Welcome to Sly Bald Guys! What's your story?

Welcome to the Forum OC! There are no refugees here.....only realists that have figured it out. Good for you for joining our ranks.

I agree Officerclancy. Welcome to the only club hat matters.

Congrats on setting yourself free, man. That's awesome.

Thank you for the greetings; this is a great site. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks after just wandering in when looking for some shaving advise.
I have been clean for only six weeks. As I said, for more than 10 years I wasted much time and money with
the Hair Club. It may be for some people, but when you look at it objectively, what you have is: 1) you pay between $250 and $1,000 per month for x number of "heads of hair" which they glue to your head; 2) once glued to your head, they style the "hair"; 3) you purchase their "special" styling products (shampoos, conditioners, cleansers, tape, gels, curl activators, etc) for as much as $11 - $20 per bottle; 3) you then are "encouraged to tip the stylist from $20 - $50 per visit; and 4) you are advised to get your system replaced every 4 - 6 weeks. After all is said and done, it's still a toup.
To get you and keep you, they prey on your insecurity. I would say only 60% looked presentable after a styling. However, when they return to get the new system put on or have that one "serviced", 90 - 95% looked like wig-city. Fortunately, I was one of those small minority that it actually looked natural. However, looking natural and looking good are two completely different things. The woman I went to regularly did a poor job cutting my hair- but she was the only one I trusted. So I would go to a barber after my service appointment and pay another $20 to have him cut my real hair. The last several times I had difficulty getting appointments with the two of them and the system was starting to look ratty so I said to myself: There has got to be a better way.
My dilemma was that no one knew I was a Club member. So, if I went clean there was no going back without being a walking advertisement for the Hair Club. In addition, I had no idea how it would look. I decided to roll the dice and go for it. Much to my surprise I have gotten nothing but rave reviews and have not looked back. As a daily reminder, I have the system that I cut off my head sitting on my dresser. I am now happier and significantly more wealthy in a number of ways.
Clean is where its at. ;D

You definetly made the right choice....... and in the Spring when you wash your car you can take the old "hair" and use it to wipe down your dash boards.

Excellent decision, OC! I've found that it's a great crew here. Welcome aboard.

I was scrolling down and looking at the words and for a split second I thought "That's a strange looking head!" Then I realized it was a bowling ball!

Welcome to SBG ... You made the right choice - enjoy your freedom.
-
welcome to the crowd!

Welcome and congrats on "coming clean." There are guys here who thought about HCM, I did until I googled them and found so many guys who were totally bummed out on it. Plus, I would have had to change my barber--if I'm going to change why pay more, not less. Post up some of your experiences. Good to have you here.
-
Welcome Officer Clancy. My story was similar as yours - only 23 years long. You will enjoy the freedom. Sooner STeve

Welcome to SBGs! 8)

Way to go. Hair is so last season.
-
Welcome. Great story and great choice. I saw one of the HCM commercials the other day and I wanted to throw something at the TV. I'd love to have a SBG commercial that aired right after the HCM and told guys that it was okay to be bald. Basically the opposite of those ridiculous HCM commercials.

Welcome OffcerClancy - Sly as your bowling ball ?

Welcome OffcerClancy, glad that you found your freedom. It's much better to be clean and smooth, it's great to see someone take control over the whole hcm bs story.
Enjoy the forum, and your freshly shaved dome! O0

I was thinking the same thing.
OffcerClancy, if your head is half as good looking as that bowling ball, you made a very wise decision.
