I know a lot of guys that don't like convertibles because their hair might get messed up, but I LOVE top down motoring, and I've got the hairstyle for it!
Here's a few shots of my current fleet. And YES...I do prefer German cars.

The M5 is probably the best looking 4 door on the road, but I am a "coupe" kind of guy. 4 door cars scare me...one minute you are driving a 4 door, and the next minute you have a wife, kids and dog!
The M6 is basically an M5 with less doors and more sportiness.

Now you tell me.........AAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!! :o

Convertibles are really the only way to travel. I've got a Mini Cooper, and I'd estimate that the top's down more than 75% of the miles. Great views, wind on the skin--can't beat it. O0

Unfortunately I don't have a BMW convertible, but I am proud of my ultimate convertible. HD V-Rod. And you are right- Sly is the best way to travel.

Hmmm. I know that car!
Hey there BaldBoss. I am glad you made it over here. Lots of nice guys and great information.

Love the German engineering!!! Traded my Jeep for a Bimmer last fall... Never looking back!
However, living in the wonderful Midwest, convertibles aren't really worth it since we only have about 3 months out of the year that they can be driven in all their glory... I guess I could always go with a hard-top convertible though?? ???

In the South, I have about 4 months I can comfortably drive top down, but it's worth it! BMW currently gives you three choices on hard top verts but honestly, the rag tops are about as quiet as their coupe counterparts.
Regardless of which model you have, it's a good choice!
Thanks, Baldbear. ;D

We don't have our convertible Mustang any more, but when we did, one of the nicer things about Central Texas is that it's "open top" weather most of the year (wear a hat though!). The same goes for the motorcycle.
There are just those two or three days of winter that we need to worry about...
P.S. Speaking of the weather, we're now at about 50 days of over 100 temps this summer. We'd better have one damn fine winter to make up for this! :Xo!
P.P.S. Much as I reserve my right to bitch about the heat, I'd never trade it for snow again. I could never move back to the snow belt. Been there, done that!
-
Why the aversion to snow? I actually moved farther north to get more of it. My dream is snow drifts over the house like the blizzard of '78 in Indiana. You can always put on more clothes. There is a legal limit to what they will allow you to take off. And trust me. Nobody wants to see this dude with no shirt. You could use my skin to send distress signals if lost in the woods. The only thing even slightly tanned is the arms and face.

I was living in Fort Worth when my son was born (1980.) We had 46 days in a row over 100 and 13 in a row over 110, so I know where you're coming from. The day he was born was 118 and I asked the wife if she wanted anything. Of all the things, she wanted a milkshake from a place on the west side. Took me a cooler of ice and 45 minutes to do it, but managed to get it to the hospital downtown.

Now that is love!

Why the aversion to snow?
When I moved to Texas I had had 40 New England winters and didn't want a 41st.
I could deal with the cold, it's the snow that drove me away.
It's pretty when it's coming down, but it's a pain in the ass in every other way. Especially when commuting during the winter. And then dealing with ice dams on the roof. And basements that flood during the meltdown. And muddy slush all spring. And 2-foot snowstorms in April just when you think spring has sprung. And limbs of trees coming down from the weight. And power outages from lines collapsing under the snow.
And yes, I was there for 78 and I actually had to tunnel to find my car under the drift it ended up under.
More power to those who like the snow, but I had my fill and will never willingly deal with it again.
Nobody wants to see this dude with no shirt. You could use my skin to send distress signals if lost in the woods. The only thing even slightly tanned is the arms and face.
LOL. I hear ya. I'm of French-Canadian heritage -- I give a whole new meaning to the term "white".
