Come on, you were duly warned. ;D ;D

Sounds like someone is on the road to Sly for Life O0
-
I hate it also, especially now that it's warm and I'm riding the bike more. Stubble is uncomfortable under my helmet.
-
I know what you mean. It seems like on the good days it shows up at 5:00. Then other days it seems to show up much sooner. :Xo!
-
Well I gues on the plus side, stubble can act as velcro th help keep your hat in place ;D Which would otherwise slide off a fresh clean dome. :/O Awe what the hell am I talking about, SLY is the only way to go.
-
I'm seriously thinking of letting my hair grow 4 or 5 days worth, so the stubble doesn't stick to my helmet. Much as I love being sly, it was damn uncomfortable yesterday, and I'm not going to shave every time I want to ride. I've tried head wraps under my helmet, same issue.

If you have a military surplus shop anywhere near you Wolf, you might be able to locate a aircrew helmet liner. There are just a soft material cap-like liner we would wear under our flight helmets and which I have used under my dirt bike helmet for a comfortable ride. Just a thought
-
Stubble bugs me...but my hair is so thin to begin with, I can get away with not shaving my head for 2 days...guess I get "2-3 day shadow..."

When I first started shaving my head a few weeks ago I thought I would only shave it about every 3 days. Yep, Right ::). That lasted for about 2 shaves. Now I can't wait to put that razor to the noggin every day. Addictive? Nah. 8)

Same here, I plan my morning routine with enough time for my shave....don't want to rush, which would lead to nicks
-
Thanks Paul, I've actually ordered this one
http://www.schampa.com/Item.asp?IID=862
Read on a review for helmet liners that bald men like this because it doesn't have seams. I'll let you know how it works.
-
Thanks for the heads up. Looks sweet Wolf, let me know how it works. My liner getting worn out. May get one of these myself.
-
Those poor guys who are all stressed out about loosing their hair... I wish I could give them mine! If they ever come up with a permanent hair remover that doesn't cost a ton of loot I'm going for it! :*))
-
Sgt Pate I agree! If you find somebody let me know also on the hair removal!!
Plus I have noticed my cap has a tendancy to not come off very easy with
a stubble field!!! :P
-
Im right htere wiht ya shdwwlk.... i kinda like it. Its the first thing I usually do each day. I either jump in hte shower and I always do all my shaving and trimming then wash off and then get out and have that nice slick head ...OH YEAH! LOL
-
Yeah, I had to recant on another thread... shaving does affirm my choice to be bald! ^-^
-
Actually don't hate the daily shave, but dont' love it that is for sure...
would love to be bald 24/7 with no shadow and no effort on my part...shaving is a necessary evil to get to desired affect...slick, smooth and SLY....
those that disagree...
we'll have this discussion again after your 12 year anniversary of shaving your heads ;)
-
Wow B.A. twelve year anniversary...awesome...I don't necessarily like the shave either, but I can't stand to leave the house without being slick and sly. I have found that there is one advantage to going grey early though, the shadow disappears.
-
The inevitable razer burn is my con on shaving
Really my big "con" is and especially on weekends...getting the shave in before i go show the world my bald head...that 7 minutes seems like a HUGE block of time to find when I'm running out to start the day on the weekends...
I know it's lame, but i would love to just "up and leave" with a perfect bald head everyday O0
-
What I hate about the stubble is when I get home from work and i go to rip my shirt off...hell my head gets caught in the tshirt....its like Damn...liek a damn sticker bush.

I feel the same way. There are some days, especially on weekends, where I just don't feel like shaving. It just seems like a chore I just don't want to do at times. But it's becoming more and more rare for me to skip a shave as time goes by, because I just MUST be smooth. I didn't work today and did not shave until about 5 pm before I went out for the evening. I have light-colored hair that doesn't show much shadow. I could have gotten away without shaving; no one would have noticed. But I would have noticed. I looked in the mirror after I was dressed and ready to go out. Even though I'd looked bald before the shave, the difference afterwards was pretty dramatic -- to me, at least. You couldn't see the stubble beforehands, but that "glow" just wasn't there until everything was shaved smooth.
-
Man, Razor, I know what you mean. In the past 3 months I have only skipped shaving 3 days and it felt like I was forcing myself to not do it. Like you said, probably only I would notice, because like you, my hair is very light and thin. Even though it is a chore to do, I would rather do the chore than live with the stubble.

amen 2 everything u said 'bout th 5'oclock shadow. when i 1st started being sly last april, i got the dome shaved every 2 days. now.... i'm getting it shaved everyday. i'm like u guys.... i gotta be smoooooth. i hate the velcro feel!!!

