I shave in the shower and it takes me about 5-7 minutes to get a good shave. I always save shaving my noggin for last.
-
I shave in the shower. I've never timed it, so I don't know how long it takes. In fact, I've never shaved out of the shower. I've never watched myself shave my head in a mirror.
-
Different strokes...
I love the shower shave.
Head neck and cheeks, I sport a beard, takes me less than 10 minutes
for the most careful and specific shave I can do.
In the shower I get the best pre-shave, hot water softening etc. Plus clean up is a breeze.
Still something of a newb myself, doing it for a couple of months now...

Mostly at the sink, after a shower. Once in a while, I'll braille it in the shower, scalp only, beard never--much too likely to mess up w/o a mirror.
Although I can strip it down fast in the shower, it never lasts like a carefully done sink and mirror shave--and I enjoy those strokes against the grain in back that rinse out w/ all the hair--neat. I also enjoy the appearance of the razor dried scalp next to the wet and lathered areas.
-
My water bill is already high enough. I shave at the sink just prior to my shower.
-
I'm a sink shaver. Gotta save as much water, here in So Cal, as we can. Plus I like to watch the progress much like SaintC.
-
I shaved before showering for many years. Then, mostly due to things I read here, I started shaving in the shower. I'll never go back! I have timed it many times the average is about 13 minutes. That's the shower, shaving my face in a fog free mirror and shaving my head by the braile method.
-
shower. roughly 10 - 15 minutes for everything

even your arm pits?? Cool!

i ALWAYS shave at the sink right before a shower. for some reason its impossible for me to shave my head without looking. plus.....i only have so much time in the shower before my hot water runs out lol so i hurry up and wash.
ive also been shaving for a year now and still cant manage to shave the back of my head without another mirror. i think ill stick with that technique for the rest of my life. i see no harm in it.
-
btw the fastest ive ever shaven has been 20 minutes. i have no idea how some of you are getting a good shave in as little as 7 minutes.

I installed a small butterfly valve in my shower head. I can take the water flow down to just a trickle or up to full force with a 1/4 turn. Really save water and hot water. I take long showers but only use full water flow about 20% of the time.
Works great.

I only started shaving this week so it is a new routine in development which I am sure will get quicker.
I do shave in the shower both my face and head, no problem it is easy by feel alone.
I use a HeadBlade head and a Gillette 4 blade for face and head touch up areas.
I usually use a scrub on my head first with plenty hot water, then use a shampoo to soften the hair even more.
I then wash my body while the head still gets the hot water treatment.
Then I lather my head and face at the same time with shaving foam. Rubbing well in.
I then shave my face by feel alone, new to this as well as I have been an electric shaver for 10 years plus.
Once the face is done I start on the head with the HB against the grain front to back first then back to front.
Then I touch up hear and there with the Gillette.
Once complete I rinse with hot water and then switch to cold water for at least a minute.
That really tightens up the scalp and closes the pores of the head.
Once complete I get out and dry all of me except my head, let dry as natural as possible.
Then I use some tea tree gel on the head and once dry I moisturise the head and face.
I'm still a bit slow at the moment, but all the above takes me less than 15 mins.
Looking forward to doing this EVERY day from now on.
Have to say that the HB has made for a closer shave than I have had with normal shavers.
Still got the shadow, but will fade once I get a bit of a tan on the top.
-
In the shower always.
-
Hey Ghost, if you wear that t shirt all the time you don't have to shave so much of your head.....should speed things up a bit!! >:D
Parky.....considering you're new at it 15 minutes for that routine is really quite good!!

It's called... Headblade O0

Try shaving by "feel" I just run my hand against the grain in the back, and if there is Velcro the razor will follow.

Yeah I totally agree. Shaving with the headblade is so much quicker. I am also a shower shaver. If a person uses the headblade one of the best things they can do is shave in the shower! The razor glides so much better. O0

I've been shaving my head for about ten years now so I've shaved before, after and in the shower. I never felt I got a good overall shave int he shower but then again I really didn't do it all tha much. As far as before or after it all depends on how much time I have. If I'm pressed for time it's before. As far as time goes I can usually get a good shave including prep etc in under 10 minutes but usually it's around 7. I use a head blade and a cheap disposable for touch ups. DE razor and cheap blades for the face.
-
Been at it almost 2 years now. With the headblade and gel and a 2 blade sensor I can knock out the dome in about 5 minutes. Still get some ribbing for having shampoo and conditioner in the shower but I've found that using both and leaving the conditioner on while I wash up the rest works great. The conditioner seems to soften the hair and moisturize the scalp. After shaving the cold water only head rinse really seems to help, or maybe that's just in my head. Face gets done in the sink.
-
440 I've found, as has been noted on the Forum several times, that conditioner is great--it can even function as a shaving "creme"! I shampoo and condition the beard every morning, and the shampoo says that it "moisturizes" so I rub some on the stubble, shampoo first w/ some soap and the loofha, then rinse and put the conditioner on and rub some on the stubble. After I rinse off, I rinse the conditioner out of the beard, but leave it on my dome, cover it with a hot rinsed face cloth, dry off and then just before I do the lather, I take off the cloth and add the Headslick and baby oil to the dome on top of the conditioner. Very effective, smooth dome until at least 5 or 6p, if, and only if, I've done the gym first. Otherwise it starts to velcro up mid afternoon. I think the body must gather up some liquid during the night in the skin, and it takes an hour or so for it to "thin" out again after getting up--something like those puffy eyes in the morning :(. but maybe that's only us old guys' problem? ;D ;D ;D
-
I find that as well Saintc....that I cant just shave the first thing in the morning. I do not get as close of a shave. I have to be up for about 30-45 minutes before I jump in the shower and I always leave it for last ( head shaving that is)
-
Shower shave. It takes me about 20 minutes to shower and shave my head and about an extra 5 minutes when I shave my face in the shower.
-
Yea Saintc and Timmj I also try to give myself at least 30 minutes to get the swelling down. I'm not sure why that is but it is the case, an hour is best but since I hate mornings I can't deal with an hour. I've used the conditioner in a pinch when I'm on the road and forgot my headslick. I'm somewhat addicted to the cold rinse after which is great at home with well water but city water just isn't cold enough. I end up going to the ice machine in the AM at the hotel to get the need met.
I always feel funny going down the hall to get ice to rub on my head. I shouldn't, because it's not like anyone knows what I'm getting it for, but still seems weird. Guess there are worse things I could be doing.

