Title: Should I Shaved ?

Hey everyone, i'm Lionel, i'm 24 and i live in France.
I'm new on this excellent forum and i need some help.

I inherited my father and grandfather's MPB. I loses my hair since the age of 20 years.
Actually, i use a head trimmer at 3 mm.

I think to shave my head. What is your opinion ?

You have a great headshape.  Since you are almost bald on top you don't have much to lose.  Give Sly a try!  ^-^

Absolutely give it a try.  It will be a much cleaner, more contemporary look, and it will make you feel more confident.  You'll love it.

...and no, I don't speak French.  If I ever need to communicate in a language I don't know, I go to http://translation2.paralink.com/.   It's by no means perfect, but at least the intent of what's being said can be understood.

You should definitely try it.  Unfortunately your hair loss makes you look much older than 24, but shaving will give you a much more youthful look.  I'm sure that you will be pleased with the result.

And don't feel bad about the english. The only French I know is "wee wee" but thats usually in conjunction with going to the bathroom!

I hope that is good French?  You will look less "balding" and more handsome when you razor your head smooth and clean !  Thank you for excellent pictures and post new ones when smooth !

Lionel, first off, may I say welcome to the forum.  Listen to the great guys here.  Yes! You would look a lot better shaved.  In my opinion, the buzz cut tends to make a person's head look unclean.  Try it for the customary 30 days.  If you don't like it, what you have now will return.  Best of luck on your decision.

Actually, i have a little psoriasis so i not ready to shave with a blade. My head is not really perfect, not really round.

All or nothing!  :x!

I did the same thing...I trimmed it on lowest setting looked at myself in the mirror and then grabbed my blade.

There is no perfect head for shaving. Don't worry it will look fine.

After I finished I had a sh*t eating grin (where did that expression come from anyway ?) from ear to ear. You will too.

Hey Lionel,
First off, welcome! Trimming your hair is a big improvement in your appearance.
I noticed you mentioned you have psoriasis. I've suffered from sebborheic dermatitis for a number of years. However, I get complete relief from it as a result of shaving my head with a razor (I liken it to exfolliating). It's entirely possible that you may see a similar benefit with your psoriasis.

Looking better.  One thing that you should do now is shave the hair that is growing down your neck.  Just give it a nice straight line.  That will help.

I think that you should go for it ASAP and shave the dome.

I also have psoriasis, and the one place I never have a patch is my scalp since I shaved.  The washing, and the exfoliating effect of shaving removes the excess skin, and some sun, not too much though helps with preventing the inflamation.  I would think that shaving will improve your condition for that reason.  Most, if not all, the ointments, lotions, etc. that the doctor prescribes for me have as their main effect the maintaining of a normal thickness of skin so that the flaking doesn't develop.   I wouldn't shave over an active area or eruption, but those come and go anyway. 
You're going to look very good shaved.  Trust us.

Yep - shaving usually eliminates the dry patches.

You're so close to being where you need to be...that last step to a smooth head makes a big difference.  And there's nothing wrong with the shape or your head.  Looks like the perfect shape for a sly dome!

when you adjust to this buzz cut, then run your head under the shower and soften the hairs and take shave cream and razor and clean everything off !  Sly Bald is for you !

Yesterday was my first day at the work with my shave head.

There was a person who does not love (But she has the easy criticism :-X), the others prefer me like that now.

                          I wish my schoolboy French were up to answering you in your own language. Point is: you've got a great head shape and going completely slick/bald would flatter you, and likely provide you with a bold, clean, assertive new image. Go for it!
