Post by: slickjack on August 11, 2018, 02:26:21 AM
Has anyone tried Omnishaver that is crowdfunding on Indiegogo? Is it as good and quick as they claim? Thanks.

I don't know. I'll try it out, but I'm a bit skeptical. If it does work it could be a time saver.

With all the promoted videos by the company, it's hard to find a truly independent review of the thing. There is one YT video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3-y6pxSl5c that is independent, that is not pre-approved by Omnishaver.

In the video, the poor guy seriously overshaves his head on the sides.  This is his first use of the product, so it's a bit unfair. Every razor has a learning curve.  As another user points out, the instructions request you not film the shave (with the prototype) till you've used it maybe 10 times.

I'm still real tempted to get one of these, though the price is steeper than my other head-shaving gizmos.

This guy ever hear of water ?  He shaves without first wetting his head . I don’t think he knows how to shave correctly. He looks like he is sanding a piece of lumber.

I'm at work so can't see the vids.

This looks like it has two sets of cartridges offset by 180-degrees. So i assume you hold it and shave back and forth, both with and against the grain. Have I got that right?

If so, yikes. You'd perhaps run out of lubrication on the first pass leaving little for the second.
Sounds brutal but I've probably got the wrong idea.

Checked it out on 'da Tube last night.
It's an interesting concept and looks like it works well. I reckon I'll hold off till more reviews are in.

If the claims the company has made about the efficiency and ease of use of this thing are true, it could be a life-saver. It's hard to know what to think, though, since just about every review of the thing is sponsored. I'd like to see it in the hands of some of the known head-shaving names out there, like Chris Bailey.

Ive been using DE razor and wahl clippers for years to shave my dome until I discovered OmniShaver by accident on youtube. I too was skeptical about it until I did some research on it on google and youtube. These independent videos below really convinced me: 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3awzEOcTM9E 2.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4hdgN1ybBc and i know there are many more videos i saw that were not posted by the company itself. The features look to be convincing in getting best close shave, speed and longevity of the blades since they self strop or sharpen, i thought that feature was really cool. For those reasons above, I've purchased one on their indiegogo page. I could not find this anywhere being sold other than indiegogo...

Has anyone bought the OmniShaver on their indiegogo page, received it and tried it?. How long did it take to deliver?.

Thanks ahead of time..

Don't order from that site.  By ordering you "agree" that they can copy your address book, read and record all of your email, and monitor what you and your friends do - and then sell that information to whomever they wish.

where does it say that? Your joking right?. I searched "address book", "read" and "sell" in their privacy policy and nothing.

In my opinion a month is to long to wait. I had ordered a Shull Shaver electric received it in less than a week.

I just got mine today. I had been waiting for an email saying it had been shipped, but didn't get one. (Maybe my overeager spam filter.) Instead the Omnishaver was waiting in my mailbox for a few days.  It took about 20 days to show up,  which given it's crowdfunded and being shipped from China for three bucks, is pretty darn good. (I once funded a Kickstarter item that NEVER showed up,)

I was concerned about trying it out, because my first shaves are always the worst. Lots of damage.  Amazingly, the Omnishaver didn't cut me. And it did a good job on a few days' growth.  Heck, I didn't even have the technique down yet and it took only 10 minutes -- one-third my usual time.  What's more, the blades did not clog up -- a big plus in my book.

Based on one shave, I'd say Omnishaver is a very good product.  I hope the blades last for many months as they claim. (Replacement blades are not yet being offered.)

I got mine last week and so far so good.  It gives me a really good shave, it’s really quick and no nicks  so far.  I was worried that there would be burn as it has t blades in each direction but again so far so good.  Doesn’t seem to clog up either . So, so far it se ms to do as it claims.  Just need to see how long it lasts.

Wow… just… WOW !!!!

So, I got my Omnishaver yesterday; Thursday Jan 31, ’19.

I ordered it on Monday 1/28/19 and got it Thursday, 1/31/19… so those long waits people are mentioning in this thread, (this is an old thread and those posts are old too), are apparently a thing of the past, so that’s awesome.

I bought the Premium one, which is only a few dollars more than the Classic, but from reviews and such I figured it was worth it.

From their site:

**************************************************************
The Premium OmniShaver is almost three times the weight of the Classic model because of its' triple plated steel shaving head. This new OmniShaver is not only heavier, but it transfers captured heat to the skin's surface as the shave takes place.

Once the triple plated steel shaving head has been warmed up from the hot water, it will retain the heat throughout the shave which provides a soothing feel to the skin and helps to expand the hair follicle size so the blades can deliver as close a shave as possible.
**************************************************************

Tried it out first thing today and… OMG WOW !!

