Hey Fellas,
I've been lurking on this site for a week or so and have been very impressed with this forum.
Recently, I had some people tell me in no uncertain terms that my MPB is rapidly picking up steam. I hadn't really noticed I guess (probably repression on my part).
Anyways, I'm wondering if this might be the time to get sly....any opinions? Like many others I wonder what my head shape will look like but thought I'd post some pre-op pics if u guys want to take a peek.
Thx
Chuck

You'll be fine. You already have a good idea from the pics. (don't have much left anyway). I say go for it!
-
Yeah, true enough. It's just the scalp behind that curtain on the back of my head I'm wondering about...I'm sure it'll be fine. About 14 years ago, I recall having a high & tight in the Army, and after a night of bar hopping, a buddy and I decided to go sly. I can't remember my reaction as I stared into the mirror the next morning after the alcohol wore off, but I'm pretty sure I was ok with it. The Army however was NOT. LOL. Almost got into a little trouble for that shenanigan. >:D

Your hair loss is the 'picture perfect' example of hair that no longer serves a purpose... what's the point? It's time to go for it. I'm not sure how old you are, but I guarantee you look much older than your age. You'll be amazed at the youthful transformation. Welcome to the site, and let us know if we can help.

Thanks Stu...just turned 34 last week. I think I'm primed and ready to go.
-
I would have guessed 46/47, so I just proved myself. I think most guys lose about 10 years off their look when they shave, so guess what... you're 24. Voila!!!
-
Git er done! Your only regret will be not doing it sooner--we promise. You're really going to like this. O0
-
Bro, GO for it, your head is suited to it. Plus, I think you will look 15-16 years younger O0
-
Chuck... you look like a prime candidate for SLY to me... I say GO FOR IT!!!!!
-
As the other guy's have said, you're almost there. Just do it!
-
Alright guys,
The deed is done!!! Man, I could feel my adrenalin kicking in while I was shavin'. Took a couple deep breaths and just had to slow myself down and take my time.
Didn't realize my ears were quite so big, but I'm diggin' this!!! O0
Now I just need to get some sunshine on my noggin (not too much I hope).
There was quite a bid of redness when I was finished...witch hazel is supposed to help with that then?
Here's what I did:
-Used clippers to cut it all down to stubble
-Jumped in shower for 5 min under hot water
-Lathered up my head with some Gillette shaving gel
-Ran a Mach 3 front to back and then back to front (this took a few runs as I was missing some big patches)
-Soaked with cold water for as long as I could stand it (maybe 20 secs)
-Used some aftershave balm (aloe, eucyaluptus, peppermint)
And that was it...should I include witch hazel in the future before putting on the balm?

-
I can see it in your face -- sly is gonna suit you to a tee! You look terrific and I think you know it!
Welcome to the "club"!
-
Wow, Chuck, you are one decisive guy. As usual, we are right... sly is the way to go. You look much younger (and happier). You will find a new-found sense of confidence to go along with your slyness. I wouldn't worry too much about the redness as your scalp is new to the experience, but there is plenty of good advice here about taking care of that shiny dome if it needs a little TLC. Hope you join in on the sly forums.
-
Will do...thanks all!!!! :D
-
hey chuck: the sly slick noggin' suits ya. keep us posted on all the reactions 2 your new look. O0

Welcome to the Forum Chuck!..... And way to take control!
SLY suits you very well.

You were meant to be sly chuck....looks great O0
-
O0 NICE!!! You just took a minimum of 10 years off your look. You were meant to be Sly. You look great. Now, get out there and strut your stuff. Well done, Chuck.

ACES O0 O0 O0
And the only thing you're wrong about--there's absolutely nothing wrong with your ears. You're going to like this. Your technique will improve--there's a section here with lots of variations on the theme of clean and smooth.
-
Yep, like has already been said, you look great sly!! Just do your best to stay that way for 30 days. By then you'll love it. You'll stand in front of the mirror and will ask yourself, "Why did I not do this years ago. After that stage you'll be in the I love it I'll never change group!!
-
Looks great Chuck, from one newbie to another. O0 As for me, I'm on day 19 and I'm still diggin it. 8)

looks great my friend - enjoy

Took the day off from work so I could lounge around by the pool today and take my slyness for a "test drive".
It felt so good to dive into the pool and plunge my freshly shaved head into the cool water. O0
My parents dig the look so we'll see how everyone else including my co-workers react tomorrow!!
Most importantly, I think it looks good and that's what matters right? So thanks again for everyone's support...it gave me the final push I needed.
-
hey chuck, you look great,
considering growing any facial hair?
-
Yo Duff...
Yah, as a matter of fact, I'm got stubble growing out for my goat...I used to wear it all the time, but now I think it'll stand out a lot more...can't wait to see how it looks now!
-
Man, that is a great improvement. Congratulations!
-
Just a quick little mention Chuck. You said you,"Ran a Mach 3 front to back and then back to front) Many men do two passes like that to help avoid irritation. BUT the point is to shave with the grain and then reshave against the grain. So that would be the opposite of your quote here. You'd run back to front first followed by front to back.
That's it, it could have just been a typo but I wanted to give you your first shaving tip!!

Actually, I shave front to back and then back to front. I get the best shave that way.
Chuck - welcome to SBG! It looks great!
