Title: Inglorious Basterds
Post by: PBurke on August 22, 2009, 07:26:30 PM
has anyone seen this yet? i saw it today and was dissappointed. i love tarantino. usually enjoy everything he does. but i was not thrilled about having to read 80% of this movie. i feel like with out subtitles, it could have been cool. brad pitt's character was amusing. but for the most part, i didn't care for it.  what are your thoughts on this movie?

Yer somethin of a smartass.  It's ok to disagree with someone, but don't be a putz about it.  ***sigh**

Subtitles are a pain in the ass.  But to each his own.

Valkyrie was a great movie and the fact that there were no subtitles didn't make it any less "realistic."

I like foreign films which for the most part have subtitles.  I don't have an issue with them at all.

A couple of nights ago I watched "Flame and Citron" - a subtitled Danish film about their resistance in WWII and a true story.  I wondered if Inglorious Basterds might have been influenced by it.  I'm looking forward to watching/reading Inglorious Basterds.

check the movie out baldboss. i personally loved it. although its not a historically accurate nazi movie lol. its more of a dark comedy. so if ur looking for "real" events then its proly not the movie for you.

Tarantino made this after being influenced after the Italian film "the Inglorious Bastards"
which was made in 1978. Don't know if it is a remake or follows the same plotline. That could be why it's done with alot of subtitle and hence the name "Inglorious Basterds"
