The opportunity of adversity
« on: February 25, 2010, 03:55:56 PM »
Guys, please take some time to watch the video I posted on the blog.  I believe every parent, teacher, coach, and boss should watch a video like this one.

Here's the link - http://www.slybaldguys.com/serendipity/archives/260-Aimee-Mullins-speech-The-Opportunity-of-Adversity.html

People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

I love the title of this thread!

Adversity indeed builds strength. When you are challenged, as in times of adversity, that's when you can learn the most about yourself and what kind of person you are.
My greatest lessons in life have been from the worst times.

Excellent message and excellent post, Tyler!  O0
Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humor, and Change.

Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.
Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure
Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

VERY INSPIRING!!  I love stuff like that!!

I will say that when you think of those thesaurus synonyms for "disabled," and apply them to, say, a disabled vehicle, they are more accurate and fitting........less offensive than if you apply them stictly to a person with a "disability."

Good stuff, Tyler
