Don´t worry about how you look.  Balding will take you to a point in which you will look far better shaved than with the rest of hair you have left.  I did not read all comments so dunno if you shaved already but you should buzz it and then; when you feel comfortable with it go for the kill and shave it off.

Ok here is what I think.  I love the facial hair in your 1st photo with hair and the buzz down to a #1 looks amazing.  I say go for it.  You are a good lookin guy, and you will have so much more confidence.
