Just changed the blade in my Head Blade this morning and started to do the shave and almost scalped myself.
I am using the blades that came with the razor.  May need to try different blades. any suggestions?

What blade were you initially using before you changed cobbster?

How many shaves do you get from the razor?

My hair is about 75% coverage (obviously not the front of my head).

Using a normal double-bladed disposable razor, I get three shaves until it starts carving up my skin lol!

Cheers.

I get about 6 to 7 shaves out of the Gillette Sensor blades.  I change them every Monday.

All the headblade videos I've seen have it going from front to back. That method has never worked for me on the sides; I find it works best if I go up then down on the sides.

I have to go every direction - some U-turns, a couple of illegal left turns and even a roundabout.

Seriously ... it took me a full 30 days to figure out the dozens of directions I had hair growing. And now ... smooth perfection.

I find that when I get to the ears, I remove my middle finger from the loop and hold it between my index finger and my thumb.  Then I pull the ear down and drive the car around those areas.  It works perfectly!  There is no need to use another razor to shave these "difficult to reach" areas.  I just keep feeling for the parts I miss and go over it again.  The headblade is a nifty little device that works like a bomb.

I get about three to four shaves out of the Schick Ultra plus or the Gilette Contour Plus blades, which I have found to be the best two generic blades.

Agreed Waine, there's no need for anything else if you find what works for you.

Just took the plunge! Bought headblade off amazon along with some headslick to see what the fuss is about. Am I right in thinking I'm going to rinse head under hot water for a minute, then apply (how much headslick?) then shave away nice and slow. Any help appreciated!

You don't need a lot of headslick, about 2 peas worth should suffice. It's tempting to get those wheels going fast but simmer down Ricky Bobby, slow and steady. Keep the wheels in constant contact and avoid putting extra pressure on thfront finger near the blade. For the first few shaves maybe go WTG especially in the back of the head until you get the hang of it then try ATG.

Yeah, 1 to 2 peas of HeadSlick (I'm frugal, so I'm more of a 1 pea guy). Rub it around and it will lather quite nicely.

I 'm right-handed, so I lather with my left and keep any residual lather on my hand throughout shaving in case I need a touch up. ALso, sometimes a few drops of water are helpful to revive the lather. Left hand also does the feeling around for any missed spots.

I shave only with my right hand. Some videos and several of the guys here use right hand for right side, left hand for left side. I tried it - and affirmed that I'm not that coordinated.

Enjoy ... and report back.

Cheers, all the videos on YouTube seem to be of people with already bald heads! So seems quite easy for them. Just hope with me being BBC with quite thick hair, that it will still work as good. Fingers crossed.

Hello Mark

It will work out fine, you will see.  Just experiment with different generic blades to see which one will sheer through your thick hair successfully.  I find the Gillette Contour Plus blades work brilliantly.  They fit onto the yellow adaptor.

I remember using mine the first time and watching myself grimace in the mirror in anticipation of slicing my head like a potato peeler, but these fears were unwarranted as it is a super little gadget.
