Title: Eyebrows, Eyebrows, Eyebrows
Post by: natedraven on August 13, 2012, 07:03:56 AM
Hey Guys,

So I live in Pittsburgh, PA and I had a buddy that decided to shave his head. He had a great skull for it (nicely rounded with no huge bumps, etc). So I'm actually the one who shaved his head for him. Afterwards we could tell it was a mistake as something that I didn't realize was that his eyebrows were just too light a shade and it almost appeared like he had no eyebrows at all. The strange thing is that we couldn't see it at the time. Once we shave his head the floodgates opened

Since I had reviewed too many pictures of bald guys (its pretty crazy the amount of bald guy pictures under google images) and heres what I found:

1. People with blonde eyebrows should think twice about going completely sly without some sort of dying of the brows. I would recommend a close shaven (think Jason Stratham) for maximizing your bald look.
2. Brown and Black are usually a safe bet for a bald head... again, the more color to offset the bald head the better off you are
3. Grey works as well depending on the thickness of the brow and the shade of grey.

If you have light eyebrows, don't sweat it.. might just be better suited for a close shaven look.

Take it for what its worth. Send me a pm and i'll send you the rest of the findings if interested.

I would have to disagree.  I have very light eyebrows (wish they were darker) but I will never give up my slyness just because I don't have much eyebrows.   :@`

BaldDaniel, LOL  ;D

By the way, Your look is very clean, neat... and the bald look really suits you... I never even noticed that your eyebrows are hardly visible.

I disagree aswell, that is a stupid statement IMO. I know loads of men with light eyebrows and they look perfectly normal. I know men who shave  there brows off completely and it suits them. Everyone is different. It's not just your brows it's to do with your face shape and complexion etc

Point proven lol. They are good looking men and they suit it a lot, yet they both have quite fair eyebrows. (not dark)

LOL..

Guys, Guys.. dont take offense obviously there is going to be exceptions. Bald Daniel, you obviously don't have that problem but you also have a lot going for you as well. You seem to be in shape, you have a nice head with what looks like no problems and  you have a soft face. I'm not judging i'm just posing some things to look out for.

Also - Light is a relative term right? Like say from Mark H's picture below. But Mark H.'s eyebrows are not exactly "light". Notice they have a decent twinge of brown in them.

The point is that your eyebrows ARE a factor, and people looking to shave their heads completely sly should take that into consideration.

Also i'm not overtly against criticism.. you can catch my ugly mug at http://www.baldguysecrets.com

Nate as for you you are not at all ugly.  I don't know a bald guy who is.  Thanks for the compliments and keep up the good posts.  I love being a part of this forum  :@`

I have very light eyebrows as well.  You can see them when up close, but not much from a distance.  The nearly clear color kind of bothered me when I had brown hair.  Now that I'm sly, I think they look a bit better, although I still wouldn't mind a hint of color in them.  I think the sly look improves most features, the eyebrows were no exception.

Eyebrows have been a thread in the past...a couple SBGz mentioned that they shave them off. I trim mine to make them less wild.

And yes I agree that Waine has brows to envy, fer sure.  O0

I trim mine on occasion, but as a "brotha" I think I need to keep my eyebrows somewhat thick....As for everyone else, I never really pay attention to the thickness of their eyebrows, Sly goes with just about everything, IMO.

Thanks Kalbo,

I remember those days when I was "debating" on whether to shave me head. It was a traumatic time for me at first. I can only imagine what some guys go through. How eyebrows play a part in the process shocked me to be honest. Your so focused on shaving your head that you don't realize other factors becoming heightened. I think I would have done my buddy a disservice If I didn't tell him he looked "better" (I was happy for him, other people were not so nice) with a bit of short hair rather than completely bald. In his case it made sense. He then grew a nice close shaven look and it gave him just enough color. Now it looks great.

We're all going bald or we like the bald look. More usually the former. It is nice to know we have options.

So my eyebrows are about 1.5mm at this point after trimming them and i'm trying to decide if i should just shave them off. i think at this point it would matter either way.

I used to have fair but quite thick & bushy brows. One time, when I went to the barber for my regular head shave, the barber asked if i wanted my brows trimmed, I said that would be fine. However, the barber accidentally thinned & trimmed them a little too much. He apologized and I said it was ok. I then said to him to just shave what was left of them off completely. Although, I was a bit nervous as to how I would look after the shave, I kind of liked the transformation to completely sly dude. Afterwards, a few folks got a bit of a shock, whilst some admired the look. Now, every time I shave my head, which is roughly every 2 days, I also shave the brow stubble for the completely clean look.

Folks are now used to seeing me being bald & browless and most folks like the look. My wife thinks I look better shaved smooth - both head and brows, and wants me to stay that way for good.

Shave them!

They will grow to 1.5mm in few days. If you dont like it, is not a problem.

I would say to keep the eye brows,  but it is what makes you feel best about ones self.
It is like bald or keep hair on head  what works and to heck with what someone else might say.

When I posted my response I just realized that I look like I do not  have eyebrows, but actually I do.  They are just very light.  In my years past I had very light blond hair and that is the only blond I have or had left.  Before bald ,  I was very gray.

I did not end up shaving them, but they are still quite short. Maybe when the next long weekend comes up i can try. I'm around people all the time and i'm nervous, kind of like the first time i shaved my head. people asked why i did it and i told them " i just wanted to " but i feel it may be different for brows..... the itch is not going away though!

I trim mine quite short, but never shave them off completely.

I think shave eyebrows off completely also a good choice. Maybe it will look weird but after sometime, it will become normal when people around you accepted your outlook.

I ended up doing it on Saturday. That was a RUSH i haven't felt in a long time and was not expecting! I like the look but like most people say, it may not bode well with my employer.

Will post pics when i'm able to edit it down to the acceptable size.

Good for you and do not worry about others.  I will not consider shaving my brows but as my picture shows,  you cannot see them anyway. Eye brows have a purpose.

I trim mine occasionaly, but have never considered shaving them off.  I makes a bold statement for those that go from dark to none, not so much for those with light coloring.

Mine smear my glasses and I keep them down. I started shaving them daily 20 years ago.

not ashamed to say as a guy, i get mine waxed / shaped, i also trim them down to stop them getting to thick/dense

it's another tool to add more definition and structure to our face, that we lose when no longer having hair. Bare in mind im someone who would otherwise have extremely wide busy brows that look drastically out of place

and i assure you, 99% of the bald celebs that you think look amazing with their bald heads, are likely rocking waxed / shaped eyebrows
