Title: new here. free from the mop
Post by: Curly on August 13, 2009, 08:11:37 PM
Just wanted to say hello. I have been lurking for a while. Don't know if I'm considered a SBG or not but i took the mop off on may 22  '09 "WHAT A RELIEF"and shave with No guard ever since. I have enjoyed reading all the posts on here. What took me so long to post was the fact that evertime I got on here there it was----THE PLACE that put the mop on as an advertisment So, that was a little frustrating......  I'm from a small town in Ohio called Antwerp.   If I could give someone some advise. Don't put the mop on your head! Save your money. The first few months with it on was ok. But the last 8 years have been a pain in my a..   Anyways, hope to join in on some good conversations.....                                               Thanks, Chad

Hey Chad - a big welcome from here.

The sly dome looks great on you....no one should wear the mop at any age, but you were far too young for that route.

Welcome Chad!

I'm a little confused, what is the mop? is it a wig or something?

SultanofSwing86,   Its a toupee, rug. But they called it a hair system where I went once a month for 8-9 years at 200.00 dollars a month.  They would shave the top of my head and bond it to my hair on the sides and slap a piece of tape on the front. It came in many different colors. Itched, stunk, hard to blend in with my natural hair. I could go on......and on............. If anyone is confused, I'm the one in the middle...lol...Only picture that I had.   thanks for the welcome all

Welcome to the SBG Family Chad,

Of course you qualify as a SLY guy, being SLY isn't just about wether or not you shave your head baby butt smooth, it's about the attitued and renewed self confidence in ones self to ditch the plugs, rugs and drugs and just being comfortable with who you are!!!!  O0

Welcome. Just wondering, in your town of Antwerp are there alot of people from Belgium? When I hear Antwerp I think of the chicken breed D'Anver from Antwerp Belgium, lol.

Welcome to SBG Sultan.  My story is much like yours - only 15 years longer than yours.  Like you are feeling, a great decision made by you and me.   Unless you have been there, people don't understand the guts it takes to take that "thang" off of your head.  Congrats.   O0

mikekoz13---I still owe a couple hundred dollars because of a contract but, the first thing on my list is one of those sly bald guys shirts ! lol.... Marty22---I'm almost 36 years old and single so, that was part of the reason why it took me so long to take the rug off. I thought it would ruin my chances of meeting the perfect woman.  Lophura-----No Belgiums here that I know of. Sooner Steve--------I know what your saying..15 years? "wow" I figured out that I spent about 1 hour a day fixing my hair in the bathroom just trying to feel confident enough to go out for the day. I calculated it out to be 136 days that I spent in the bathroom in 9 years. If I calculated right.

what kinnd of reaction did you got after you got rid of the mop and shaved your head?

Ben32---------Wow, I have had just about every reaction you could think of...Some people said that they didn't know I wore a wig.  Some people said, you had a full head of hair last time I seen you. A lot of times that I went out I would wear a hat so, pretty much everyone was staring at me the first time I was out in public. but honestly it feels better than when I was wearing the wig. I just feel like its me. Its what I'm dealt with. Most people say" What did u shave your head for?". I just tell them that I'm bald. Most say " Thats cool !, you look good shaved" and thats it and  they move on.  It has been much easy than I thought it would be..

I've always wondered how anyone could live with a rug up top. Even before I went SLY it was never an option. Of course I have a few years on you and since I'm happily married I didn't see the need to be a chic magnet either. Welcome to the site.

Pull up a rug and.....let me re-phrase  that.........lol

Toupee's have got to be hard to deal w/ the following toupee's show some celeb's w/ their rugs, and the second is really tough--this guy shows you what it takes to keep a bad looking rug attached--if that doesn't send a rug draped lurker to the blade I don't know what will

Welcome to SBG's Chad, good to hear you finally realized your freedom from that dead hair hat.
Must feel awesome to be gone with it. Not to mention the cost.
Just think of the money that can be saved now.

Now you are truly free, enjoy!    O0

Saintc........OMG that second video almost made me throw up ! I'm serious that was sick..  the front of my rug was like that. The sides was soft bonded on. And it lasts about a month. The soft bond is glue that is bonded into your real hair. So, I never took my on and off, just the front.  ANYWAYS------COULD YOU HANDLE DOING THAT ONCE A MONTH FOR 9 LONG YEARS>>>>>  excuse me I need to go to the bath room and puke....

When I saw that--I almost blew lunch too--glad you're free, and that you found SBGs O:O.  Note to rugged lurkers--you don't need to do this anymore, really ;).

Now see?  You got me to watch the video thinking I would get all grossed out, but that was not too bad.  I got a chuckle out of watching the fake rug though.  It was pretty easy to spot right off and made him look ridiculous.

"I don't want my clients to see me bald."  So, why in the hell did he post a video?  They won't find it?  I personally think he looked more masculine without the rancid attachment.  And it looks like way too much work to me.  It took him longer to remove the animal than it takes me to shave it.
