Title: Meniscus Tear - Surgery
Post by: dawgfan on November 05, 2009, 08:37:55 AM
Hey Guys,

Anyone here had surgery for a meniscus tear?  I had an MRI last week & it appears I have a "moderate tear" in the meniscus of my left knee.  I'm having surgery in two weeks and just trying to get an idea of the recovery.  Any thoughts?

I'm guessing that it will be scoped........ if it is you should be up and about in a day or so. You will have to take it easy for about a month but you will be mobile.

Only problem I had with mine is the ACL was stretched and had to be shrunk. That put me out longer than expected. That was on the right knee, left may have a tear also. Haven't had a MRI yet.

Good luck with yours, you should be fine!!!

In 1984(?) Joan Benoit-Samuelson, a women's marathon runner, had arthroscopic surgery to repair a cartilage problem in one of her knees. 11 days later she won the women's olympic marathon.
The reason for the question mark is that I'm not sure if was the '84 or '86 Olympics.

...in that case, there won't be any complaining from me  :-X  Don't want to compromise my mancard!