im right there with ya all. I usually shave in teh morning and then when i get home if we are going out somewhere liek for dinner...otu comes the blade again.. It is jsut it has to be smooth. I went out tonight for dinner and my wife was gettin a little jealous i think because all these women would even walk up to her and say WOW i didnt recognize your husband since he started shaving his head. then they would all come over to my table and start talking. THere ended up being about 6 sly guys walk into the pizza joint and I was like YEAH LOOK AT THAT..and yoru right...they all would look at each other with THE LOOK. and I was right there with em. Thing is I have seen these same guys in there before and they would never have said hey before....but now its like the way of the SLYS

Warhawk, You've gotta share your secret on how you get your wife to do this... ???
-
Who knows ... might make you rich!!
-
Hi guys, i've been shaving my head for 10 months now... and i also hate my 5 o'clock shadow! So i've decided to try waxing my head keeping my scalp smooth for very long time with no hair regrowth. Think about this method (like tweezing), it could become a permanent bald solution. ;D
Bye bye
-
pburke, slyinkc, wpruitt...... i'm very lucky that the wifey shaves the dome every morning. no secret though.... i just asked her and she agreed. :D :D i 1st started w/ the electric razor (norelco) and she used 2 shave it every 2 days. now... i'm like all of U... gotta b smooth everyday.
believe it or not .... she even told me that she enjoys keeping me sly. one time when mrs. warhawk went out of town 2 visit her family by herself... i had 2 shave myself. and it wasn't a pretty site. i cut myself badly! in reality... i should try 2 shave myself just in case if we ever get in a verbal warfare or if she has a grunge on me ??? ???
i will definitely make a post when i do start shaving independently. anyways.... i'm gonna ride this thing until the wheels fall out!!! ;)

Bro!!! WAIT! Read this thread before you try it!! If not, at least video tape it so we can see how painful it is... >:D
-
I wish i could take a pill with no side effects that would cause every hair on my head to fall out permanently. would still shave for the experience
-
5 o'clock shadow?, more like 2 o'clock for me! It pisses me off, I start losing the smooth feel by the afternoon.
Guess I may go the same route as Tim some days.
And I definitely agree with Razor and BA, I just love to go out slick and smooth to start the day.
So far I am a daily shaver and looks like I will stay that way. O0
-
I,like all my sly bros, cannot stand to leave the house without being slick smooth bald.
Even my coworkers have started to comment on my shiny glow when I go into work.
People with hair do not understand the joy and addiction of headshaving and being bald, only us sly guys can understand this.
The shine on my noggin is enough to tell people that I live this Sly life.
-
I finally got the noggin a more consistent color without being pasty white on top. Now I'm addicted to the smooth feel of the top of my head. Once I can feel the stubble, I don't feel like I'm looking my best. I was shaving every other day or so but now I'm not satisfied unless it's freshly done. I guess I'm addicted.
-
Yes it is very addictive. There should be some kind of warning label when you enter this site that "slyness" is addictive ... proceed with caution. ^u!ez
-
Tyler, X has got a good point there. Some kind of warning label just like he suggested could be a great advertising attention getter. O0

Good idea! I'll have to start playing around with some ideas. If anyone has any, let me know.

The shadow was always the thing that bugged me the most, that's the reason I started laser. I have like 85 percent of my hair left...so I had quite the big shadow...I would have to say that's the #1 thing I've hated about headshaving.
-

So no shadow now bro?
Awesome...post a close pic if you can..
Would love to have and look like there isn't ANY hair on my head!
Very cool bro! O0
-
The top of my head has adapted to the treatment the most so far, 90 percent of that hair is gone..the back still has a pretty decent shadow, but alot less than it used to be. I CAN'T WAIT till it's done...no shadow has always been a quest of mine. I don't know if you remember or not Andre, but I always used to post on HSC about the shadow and how much it bugged me...I'm kinda OCD haha.
But yeah, once this is done..which should be around Feb 08' I'll post an up close high-res pic of the shadowless dome!

