Hi guys. I'm fairly new to the forum, been lurking for a few weeks now. I'm a 35 year old who's slowly receding at the temples. To this point, I've keep the hair a bit longer to hide it. A few weeks ago a co-worker's husband, who is bald, said to me, "Forehead keeps getting higher and higher doesn't it?" Well, I guess there was my wake up call. I went that afternoon after work and got a #3 buzzcut. While the receding is evident, my hair is still really thick. I have plans to take it sly one day (probably this summer); I have to say that I'm enjoying that buzzcut with the receding hairline. I'm going this week for a #2. I know, I know, I need to get a pic up, but I at least wanted to introduce myself. This seems like a great place. Hope to get to know you all well.
By the way, I know the majority love it smooth but are there any others like me who enjoy a tight buzz on a receding hairline?

Welcome to SBG.
If you're enjoying the buzzcut, that's great. But if you're thinking about trying the sly look, you won't be satified until you do it...and like everyone says here, it'll always grow out if you change your mind. Just don't let the fear of people's reactions prevent you from doing what you want to do. The 30-day rule works every time.

Welcome to the site Dave. So glad you could join in our growing family. There are a bunch of great guys here. Their advise to those like us is invaluable. Listen to them. The general consensus is to go completely smooth. I'm afraid I have to agree. I take that back, I'm not afraid, convinced. Peer presure is the worst enemy here. Sometimes you have to be thick skinned. But, it's worth living through the negative remarks. Hang in there and let us know how everything turns out.

Welcome to the forum David! I did the #2 buzz for a couple of years before I finally took the plunge, rather by accident, and went for the sly look. Been doing that for about 4 years.
Make yourself at home, have a great time and jump in whenever you feel like it!

Welcome...the buzz cut is how I started, too.
And now look at me!
You'll probably give in and give it a try. Let us know if you need a nudge off the fence.

Welcome David!
I started with a buzz cut also. Somehow the hair got shorter and shorter...
Now I think I won't go back ever again. The noggin has to be smooth :)

Welcome Dave! If you like tehe buzz keep it! This site isn't just about being bald but about liking what you are.

David,
I kept the buzz for years, finally got to the point that I'd had enough with it, and using the info and tips the guys here give, went for it and started shaving. Been GREAT. I actually look forward to the morning routine of shaving my head.
Look forward to you participating in the group.

Welcome David, pull up a chair and make yourself at home

I lurked for months before getting up the courage. I just wish I had done this sooner.
Now hundreds of women surround me every day hoping to rub my noggin for good luck.
(Maybe a slight exaggeration)

Welcome David! A nice tight buzz is great but there's nothing like a totally smooth head. Hope to see you on the SLY side soon!

Welcome, the buzz is a road many of us have traveled, some for years, some months, some days. But like the Chinese say, even the longest journey begins with one step. Just one word of caution, but perhaps caution is too strong a word. Once you're buzzed, you'll begin to get an urge to rub your head, and that will make you wonder what it feels like to rub a totally smooth head--don't fight it too hard because it's wonderful--especially when a good looking lady is administering the treatment.

Welcome DA_Carr. As you can see, I like my smooth.

Welcome to SBG's DA, good to have you with us. If you are comfortable with the buzz, keep it. You may want to experiment and go a bit tighter with a #1 or 0.
That is a natural progression many of us have taken before we shaved it all down.
Do what feels good for you, but you should at least give it a shot for the Summer, and it will grow back to a 1 very quickly.
Keep us posted, and enjoy the forum.
