Hey guys, new here to sbg. I've been lurking for about a month and shaved about a month ago :) So i have been running into a problem. Razor bumps, on the back of my neck! i hate it! i guess being a black guy, i am more prone to ingrown hairs unfortunately due to having thick, curly hair. any ways to fix this problem?

After about a year of shaving daily, that happened to me as well. For me, the fix was to simply switch to shaving every other day.
And, welcome to SBG!

Ah okay, i will definately give that a try! Thanks for the solution Bear!

Hey Tedd10, what is your current routine? That might help us make a better suggestion.

Welcome Tedd! Post a pic!

Welcome Ted! Post up and photo and tell us your routine just as the other guys said. There may be something in that routine that you can tweak to help the problem.

Alright here is my routine. I take a shower for about 15 minutes, allow the hairs to get really soft and then shave in front of the sink with a mach 3. I try to do this about two to three times a week. Then afterwards I apply Nivea after shave balm to protect it, and even on my off days I apply the Nivea just for the moisture and protection. I will post a photo later today after i have a fresh bald head ;D

i had the same problem, i got this cream from my dermatologist and it helped killed the bumps, but it's still kinda reddish. I don't' remember the name but i will get it if you are interested. But i shave almost everyday. Trick is to shave the area that has the razor bump only once and use a fresh blade don't' use a dull one. Part of the problem you might be having is the aftershave you are using because you might be allergic to it and dont 'know it. just try the head slick moisturizer instead. I sometimes still have flareups but it's partly due to my cheap ass not wanting to buy razors cause gillette fusion razors are so damn expensive. happy shaving...!!

Good pic!

hmmm, i will definately look into the head slick moisturizer. and if you could, try and find out the name of that medicine. yesterday, i shaved with my gillette fusion (so damn expensive) and it felt so much better compared to the mach 3. i will definately stick to it, even if i have to pay with my arm and leg haha.
Thanks JR!

Welcome to the forums. There are a lot of different options out there for razors and cream. As well as pre shave cleanser and after shave lotion. Personally, I use Nutrogena face scrub, Headslick, Headblade, and Baldguyz moisturizer. And I'm a shower shaver and shave last, so that way my stubble is softened up a bit from the hot water. You just have to find what is right for you and stick to it.