Very understandable bro....someday I want to be follow suit!
BTW no shadow in your avatar..very nice ! O0

It has to be done daily if not twice.
5o'clock my a$$ I'm luckey if I don't feel it by lunch time. the last half of the work day is hell for me 'cause I feel the stubble.
Tim you said some thing about after work when you take your T-shirt off it gets stuck, thats to funny, it happened to me again today and I was cussing it, I was thinking of a topic here for it, but its now covered.
-
yes I still deal with that too. The sticking of the shirt to the head. Almost being like a blind man with a shirt stuck on his head. Good thing I never take my shirt off out in the middle of the highway! LOL
-
the stubble for me comes back about 2.00 in the afternoon. I hate that velcro feel, and like you other bro's, it makes me feel scruffy and un-kempt to feel it there. If I'm goin out at night an the stubble's back then I gotta shave it down again: can't go out with stubble, even though, like you all say, no one but me would notice. I notice, and that's enough!
I have dark hair, almost black, so the shadow never really disappears - but I think other people see you from a slightly different angle. Sometimes, in photographs I'm amazed how shiny and shadowless my pate looks: like seeing it from another viewpoint.
Sure is addictive though. :)

The SHADOW, the STUBBLE--it's really getting to me. Using the Power Fusion & Headslick it doesn't show up until around 5 or 6 in the evening, but it's bugging me. It's been 5 weeks Sly and I caught myself in the mirror the other night about 10p and I looked like a bald guy with the runway. I wonder if there are any long term MPB Slys who can tell me whether you ever get over the bad feeling when the shadow is there reminding you that you are "small b" bald, I mean I like the shaved head look, until the shadow emphasises the runway reminds me that I'm MPB bald--and I feared that for a long time and obviously still do. Consciously I "accept" the fact, but obviously just below conscious it's still very much there. I realize it's probably only in my mind but it bugs the hell out of me. How long does it take until when you see the "runway" clearly defined by the shadow that you don't panic. Do you just gradually lose the panic about small "b" bald, do you learn to accept it? I'm going to a wedding this weekend and I am already getting concerned about how late I can possibly do the second shaving to avoid the shadow making me look MPB bald rather than a shaved head at the reception.
This probably sounds like the ravings of an idiot, but this really bugs me.
What time is your first daily shave? I find for special events like going out or weddings, ect, I usually shave around 2:00 or 3:00...
that keeps me shadow free and very slick all night! O0

BA:
Weekdays, 6:30a, after the gym. Weekends, 9:30-10a, again after the gym. If that sounds like I'm and exercise addict, I confess I'm rather mean if I don't hit it at least 6 days a week. I don't want to go around all day until 3 or 4 with the scruffy look--and the runway showing. Right now I'm thinking regular shave at 9:30a or so, then another at 4p, so unless we really get going at the reception and after, I'll make it. It just bugs me I can't get over the mental thing. I mean it's not like I'm not going to let it grow out. Why can't I just learn that I'm not going to be the main attraction and that probably no one but me will notice, after all there will be lots of bald guys there who haven't seen the light of Sly?
When I read these last two posts I sound like I'm a little over the edge on this, but except for this MPB baldness business that's nearly a phobia, I'm really a fairly level headed guy.

No dude, it's understandable...you want to look totally bald and not that you HAVE to shave your head because of MPB...
Some dudes are cool with it, but if t bugs you, it does...period!
Really and if I was in your shoes I would consider the lazer like Jason did...I'm actually considering it sometime in my life and knoww if I had a real pronounced MPB that never faded even after shaving I would not hesitate..
Heck, they put makeup on Howie mandels head to cover his MPB and just show his gleamingly smooth dome on TV...so your worries are yours and legite...
Consider it and the day of the event, try to wait till at least 3:00 to shave for the whole day...you'll be looking sharp...it's one day..hey why not shave the night before you go to bed, then you wont be too scruffy! ;)
I would consider the lazer or tweeze though bro if it eats at you SLY should be a freeing experience...not a hindrence!
-
BA, I agree, that laser sounds inviting, but I'm going to wait to see how 6 to 7 months of post-treatment works w/ Jason. My shadow isn't bad until it's velcro at 14 hours or so out, then for some damn reason, the light or whatever, it's runway city, and I freak.
That idea of the night before, i.e. tonight, might work otherwise shave pre-gym tomorrow at 7. Right now, I'm 000 sandpaper at worse, thanks to Fusion Power and Headslick, but we'll see later on tonight. But it's getting close to Friday evening and a few shots to celebrate. Thanks for the idea.
-
Velcro sucks..... :-[
-
saintc, glad to see you've gotten some perspective on it. We make much more out of it than we have to. I've said this before, but the velcro, or shadow, is not a problem for me. It tells me I will be shaving again tomorrow. And I enjoy my shaving. O0
-
That's a good way of lookin at it xnewyawka - the velcro feel sure does make me look forward to my next shave! 8)
I think we do get a bit hung up about the shadow, and it's not usually anything anyone else would notice. We'd still look bald to most people if we didnt shave for a couple of days. It's just to do with our own inner-most feelings.
