I wanted to get a consensus on what everybody is using and see what works and doesn't work for you guys. Since summer is not that far away.
-
Any kind of sunscreen works for me. But recently I got some "Every Man Jack" face lotion spf 15. It works pretty good on my head, and was around 4 or 5 bucks for 10 or 12 ounces.
-
Boots Soltan SPF 15. Dont think you guys have Boots in the US :D

Trust us on this one. This is good stuff and the DriBlok keeps away any greasy or oily feel that you get from other products. The price is good also. Only about $7 at Wal-Mart.

One slight problem..... I HATE BANANAS. They should be outlawed

No problem.. It doesn't smell like bananas.... It's just a name.
Seriously.... if you haven't tried it, I strongly recommend it.

Well, I think people that want bananas outlawed should be outlawed! :popo
Team Schro uses Banana Boat products. Good stuff! O0

Banana Boat is awesome. But I need to address one issue here. Cleaner mentioned that summer time was upon us. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use sun block every season. It does not just take the summer sun to do damage, trust me, I found out this past weekend! Cover that noggin!

Good point, Tim.
Also, make sure you put a little sunscreen on your ears. My father in law got skin cancer on both ears as a result of not covering them up. He's the main reason I wear panama style (straw) hats when I golf.

Don't forget to raise your SPF by about 2.5 for every 1,000 feet in altitude. ;)SPF-15 isn't doing much protection if you're up in the Rockies. O0

Damn! Is that me of the team Schro! Sorry buddy. I cant help my dislike, sorry, my loathing of all things banana-ish. I cant even bare the smell. I am completely unable to even peel one of those offensive items for my children without feeling nausea flooding over me. :(

OFF WITH YOUR HEAD IF YOU DONT LIKE BANANA'S!

No biggie, Mr. Ambassador, personal preference.

Another bananaboat guy here. I use driblok spf 30 in winter and 50 in summer. My dermatologist recommended it. Its great. Goes on non-greasy and almost instantly dries to the touch and it's supposed to be "very" water/sweat resistant. I'm actually allergic to the sun (makes me break out in tiny red itchy pimples). Just went to the beach and spent about 3 hours in direct sunlight with the 50 on and didn't break out got just a little color. It worked great. Oh and it has UVB and UVA protection.
-
Yea, I've been using Banana Boat Faces Plus spf 23 that I had laying around, its not greasy either, I might try some of the other Banana Boat products to see if I like one thats better.

Castelone's on Oak St. has a pretty good selection of Banana Boat products and very good prices.

Being a pasty white 'former redhead' I have the extremely sensitive skin that goes along with it. I tried a bunch that were recommended last spring to me by the guys here and I found that for my dome the best is Aveno Baby SPF 55 (I'd buy higher if they had it though). So if anyone else out there has the pasty white sensitive skin I'd strongly recommend this as well.

I'm a big fan of all the Bald Guyz products. I use the moisturizing gel, the head wipes and the sunscreen as well. They have done nothing but take great care of my head.

I was wondering this same thing this morning, its supposed to get to near 80 next week and we are going to the lake house. One of my new Sly friends said that he saw headblade sunscreen at walgreens, has anyone had any experience with it?

Yeah, it's good stuff. Especially if you like the shiny dome.
-
Cool, I think I am going to have to try it.
-
i'd also like to highly recommend aveeno products. the lotion, sunscreen, shaving lotion, everything they make works wonders on sensitive skin. it's all great stuff!!!! you cannot beat it, period...!!

Just wondering from you banana boat guys, what does it do as far as looks, is it more glossy or matte?
-
Just wondering from you banana boat guys, what does it do as far as looks, is it more glossy or matte?
Unfortunately it does dull the shine, but it's totally non-greasy, it doesn't sting, and during the day the shine does come back for me because I have an oily tendency in my scalp. So I accept the dull or matte effect to get the sunscreen. I wash my head for the evening so it shines nicely if we go out.

I actually find the banana boat to make my head really shiny, but non-greasy. Just goes to show you that you have to find what works best for you.
-
I will just have to try them both out. I already have the banana boat at home, I havent been outside much the last couple days without some sort of head wear like a hat so I havent used sunscreen on the dome yet. I have to stop by Walgreens so I will check out the headblade stuff too.
-
Lophura your head looks like a freshly paved ice rink, that shine is awesome! I want to skate on it.
-
Lol, thanks. I was at the gas station this morning and someone told me my head reminded them of a glazed doughnut with the shine. Then when I was fishing the neighbor said the shine will scare the fish away, lol.
-
A glazed donut :*)) that's interesting, and I believe your neighbor is right about the fish haha. What products are you using to get that shine? I have HeadLube glossy and HeadLube Matte, they work great, but my dome never comes out looking like that.
-
Another 'Boots' Soltan user here (well, thats Boots Soltan 2, Bananaboat 500 :D ;D)

I get my great shine naturally. After I shave I rinse with cold water and sometimes rub it with an ice cube and thats how it gets like that. In my experience the headlube glossy doesnt give me as good of a shine and leaves an oily feel
Oh and today at the lake I went ahead and used banana boat SPF 30 and it worked pretty good.
-
Cool, I'll have to try out the banana boat, seems to work wonders for everyone else. I do the cold water rinse as well and notice more of a shine. Thanks for the info.

For those tiny, red itchy pimples you may want to ask your dermatologist about eczema. The summer months can worsen eczema in some people. If you want, you can read more about it https://prozema.ca/eczema/
-
When I had hair, I used to get painful pimples on the back of my head during the summer. Those have gone away since keeping my head shaved. I think the razor exfoliating the skin helps with this.

A friendly reminder: Don't forget to put some on the ears.
Is one of the first places were skin cancer can appear.
Oh,that rhyme.
