@Goatee The EJ DE89 handle should fit the R41 head with no problem...

Birthday SOTD!

Pre: Shave Secret
Brush: GBS Pure Bager
Soap: C.O. Bigelow Premium Shave Cream - Eucalyptus
Razor: '47 GEM Clog-Pruf & Frankentech
Blade: GEM & PolSilver Super Iridium (2)
Splash: Shea Moisture Shave Tea Tree Herbal AS Elixer
Post: Nivea Sensitive ASB
After: Master Bay Rum & Pacific Shaving Moisturizer

Being that today is beginning of my 47th year on this rock we call Earth, I thought I'd man up and try out one of my GEMs.  Wisely I chose the Clog-Pruf over the more aggressive MMOC.  In preparation I watched several GEM shaving technique videos and read up on you guys words of wisdom.  Even practiced with no blade.  Thought I was ready.  NOPE.  Several painful nicks later, I decided to salvage what was left of the shave (and my dome!) and pulled out the Frankentech.  The Pol blade preformed great!  I love the scent of the Bigelow. Apparently its made by Proraso?  It lathered very well, but seemed a little drying on the skin. Is it comparable to Proraso?  Long story short, after some deft application of the styptic stick, I ended up with a CCS.  No BBS for me today, maybe not for a couple days.  We'll see how I heal..

Happy birthday Wutwutman!! I am 50 in August!!!!! Yikes!!!

If you find a Razor that does an epic job for you why dont you stick with it? I am aiming to fing 'the' one razor that does it for me.

Tried the 37c and had a 2nd shave with it today which went good. Lots of touching up but no nicks etc.

Going back to the EJD89L though as that gives a smoother shave for me.

Have a great day mate.

@SirHarry:  Glad to see you posting back in the Safety Razor SOTD, my friend. O0

@Paul:  Again, thanks for the 2013 R41 link, I already know that I will eventually get it and I cannot wait to pair it up with my Weber Bulldog and Wave Handle.

@Goatee:  Hope you still don't give up on the 37C so easily.  You only had it for about 2 or 3 shaves.  Also, keep us posted if you get the 2013 R41 head.

Ok. . . Remember to be patient with DE shaving.  You cannot get immediate results and be comfortable with it.  This type of shaving requires patience.  One thing about the traditional way of shaving is that it rewards you with incredible shaves and most of all it makes shaving fun. O0

SOTD 6/8

First of all THANK YOU for all of the Birthday Wishes guys!  I had a great day :)  Didn't do anything crazy LOL  Hit a huge flea market but came up empty.  There was a bunch of events going on downtown - Greek Fest (awesome food), Art Fair, Live Music, more food, etc. So I was busy all weekend :)

Pre: Maggard Razors PSO - lavender
Brush: GBS Pure Bager
Soap: Arko
Razor: '69 Gillette TTO Black Handle
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Splash: Shea Moisture Shave Tea Tree Herbal AS Elixer
Post: Azzaro Chrome AS Balm
After: Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS & Pacific Shaving Moisturizer

Much better shave today.  The Gillette Silver Blue blade is very sharp.  No weepers but I could definitely feel the blade.  Not as smooth as the Personna Red. Got better results with the Arko also.  The different brush definitely made the difference.  My TTO shaves almost identically to my Super Speed.  Very nearly a BBS today.  I'd say its an excellent CCS.  I seem to have healed nicely from yesterdays debacle LOL

I have 2 of those razors but mine are in terrible condition which is probably to be expected since I only paid $27 total for both of them. They work but the doors are loose and the plating is coming off in spots. No point in getting them fixed as it'd cost more to fix one than I paid for them.

SOTD 6/10

Pre: Maggard Razors PSO - Cherry Sandalwood Vanilla
Brush: Omega 48 Pro Boar
Soap: AOS Unscented Sensitive
Razor: Gillette Super Speed
Blade: Gillette Wilkinson Sword
Splash: Shea Moisture Shave Tea Tree Herbal AS Elixir
Post: Nivea Sensitive AS
After: Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS & Pacific Shaving Moisturizer

The Wilkinson Sword is another super sharp blade!  But it felt really rough on my face.  I'll try it one more time and if it still feels that way it's dropping out of rotation.  The AOS lathered really well. Nice cushion.  I'm finding I really like the feel of the Omega, even though its huge.  I think it may actually be designed for face lathering.
