Title: Soap for your dome - What do you use?
Post by: Sooner Steve on June 25, 2009, 10:15:07 AM
Now that it is summertime, I enjoy attending the kids' sporting events and working outside.  However, that leads to a dirty dome that needs cleaning.  I once used my regular shower soap and paid for it a for a couple of days with a very dry head.  NOt a good experience for me.

That being said, what do you guys use to wash/clean your head prior to shaving?  I appreciate any suggestions.  Thanks.

Cuticura antibacterial soap.  It's mild, formulated for acne so it's some additional protection for a smooth clear scalp.  I wash at least twice a day with it, and since it's so G D hot right now, I often do it more often.  I also use Curel moisturizer creme, unscented, after rinsing in the morning before going to the gym, keeps my skin nice all day.  When we replaced the faucets in our bathroom, I had the high "hook" style put in, I got them at Lowe's I think.  I can dunk my head right under the stream and then switch to all cold for a final rinse that's really refreshing--it was a good investment, and if you're at all handy w/ plumbing, it's probably a DIY job.

I rotate between HeadWash by HeadBlade, Bald Guyz Head Wash, and Matte For Men's Facial Cleanser

I use Headblade's Headwash primarily...good stuff.  But I agree with Ty, Bald Guyz Wash is good too.  I'll sometimes even use Suave's 2in1 Shampoo & Conditioner, if I am low on the other stuff.  Also, I recommend St. Ives Apricot Scrub as a compliment to the wash.

I don't use soap.  Shaving cleans it enough.  If I don't have time to shave I rinse with warm water or possibly shampoo.  You might want to try head wipes.

I use Dial for Men Hydrating Hair and Body Wash.

Works well and doesn't smell like a rose garden.

I make my own soap, so if I need to wash up between shaves, I usually use my own Castile (100% olive oil) soap on my head. It doesn't dry things out.

I use the same stuff I use when washing my face...... Aramis Lab Series Power Wash. I also use their Invigorating Face Scrub M-W-F.

just the same deodorant soap I shower with.  The post-shower and shave routine is what makes the difference.

What ever is in the soap tray. Usually something like Irish Spring, Dial etc.

I use Dove like a few other guys, but an important thing i would like to suggest is to get some exfoliator wash a few times a week. You are always putting crap on your head like shaving cream and sun lotion, so this cleans your head of all that stuff and keeps your head extra smooth. It also helps get rid of those "blade lines" that you see on your head.
