Title: Economical shaving products
Post by: hammerdrill376 on June 04, 2009, 04:03:50 AM
Hey brothers,

I am a fan of HeadSlick except for one thing...the price. Around here we get it for $7.99 at Walgreens. In the interest of our economy I am looking for a less expensive alternative. Would really prefer something less than $5.00. Any suggestions??

Headslick still is on sale at well under $5.00 at my local Bed, Bath Beyond.
Keep you eyes open and stock up on a  few when you find a great price.

Both Headslick and Bald Guyz shave gel are about $1 an ounce (Headslick is actually cheaper).
$7.99 for 8oz of Headslick ($1 / oz)
$5.99 for 5.4 oz of Bald Guyz Shave Gel ($1.11 / oz).

I don't understand how 8 bucks for a bottle that last 4-6 months is alot of money to some. Hell i spent 7.50 on a chicken lunch yesterday and that lasted a good 15 minutes.

I agree with Hookem, a bottle will last you for about 4 months dude.  If you all are like smearing this stuff on as thick as shaving foam, you are wasting it.   A drop about teh size of a nickel or at the most a quarter is all you need.  make sure you head is good and wet and massage it in.  So for 4 months, you are spending what?  $2 a month on shaving lotion.

Better still, buy a brush for 5 bucks and it will cut the amount needed in half. Thus you'll cut your expenses in half.

I put two squirts (I use the pump avail for 1.75) in my palm, add two drops of some great oil I got at Rite Aid, wet my brush and start working the mix into a decent lather then apply to head. No joke, I used to get a month out of a bottle of HeadSlick in a month. Right now, I'm well into my second month and I've used like half of it!!

I agree with Hookem and will add this comment.  What did a haircut cost you, when you had hair?  $20.  So, now, you look better and you're spending a fraction of that amount.  Advantage...Bald Guys!

I really like the HeadSlick, too. Combined with Shave Secret Oil it gives me a great shave.
Have you though about the Edge gels, like the new one that is called "Infusion"?

I enjoy headslick just as much.  I took Dogstars advice and checked out my local Bed Bath and Beyond, and got 3 bottles for under $4 each.  I may go back to see if it is still there to stockpile.  As an alternative, you may want to check out Aveeno Positively Smooth shave gel.  I can grab this anytime, at my local CVS for about $4.99 (sometimes on sale, at $3.99).  It provides a great shave, and I actually use it in my routine, when I do touchups, and stuff.  Look for it if you can (light blue cap).  Also, Old Spice makes a shave gel called 3X.  It's a lubricant, shave gel, and skin soother all in one, and it is pretty cheap (around $3.50).  Hope this helps.

I agree with Gary.  If you purchase a brush to lather up your headslick, you'll use less than a quarter size amount of product each shave.

I agree with getting the brush, it might set you back 8 dollars now.  In the long run the amount of product saved, and the better shaves you get is well worth it.  O0  Before I started using the brush I was using almost a bottle a month.

Hey Parksie, That's where I was. A bottle a month. Now it lasts 2 - 3 times longer.
