After spending a lot of time reading your posts, I'm finding that most of you prefer a shiny nugget. I do not, however I have a naturally shiny dome. Has anyone found a product that cuts down on the reflectivity lof one's head?
-
The Matte For Men lotion and the HeadLube Matte both cut down on shine. I like using those if I know it's going to be a pretty hot day and I'm going to have a natural shine later one.
-
I've been in a commercial or 2 and if I know I'm gonna be in front of a camera I'll take a small container or baby powder with me.
-
Baby powder huh? that's awesome, I'll try it out. I'll also check out the matte for men stuff.
-
cs1..get the headlube matte also...i also have a very natural shiny head due to being bald on top for so long.....i hate it being shiny.
-
It was somewhere on a topic several months back somebody suggested pre-dusting a hankie with baby powder. Sounds smart to me, just I never remember to it :( I use headlube matte and I likey a lot. :)
-
I love it shiny. I use headblade gloss on my head. What does everyone else use to buff the scalp to get that nice shine?
-
aloe vera works pretty good. if you keep it in the fridge it feels good on the head.
-
Hey Everybody...
While I am shiny most of the time, its never really been a huge issue for me. My 'Thing' has always been how smooth it is. It helped me get my wife... and keep her for over 10 years. O0
Peace...

Hey Socrates, Welcome to the forum, but I suspect that your confidence in yourself also played a big part in getting your wife.
-
Dude, I definatly agree with you guys, headlube Matte ROCKS! I am not a fan of the shiny dome in general, my latino Heat is all that I want radiating off me, not reflected rays from the sun! O:O
-
Definitely shiny for me! I use the Headlube glossy and I just love it. My dome is starting to tan nicely now and I spend as much time outside as I can at work since the weather is warming up. I do use the Baldguyz wipes on my dome in the afternoon to keep it clean and then a little more headlube.
-
Shiny is as Shiny does... ;) Headlube Glossy for me O0 I like to get it all shined up to that the glare reduces the noticeability of the dreaded shadow.
-
Shiny for me as well
-

That's an interesting thought. I'll have to try the glossy. Believe it or not I haven't bought ANY HeadBlade stuff yet.
-
I prefer the shiney look. Now that I have become a HeadBlader I am using the HeadLube Glossy which really gives me a great gleam on the doom. I use to be a little self-conscious about attracting to much attention to my head being too shineywhen I first started shaving. But now I have to admit I love seeing that gleam off the dome if I take a glance in the mirror. O:O

I can't remember where exactly I read that theory but I think it was a post here by one of the regulars when I first joined. I don't know for sure if it really works but I seem to get more positive comments on my appearance when I'm nice and shiny.
-
Shiney is definatly the way to go, and not that I'm bayis or anything, but Head Lube "Glossy" is definatly the right product to get the job done. O0 O0
-
Check one more in the glossy column. I like that shine.
-
I love the shiny look also. HeadBlade Glossy does the trick for me. My head shines even when I don't put any product on it though, so in the beginning I decided to embrace the shine rather than fight it.
-
Come on now... I take it I am the only fan of the Matte Look that has a Big Mouth! #3l*
-
my head is way too shiny already...i like matte

I've been using Matte for Men the last week to see how my head works with that. I noticed with the hot weather here my dome is a little more shiny than I like it at the end of the day, so I'm seeing if MFM works a little better. Plus, I've been driving to work with my sun roof open to get a little color on the dome, so the SPF works good for that.
-
I had been using the Head Lube Matte exclusively for almost two years. When I started wearing the nice shirts and ties to work I bought some Glossy for...........well just for the hell of it really.

Similar experience. Before shaving I was never one to try to draw attention to myself. Now, I try to get as smooth and shiny as possible so my new look gets noticed.

For those of you who prefer the shiny look, you might want to try Afta skin conditioner. It does an incredible job giving you a shine, smells decent, is non-greasy, doesn't dry your scalp, and best of all, it's dirt cheap (couple bucks) and is available most everywhere.

Is it oily at all?

