at the grocery store??
I did tonight. Went to the store after work to pick up something to make for dinner. Walked back to the meat dept. and seen these New York Strip steaks ...4 to a pack. I looked at them again and it said $4.29 or so..
I looked around thinking that price isnt right...and looked at the other packs they had there. All of them between $4 and $5. I asked the meat counter guy ( which ended up being a highschool kid) Scuse me Sir....but are these priced right? He said I dunno...thats teh price on em..so yeah I guess. So I bought all ten packs they had out there. 40 steaks for about $40 bucks...i coudlnt pass that up.
Pair that steak with a baked potato and a salad and you have a $20 meal for about $2 ....AWESOME!

What you mean? Being that I use to work in a meat department...I know how to run the scale and pricing machine..I just slipped on a white coat and went back there and repriced them all!

I ran into something I think is a "once in a lifetime deal," and recently. A few years back, when I still lived in CA, my supervisor at the time let me read this series of books (about 30) that I just loved. Since then, I have been trying to get that series for myself, and have so far located 5, as most of the books are out of print.
The guy and I have remained friends since then, and about a week ago, he calls me up and tells me that if I'll cover postage + $10, he'll send me every book he has by that author. Needless to say, I was tickled pink! I can't wait to read the series again - and I will treasure those books as the out of print rarities they are, and as gifts from a friend.

Long story, so grab a beer and settle into your easy chair....
When we bought our Acura 3.0CL (1997 model, still runs like a champ, 175k miles), we were at the dealership near our home. At the time, we had a membership in a national club associated with our timeshare. The club had pre-negotiated prices over dealer invoice for cars, Acura having a price tag of +$1,500. When I got ahold of the dealer, the person on the phone said "Yes, we have one in black, $750 over invoice" ... Huh? ???
I then said "Wow, $750 over invoice, that's a great price $750 over invoice, let's schedule an appointment". I gave her a couple of chances to check the price.
When The Lovely Mrs. Schro and I went to the dealer, they quickly noticed their error and told me of it. I told them, you quoted me $750 and I'm willing to pay $750. Well, a lot of back & forth, and 3 hours later, I left with the car I wanted, at a discount of $750.....figured my rate of $250 an hour was worth our time. O0

The only new car I've ever purchased was using my buddy's employee discount for Nissan. He works for corporate so I was able to get 3% BELOW actual dealer invoice (yes, less than the dealer pays) and the extended warranty was only $200. I think the sticker price was around $35k and I left with it at $29k out the door for a fully loaded 2005 Nissan Pathfinder SE.