Even being a bit tentative, I shaved 5 minutes off of my shave, (sorry… couldn’t resist, LOL), and it was as BBS as BBS can be !!  Also, no nicks, irritation or anything.  Definitely the equal of my Fusion 5, but oh SO MUCH FASTER.  As I did with the Fusion, I’m sure I’ll get even faster over time and save even more time.

This was so much better, for me, than the Headblade ATX.  I tried and tried.  I used both the 4 blades and 6 blades, and while it was faster than the Fusion, it was no where even close to being BBS… even when I simply took longer, more strokes, (making it then take longer than the Fusion actually  B@n%), it still never quite got BBS to my standards.  I know many swear by it, but maybe it’s just slightly different head shapes?

Either way, for $20 you get the Omnishaver and a little case for it.  Tons and tons of videos out there with folks saying they’ve been using the same one for 7+ months, a year, and even one guy; 2 years.  Heck, even if it lasted me the same 5’ish weeks that a pack of 4 Fusion blades lasts me… the cost is virtually the same, but I’m saving 5+ minutes every morning… that matters, to me at least.

I highly recommend that everyone give this a try… for $20 why not?  Again, like the Headblade ATX was for me, maybe others won’t get the wonderful results I got… but again… for $20 it’s worth a shot IMHO.

I’m really hoping I get the 7+ months I’m seeing in reviews, but Omnishaver is being conservative and saying 3 to 4 months.  Three months?  Twenty bucks?  Yeah… I’ll take that everyday and twice on Sunday  !B@

Take care,
Lou

I've received mines early December and I am loving it. At first it took me around 10 minutes to use but I have it down to under 2 minutes using it in the shower and I shave every 2-3 days. Using it often I get no cuts/nicks and razor burns. They recommend using hair conditioner. I am still using the same one so the stropping from going in both directions on skin is sharpening the blades so it lasts longer. I absolutely love it, best money spent and saved me tons of time and money compare to regular razors and shavers. Will update how long it has lasted me.

Wow... that's strange.   Me thinks your order got lost.

I ordered their new Shave Butter Monday, and it's out for delivery today.

Given this guy's review, it can maybe replace aftershave and moisturizer too.

We'll see...

I just bought the Omnishaver Premium. I have to wake up 15 minutes early to shave my head. I'm not a morning person so if I can get my routine down from 15-minutes to even 5 minutes I'll be happy. Because I live in Canada and shipping is more expensive, I opted for buying 3 of them. I'll be happy if each one does me 2 months!

Little more than a month in; Feb 1 - today March 4, daily shaves, and still giving me a fast, BBS shave.

I'm loving it.

New to this site, not really all that new to head shaving... been doing this off and on for nearly 20 years.

I've been back to the bald look for a couple of months now and one of the products I've had the chance to try is the OmniShaver which I've been using for about 2 weeks now.

All that being said, I do love the design of it. However, I'm not overly thrilled that there isn't a lubrication strip on the blades which would make "touch up" shaving a lot easier. While this design does lend itself to a much quicker shave, I still find that it's pulling when I'm moving in the against the grain direction.

I use Cremo shaving cream just for a point of reference. I've tried in the shower or just after I got out.

Another point of info on the Omnishaver... I've spoken with the owners a few times via Facebook Messenger and they are soon going to be releasing replacement cartridge kits that will work only with the Deluxe Version.

I have asked them to consider adding a lubrication strip to the replacement cartridges... In a perfect world they would design the shaving head to accept Dorco Razors... (Am I right?)

Regards,
Bruce

I really think that lubrication strips are a not ncessary to razors because shaving  gels and lotions provide plenty of lubrication during a shave. At best, lubrication strips are designed to last only a few weeks and I believe that OmniShavers last much longer than a few weeks so... would it really make much sense to incorporate them into OmniShaver's design??.. BTW, I am still using mines after 2 months later. I LOVE this shaving tool. I always look forward to using mine in my morning routines, highly recommend it..

Two months in here as well, and also loving it.

Is it weird to say that I actually find the back & forth shaving style relaxing, almost like a massage, lol.

Take care,
Lou

I understand all of that with the lubrication from creme and such. I must be doing something wrong. I've been using Cremo, Bee Bald and other various methods in and out of the shower to no avail. I love the shaving mechanism for the omni shaver  but it seems like I'm always drying out or something with a lot of pulling action where as I don't experience that with a lubricated strip cartridge.

A couple suggestions...

With Cremo the directions suggest re-wetting your hand and lather up the Cremo another time or two throughout shave.  Several reviews I'd read on Amazon mentioned more pulling when using  Cremo, though I myself have been fortunate enough not to experience that.

Omnishaver now makes their own Shaving Cream, which I reviewed under the Product Review section.

Also, you could try HeadSlick.  It's the probably the slickest between Cremo and Omnishave Butter, but the most expensive.

Hope this helps.

I'll keep working with it... with the number of cremes and such that I've tried, I've stayed away from Headslick due to it's higher cost... I may have to bite the bullet.
