Twice last week our trash can lids were thrown to the side and the trash was fairly neatly gone thru. Only two critters I know of can get to can lids remove them and do this....... raccoons and bears. Raccoons are not that prevalent in this area and they generally will pull the lids off the cans and drop them straight down. These llids were tossedd to the side.... about 6 or 7 feet from the cans.
Then the bags were sort of gone thru rather neatly. Raccoons are scavengers and generally throw crap everywhere.
So it would appear that we have a bear visiting the buffett......not unusual at all in this area this time of year. One more thing.... he apparently doesn't like celery since all the celery pieces were thrown about ten feet out into the yard...............

I've not spotted any bears in my yard yet, but my friend saw one in his yard this year, about 1 mile up the mountain. Also, there have been many seen in our town and surrounding ones. I'm sure many areas of the country have regular sightings, but I don't recall hearing about bears in Connecticut until recently.
Good luck with the bears or whatever is causing havoc in your yard, Mike. I wouldn't want to face one those furry guys up close when he's pissed off -- like if he dug one of my wife's cassaroles out of the garbage and gave it a taste.