I do that on the road too, I try to get a full bucket in the evening and some of it lasts until the morning shave. Worse things, yes--I spilled something on my company polo shirt at breakfast and I successfully got it out with water in my room. Then when I reached for the hairdryer to dry the shirt quickly I realized tht the room didn't have one--it was missing from it's holder! I debated going to the front desk to ask for one--in the end I couldn't do it--just too weird a scene for me.
-
I just can't used to shaving in the shower. I have a routine worked out so I shower 12 min, then shave 8 mins. that leaves 10 mins for teeth and other grooming
-
I'm a shower shaver and I shave the dome first. I tried the sink once but it made too much of a mess!
-
Started off as a sink shaver, but with ideas from this forum now shave my head in the shower...just wish I had more light in there.
-
I shave in the shower. It's only added 5-10 minutes to my shower time. I turn the water off when shaving. I turn the water on and use the tub spout to rinse the razor.
-
Bit of both i will shave head before i shower and then hop under a hot shower and run razor over again and i find that the hot water raises the hair out of the skin a little more get very smooth shave. If in hurry ,going out etc then in shower and shave head.

A thought, from Ming, who is not Scots, but is thrifty. If you shave in the shower for the "5-7 minutes" I read in a previous post...well, expensively heated water is going down the drain, relatively pointlessly. Indeed, Ming takes what a friend of mine, out of the service for fifty years, calls a "Navy shower," and he still takes himself. Wet yourself down; turn water off and soap bod; turn water back on; rinse off. If Ming has the shower water on for a minute total, that's a lot. Even at the health club I feel guilty taking a long shower.
So I do my shaving at the sink, and w/o letting the water run. Just on and off to rise the blade as I go, and a final on for de-soaping the dome.
Long showers and running hot water are a hidden cost. You are not saving as much on haircuts as you might have thought...
Come on, we don't want SLY guys to take the rap for increasing global warming do we? Hot water is generally heated with fossil fuels of some kind, either directly or indirectly. If your hot water is solar-heated, however, shower w/o guilt, I say!
-
My whole gas bill was $14.75 last month. As cool as it has been around here this summer, I think I will risk "global warming" for the pure enjoyment of the 20 minute hot water massage.
-
Come on, we don't want SLY guys to take the rap for increasing global warming do we?
But our shining domes reflect the sun and heat back out--so we can never be blamed--just don't make me sit in a solar collector for electrical generation though >:D >:D >:D
-
I shave in the shower. It's 7-8 minutes of guiltless bliss.
-
In the shower, 8-10 minutes for a pass with the grain and against the grain, not feeling rushed at all.

SaintC, thanks for the early morning laugh-wake up. I started with the good old tried and true sink shave, now starting the shower shave. Though, I'm skipping a day today, I wasn't paying attention and I took a nice little chunk out of my scalp yesterday (owww... even w/ stiptic I bled like a stuck pig), and I got the top of a mole about 2 minutes later.... good lord I just realized yesterday was Monday... nevermind. That explains everything. :Xo! :*))
-
Always in the shower - takes about 7-8 minutes.
-
I've shaved both ways but never with the water running.
-
I cannot shave the back of my head without a mirror, so I am with ghost on that one..
I have always shaved my face in the shower with the fogless mirror.. I love shaving in the shower, sometimes I will get the front of my head in the shower, and use a mirror for the back of my head.. I have a few moles in the back of my head so shaving that area can be tricky.. I need to get them taken off.. Anyways.. takes me about 15-20min.. depending on which method I use..
-
Always at the sink. There is all I need right in place. Plus, I shave in the morning and shower in the evening.
-
In the shower - head by braille with Headblade - very nicely, I might add.
Face using a three bladed turbo something or other and a mirror.
Total shower time - about 10-15 minutes to complete everything.
-
I used to shave in the shower, but our shower at home is too cramped, so I started sink shaving. At the same time I started using a shaving brush with my HeadSlick, and the combination of the 2 has greatly improved my shave quality. I can take my time, and I can see what I'm doing better.
