shaving my head are similar I'm sure to many people here.  I love the look and feeling of a freshly shaved noggin.  To me it feels so much cleaner and neater.

My problem is my skin is very oily.   My head gets a thick coating of oil on it shortly after shaving, and dirt, dust, etc stick to my head.  If I wipe my head off with a cloth or something I can see all the dirt that has collected on my head.  Does anyone else have this problem and if so what do you do about it?  Thanks in advance to any input.

Again great to be here!

I do not have that problem unless I am being very active.  There are some headwipes out there you can buy.  They are in individual packages that way you can carry them wtih you thru the day.  You might need to do a scrub or something on your noggin each morning in the shower..  read up I think there is a topic somewhere on here about that subject..

booth or table?

Welcome to the forums Jamie.  I have an oily head as well.  One thing to try is using a facial scrub on your head prior to shaving.  Also experiment with different post shave moisturizers.  There are several topics on here about your exact issue.  Just use the search and read away.

I have the same problem, and I use Bald Guyz headwipes

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HNFKOG/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000QSN5WQ&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1CQQTW6RZ63Q1WC8KDYB

Other than that, I also use Gillette Oil Control Body Wash. That gets rid of the grease layer without stripping my head like a wax floor.

Thanks everyone, I will try the gillette wash for sure. I don't think they carry the bald guy wipes at walmart or walgreens here.  Maybe I will try Sally's beauty supply.

Wow, one man's curse, is another man's blessing.  I use an oil on my head after shaving, and sometimes I'll apply a small
amount during the day, depending on the circumstances.  I use Nuetrogena light body oil on my head to help with shine.
I don't seem to have much of a dirt problem, even when I go without a cap.  If that were the case, I would think that the
face, arms, etc, would be dirty/dusty too.  Nuetrogena works well, is a nice, light oil, and works well.  I will even use it to shave with, it seems that after shaving and you can still feel the 'nubbles' it really seems to allow the blade to get closer and fills a Mach 3 or a Headblade.  The oil allows the hair to rinse out freely so it won't clog.  Nice, smooth, and shiny.

Welcome to the Fporum Jamie! Oily heads are something that happens to many of us..... no big deal really. The Bald Guyz wipes are great and I often buy mine from Ollie's Outlets here in the east. I get them there for a fraction of the cost.

Also.......some guys use baby wipes..... which are MUCH cheaper and smell great!

CVS and Walgreens, usually if one doesn't have it the other does. I notices it varies by location. I got sum of them head wipes free when I bought sum other stuff online. I don't need em so I gave em to one of my regular customers. next time I saw him he acted like those were the greatest thing since sliced bread.
