Going to shave my head again after letting my hair grow back. I have a full head of hair and when I shave my hair off I get down there pretty good , but still have the shadow. Any suggestions to get rid of the shadow this time and have a clean , totally bald head. All suggestions are appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum Greg! If you have a shadow....you will have a shadow.... but by following some of the tips in our shaving section you will be able to get the best shave possible.

"THE SHADOW" it bugs a lot of guys at first, but given a little color on the dome, some of the tips and ideas in the shaving threads, you can minimize it. Most importantly, keep it shaved, do it daily, live the sly life fully.

Welcome Greg. There's a world of idea's and knowledge here. Post up and intro in the intro section.

I'd try shaving twice a day.

Shaved my head last night . As you can see in the photo , still have the shadow and it is driving me nuts ! I went aginst the grain , with the grain and still have this stupid shadow. :Xo! Not sure if it is because I have naturally very dark hair with no hair loss yet , or because of not having no sun on my head, but it is irking me. It is making me feel like I am not a sly guy with this stupid shadow.

;Most of all thirty days will help you to get used to your new look, it's the "Who's the new guy in the mirror?" thing and all have had it to some degree. Some sun will even out the color. The shadow, you'll get used to it, although some do have it lasered away--removing the ability forever to grow the hair back you remember.

Forgot to tell you, the Sly look works for you! O0 O:O O0 O:O

Welcome to the forum Greg! I share your issue with the "shadow" although, being blond, it's not as noticeable on my head. While I really like that "seamless" look a lot of the guys have, I just love the feel of being sly. Being individuals, we're all going to have some idiosyncrasies with our domes. Embrace the difference and share the freedom, I say. 8)

Something in your routine is pulling all the moisture out of your scalp, which is one of the reasons why you have a shadow.Avoid the big name bar soaps, remember if you are new to shaving and have dark or course hair that can attribute to that as well. Wash with soap that is high in glycerin which is an osmolyte and will help retain or even draw water on the dermis. A good body scrub will help ( headshed, I like the stuff from the body shop ) and get a good shave cream like headslick. Sun/lots of sun, Hot water, vitamin D and essentail fats ( fish oil/flax seed oil ) will help as well.

"The Shadow Knows" that if your hair is still darkly pigmented, The Shadow will always be with you. If you are a blonde, little shadow; if you are white-haired (and white) no shadow at all to speak of. Wait forty years the way I did. Patience is a virtue, so hang in there.

Perhaps its just me but I prefer a little scalp shadow. It tells people that I make the effort to shave bald every day rather than having mother natures version. I look forward to Mother Nature taking over the baldness in time though.

Welcome aboard Greg!
Yeah, the curse of dark hair... it doesn't look bad though! O0

I'm with you on this Tony. I actually don't mind the shadow for the same reason, plus it tells me I will be shaving again tomorrow, if I so choose. O0

I'm starting to embrace my shadow. Tho I'd like the seamless look....the shadow makes me look different, unique and...well....pretty tough when i'm in the gym
who would've thought...that just by shaving off my hair...would make me look tougher...all that time training & eating right...what a waste lol

Reopening an old topic. This morning, instead of shaving cream, I lathered up with Dove Men Care Deep Clean bar soap. Closest shave I ever got!
