Title: HeadBlade S4 Shadow
Post by: Tyler on November 16, 2009, 02:40:40 PM
I just got an email from Todd over at HeadBlade about the new HeadBlade S4 Shadow that is now available on HeadBlade.com (http://www.headblade.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HB&AFFIL=SkE09&Product_Code=S4+Shadow&Category_Code=razors).

Here's what the site says about the S4:

The Limited Edition S4 Shadow carries on the tradition of the original S4 sold in 2004. Only available online and in select boutiques, they quickly sold out. Made for discriminating HeadBlader who wants a museum quality masterpiece combined with expert craftmanship; the S4 Shadow features gun metal plated stainless steel with blacked out wheels and even a kickstand. The added weight of the S4 Shadow over the plastic models provides a jewel like quality to the shave. The entire presentation makes it a perfect collectable or a great gift. It comes with its own soft travel case filled with two extraTripleBlade cartridges and a HeadSlick sample

The S4 is going for $99, but you can get 20% off by clicking on this link: HeadBlade S4 Shadow (http://www.headblade.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HB&AFFIL=SkE09&Product_Code=S4+Shadow&Category_Code=razors)

Maybe, gotta a find to a way to scrounge up some funds....if all the S-4 owners say what it does it compared to the OG HB's than it might be a good investment.

I'd pay $99 for it if it was a self-guided razor.

Nope.  The discount will be applied at checkout when you enter your payment information.  Don't worry, you'll see the discount before you have to complete the sale.

OK ... I took the bait. Can't wait to put it through its paces. Hopefully the extra weight will make for a better shave than the Sport model.  Thanks for the heads-up, Tyler. 8)

I have the original S4 and absolutely love it.  I had the original HB before wheels and liked it, but the S4 is a night and day difference.  Hope you guys enjoy your new purchases.  I got mine for 60-70 bucks I think; it was 5 years ago, so I don't quite remember.

I wish I could afford an S4.  Besides the wicked cool looks and built-in kickstand, I like the idea of never having to buy another HB again, only blades and adapters.

Nice Ozzie. It looked like the S4 had some sort of "kick stand" underneath. Is that so?

Yes. There are a couple of nice features I failed to mention.  ::)

1. The kickstand. It folds out to keep the blade off the surface the HB is resting on, once you have finished shaving.

2. The finger grip thingy. The part that slips over your finger is slightly spring-loaded.

Sorry I missed your question - The weight is the main difference;  it is the perfect weight to make contact with your head, so no effort or thought is needed, just add the general HB motion... i.e. no 'am I holding it down hard enough,' 'am I pushing on the back enough' (in the case of the pre-wheeled version).  My only problem with mine is one time I dropped it in the shower, and the hinged finger grip is now in a permanent position which I cannot dislodge.  Luckily it's in a position that is not too difficult to slip my finger through although occasionally it poses a problem.

Hi Fellas! I'm new here, just started going sly a little over 45 days now and i love it. My Wife & daughters love it. they even told me " about time dad, you look cool" that made me feel real good  :*)).
about this "S4 Shadow" does it give a closer shave than the regular HB?

Welcome SlyDog!

Same blade so same shave.   Stu's response prolly answers your question best.  O0

I had the same problem. You can remove the axis of the fingergrip and the fingergrip itself. Now you find a little spiralspring with a ball on its top. This ball dislokates by the impact when the HB dropped. Relokate the ball on the spring's top and after some oh s....t, it's so tiny  :Xo! and.... all is new and works fine  ;D.

Good luck!
