@digitaldome:  Hi Paul, The FINE fresh vetiver is my favorite.  I have tried the clean vetiver but it smelled to "chemically".  The American Blend is a good scent similar to a classic barber shop.  The Snake Bite  is predominately for the "menthol burn" but it is unscented.

Those are the flavors I have tried.  I want to try the Italian Citrus and L' Orange scent one day.  Right now, I am enjoying the fresh  vetiver scent.

Pre: Shave Secret
Razor: Gillette 1960 Fatboy (#4 setting)
Blade: Astra SP
Cream: TOBS Grapefruit
Brush: Vulfix Pure Badger
Post: CleanHead
Splash: Osage Rub
Aftershave: Nivea Men Cool Kick

My first DE head shave!! It was wildly successful. It felt more natural than I could have hoped for. Darn near BBS, with no nicks, cuts, or weepers. Less burn when I applied the CleanHead than when I use the Proglide, so obviously less skin irritation from the shave itself. This was a more successful DE shave than any that I've had so far on the face. A couple passes and a few touch ups, all ATG. BTW, I am loving this Fatboy. I see what all the raves are about. I also have a 1959 Fatboy, but it is in such pristine condition, and so shiny, that I am hesitant to use it at all. I just like to admire it every time I pass by. Lol.

Thank you my friend.  BTW... if you ever decide to go with a stainless steel razor, I highly recommend the Weber.  It is the best bang for your buck stainless steel razor on the planet.  I have owned several more expensive stainless steel razors and my Webers get the most love.

Hey guys just  note to say I've started a blog to document my journey shaving.

It's called "http://thatshavelife.wordpress.com/".  If you get really bored, you should check it out ;)  It's primarily my SOTDs right now but will expand to cover more shaving stuff and hopefully entertaining tidbits from my day to day.

Today I broke out the Futur paired with a Feather blade. No cuts or nicks but a whole lot of hair in the sink, so much I had to break out the magic eraser.

You shaved your head with the Merkur Futur?
My hats off to you brother... There is no daydreaming with the Futur rolling over the Dome

All in the technique, no reason to fear the blade if you only use the weight of the razor.

I haven't been shaving my Dome long enough to be comfortable shaving it with the Merkur Futur.  It's not fear...just practicality.
I'm sure that's what you mean when you talk about "head shaving" technique...
Shaving the face is a different story...No problems with my Muhle R41.

Going with the grain is easy, just let gravity do the work. ATG requires more finesse. It's slow going until you get your technique down, after that it's a breeze.

I agree, shaving head with a DE is awesome. Just use the weight of the razor. Nothing more. I have loads to learn but enjoying shaving head and face with a DE and to think i was going to ditch the DE when i first used one!!!
