Title: Good soap / lotion for the head?
Post by: JasonR on October 26, 2009, 04:50:32 PM
Lately, I've noticed the skin on my head drying out a bit. What do you guys use for shampoo/soap/moisturizer to keep your head from getting dry and flaky?

i still use shampoo but maybe I should stop? I shave my head w/ 0 guard as opposed to using a razor.

Only thing I use is Aloe Vera gel, gives a great shine too.

It all depends on your skin type, and how dry or oily your noggin gets.
I haven't shampooed in years.  I use an undercoat of olive oil under my gel.  That gives a bit of moisture.  And usually after my head is dried after the shower I rub a small amount of lotion on the head.  The scraping of the razor is enough to clean my head.
If I go a day without a shave I'll just rinse the head with warm water in the shower or at the sink and I'll give it a good towel dry to wipe off any excess moisture.  That's all I do, I like to keep it simple.

This is just what I do, hopefully that helps.

You probably need an exfoliator to remove the dead cells since you're not scrubbing or shaving.  The 0 guard has no exfolliating action at all.

Hmm...thanks for the suggestions. I dislike the shine by the way.

I didn't know a razor was good for the skin. Never thought about that.

I use Bald Guyz Moisturizing Gel.  Works very well, but it does tend to leave a shine.

I had the same problem and tried what Paul said: Aloe Vera gel... It works! but not for long (in my particular case).  I use it when I wake up, lunch, around supper and before going to bed.  Now my skin looks/feels very good.  Thanks Paul!