Not at all -- it just leaves my head feeling extremely soft & smooth (and shiney). It's definitely worth trying for a couple of bucks ($2.12 to be exact at Wal-Mart yesterday). You only need a small amount, too -- less than a dime-sized squirt will do.
-
Something that controls shine pretty good, are those little clean and clear oil control wipes you find in walmart in the skin care isle. They come in a small pocket size dispenser, and you can carry em around in the summer. I too have that natural shine, and Im not too fond of it, but the wipes seem to do pretty good. Somewhat expensive though like 5.99 a pack................I almost forgot...My wife says I get less bumps when I use the shine wipes on a regular basis.

Mikesj ... anyone ever tell you that you look like Robert Duvall?
-
I see that too... great actor.

No, first time, but only shaving a week. With hair I had been told I look like Robin Williams

Nah, definitely Duvall :) keep the look, it suits you.

Matte fan here. I tried HeadLube Glossy, and it made me look and feel oily. As you can see, my head already has a nice gleam going on its own. I still keep the Glossy around in case I want to try it again.
-
Matte is definatly the Solid way to role through the summer... I have enough Gleam with just the Bald head+this Phoenix Sun.
I Role Matte All year myself though. Natural the way I role )&
-
Mostly matte here...

Hey MikeSJ, with your latest avatar, you now almost remind me of me the new look Rick Schroeder... something about your eyes and eye line area. He currently is on the awesome show '24.'

OK, I'm going to stray off topic for just a moment. I haven't seen Ricky Schroder in a long time. Does anyone else think he looks really old for his age? I just looked it up and he is 37. I actually thought he was younger than that. But he looks WAY older.

Man, He does look old!! It's all that bad hair!! :/O
I remember first seeing him in The Champ...with Angelina Joli's pop, Jon Voight...cryin' and sobbin...ech!! ;D
His show Silver Spoons was on the same time as Joey Lawrence's Give Me A Break.
Lawrence went SLY....
Maybe Schroder too should give SLY a try!!
Getting back to the topic of this thread.
It's Headlube Glossy for me. It's the "shine" that rocks the SLY look!! 8)

Welcome Rafter. I also usually rock the glossy but my head does tend to oil up on it's own so every now and then I rock the matte.
-
I also use the headLube Glossy as well. I like the glow of the dome after a nice shave.
-
;D I'm with Blondeguy on this one. Four out of five times it's Headlube matte for me. It's the perfect head "dressing," in my opinion. But I keep the glossy for those occasions when I want to make a bold and very bald statement. Also, with regard to the "lube," glossy does seem somewhat greasy to me. A little goes a long way. Both applications soothe razor burn. Question: as summer comes on, Is Headlube a substitute for sunscreen, or does sunscreen take its place? Professor Melon

Professor, HeadLube doesn't have any sunscreen in it, so you'll need to either add some on top or replace it with something that does. The only thing that I have found that keeps a matte finish while providing a protection of spf 25 is Matte for Men.

i sure wish they'd put spf25 in headlube... of course this would eliminate the need for you to buy a completely separate product (headshade)...in which they would lose money..so i guess this wont happen anytime soon >:(

Hey Kajun, I've been using a KoS brand moisturizer for a few weeks now that I bought off their web site called K-GL Soother that rocks. But they also offer 2 other kinds of products for an aftershave that have SPF in them. One actually has SPF 24 in it and they other one only has SPF 8. I guess the 24 might be something you are looking for. I've been really impressed with the KoS product line as of late. So much so that I've even eliminated the HeadSlick from my routine. I was using one of the KoS's oils under my HeadSlick. It's called Kinexium Shave Oil. But I took Baldrob's advice and tried it alone and it works great if not better than using it with the HeadSlick. Don't get me wrong, HB products are great but this oil is awesome alone. I'll never give up the HeadBlade itself...It rocks as a razor but the KoS's products are a lot better in my opinion to sooth you during and after a shave. Check 'em out at their web site. Good luck. O0

Kajun, I have to say I stand against you on this one. I think the fact that HeadLube is a Moisturizer, nothing more is awesome. So many of these products out there have so much stuff in them, its hard to find something devoid of colorings, scents, and all around excess. Some days I like rockin' the Head with the HeadLube Only... Those days I am mostly indoors, it enables a perfectly Matte Finish. To each his own, it would not be a bad marketing stratagy to put out HeadLube Matte/Glossy W/ SPF protection.
