Title: Me and my big bald head.
Post by: Duffman on August 17, 2009, 11:59:32 AM
Well hey everyone!

New member, and with the other 2 posts I've put up you guys have been really awesome.  I found this joint by looking up how to wax my head... and after looking, I've decided that my pate will have naught but a razor stuck to it.  Though, I did see some guys posting about Veet, they used to have a product (maybe it's still around, I don't know), that came with a rubber razor-type doohickey.  It was actually for men who wanted to use it on facial hair, but I figured that facial hair and head hair are a close cousin.  Tried it, mixed results, smelled like a toxic waste spill, but overall it left a nice shiny head.  Anyhow, thanks for the welcome, and hope to post more soon.

P.S.  why does this emoticon have hair?  :*))

Welcome to the sly way. Not really sure why that emoticon has hair on it. Maybe it is there to see where we've come from?

Welcome to the SBG Family,

I think I already welcomed you in another thread that you posted in, but I figured since this is the official intro thread, I'd welcome you officially! There are alot of great people here on this site so jump right in and make yourself at home. As for the hair removal creams of any sort, we all pretty much recomend staying away from them, they can cause severe irratation and burning sensation, ohhh the pain!!! I know I tried the nair for men, was not a good idea. As for the smiley with hair I have no explination.

Welcome to the forums Duffman!  I have used shaving powder on my face before that comes with the little rubber doohickey.  I have not yet used the stuff on my head.  Seems like it would be a lot more work than shaving.  And there is always the higher risk of irritation.  I figure razors have worked better on my face, so I will stick with that for my head and keep it happy.  :)

Welcome, Duffman.  Even the smell of toxics is enough to keep me away from it!

It actually didn't cause much irritation, but the smell was horrible... as you just said, and sitting there for 10 minutes with that stench... ugh... thanks for the compliment on the head... I wish it didn't grow so fast!

I wouldn't say toxic, but distinctly chemical.  The stuff I have used before is Magic Regular Strength.  http://texasbeautysupplies.com/magregstrens.html  You take a bit of it and add warm water to make a paste and then spread it on the area where you want the hair removed.  After a few minutes you use the rubber spatula much like a straight razor to scrape the hair and powder from your face.  And you want to wait until at least 24 hours after shaving or it really stings.  When done, you have to wash thoroughly otherwise you can run the risk of a chemical burn.

If you want to try it, it is located along with hair and shaving products for black people for some reason.  Apparently they have more issues with PFB due to curlier hair, but I have seen a lot of caucasions use it for the same reason.

If you have never experienced PFB, here is a good link to what it looks like and treatment for it.  http://texasbeautysupplies.com/magregstrens.html  I have had mild cases because my beard tends to be curl just enough where my scalp hair is straight.  On caucasians it looks like a severe acne breakout in the beard region or wherever hair is cut short.  And yes, you can get this on any area of your body where you shave.

In looking for it, I ran across this cream that specifically states it is for head and face.  http://texasbeautysupplies.com/drf604.html.  But I think I will stick with the razor.  the razor seems so relaxing and makes for a good scalp massage opportunity.  As long as I shave my face regularly (daily or every two at most), I can avoid a PFB outbreak.

Welcome Duffman.

If you look at any emoticon with hair, they all look a little "unbalanced"  :/O

I feel a little unbalanced with hair... I started shaving it off 2 summers ago when it went from 95 to 115 degrees out.  I do heating and air, so some of those attics got up to almost 180 degrees... a mop of hair will hold heat better than a wool cap it seems... and since I've been doing it every spring.  My wife demands I grow it out in the winter, but I might just keep it off this year  :x!

Welcome aboard, I must say you really suit it and good to see another bearded sly guy. I tried a hair remover once , got a bad headache and the stink got to me a bit, got most of hair off ,but still had to shave most of it as had alot of stubble bits left.
And the problem i had is you are not mean`t to use soap on the area for 24 hrs or so.
But if it works ok for you then great and enjoy the bald lifestyle.

Thanks guys for making me feel so welcome.  It's very rare to have such a large gathering of men without testosterone-driven posturing, we can all be baldies without having to prove anything to anyone.  Really, I think I'm gonna love it here.  O0
