Title: Where did the name "SLY" come from?
Post by: benmcd on June 05, 2009, 08:32:11 AM
May have missed something when reading the information about this site, but where and what is the meaning of the word "SLY"? It is a good name but I was wondering as to it's origin in relation to being bald. Don't like to split hairs now, just shave em !

I have always prefered to be called called a bald man, my screen name(which has been a nickname name for years) or any bald name.  I like "bald" better than "sly".. Just my preference.

When I created the site I was looking for an adjective to put in-front of bald that meant that we stood apart from other bald guys.  Sly has a meaning of "rogue" as in that we do things opposite of the norm so I thought it fit well.

sly
Adjective
[slyer, slyest] or slier, sliest
1. (of a person's remarks or gestures) indicating that he or she knows something of which other people may be unaware.

What this means is that WE know the benefits to being bald and the pleasure it brings, something all those with hair simply don't know and can't comprehend!   O0
