Title: OCD About stubble?
Post by: Brucifer on March 26, 2019, 05:46:58 AM
Just curious how most folks view their head shaving?

I like to be able to run my fingers over my head and not feel any stubble in any direction. So much so that I turn what could be 2 or 3 minute shave into a 10+ minute shave.

My questions to others, am I the only one? Are you happy to shave it back and forth and not go finding the little stubble spots? Am I being too obsessive?

Regards,
Bruce

Hi Bruce, I think you will find you are definitely not alone. So many days I wake up and think I really don't have to shave today, but then I shave because I want my head BBS. I've mentioned before that the feel of a bald head is as important as the look, for some.

You know the funny thing is I usually shave every 36 to 48 hours so I do get that stubble all over before I shave again but something in my just clicks when feel most of my head is slick smooth and then I hit a rough patch LOL.

Is the whole point of being bald: Take all the hair and left only smooth and shiny skin. Every perfect shave feel like a tiny victory. Once the stubble appears you're a simple man with a buzzcut.

Like Reddog says "the feel of a bad head is a as important as the look"

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one that it drives crazy....

Rubbing your head after a close shave is on of the best sensations that you can have. But normal people doesn't know that haha

I’m very OCD about keeping my head shaved perfectly smooth.  I’ve been known to shave twice a day.   Sometimes the constant maintenance and upkeep ends up being too much and I give up shaving for a while.

I'm pretty much new to the whole shaving thing, but I can tell that yesterday at work I found a rough spot on the back of my scalp and it made me furious. It was so distracting, I kept touching it. I must've looked like a fool  :/O.
I'm not used to shaving my head and it always takes me so effin' long to get my head cleaned up. I shave while I'm in the shower. Today it took me 15 minutes, but at least no rough spots to discover at work  :*))

The stubble does not bother me to much especially after one day. However if I let it go two days the hair on the sides is thicker and the top thin and balding so I look MPB which drives me nuts. One day growth is the max I can go.

Since you framed it that way, ODC, prob count me in.

And it's increasing w/ age because it didn't bother that much in my 20s. Late 30s and stubble is my new enemy. LOL

 O0

5:30am when I get up, full wet shave routine.

5:30pm after I get home, completely dry, just the razor and my head.

So, I was thinking about us baldies that dislike any stubble on our heads.

If our heads are stubble free smooth, we have a shaved head. 24 hours later, when you feel stubble, you have a very short buzzcut!

We had our monthly hotrodders lunch today. Out of 9 guys, 2 of us were sly. A discussion ensued about the convenience of wearing a shaved head. The guys asked alot of questions about the shaving process and the equipment we use. I told them the bottom line is I like having a shaved head.

Is a shame that you only can be truly Bald for a short period of time. Once the stubble appears, you're  another simple man with a buzzcut.

I would say I was OCD about it as well when I started, but no so much now.  I tried shaving twice a day to fight the stubble, bur it irritated my scalp.  After 5 to 7 years, I am not as OCD about it.

Just the opposite here. Older I get the more ODC I am about it. After early morning shaves, I feel stubble late afternoon; feel like a bald guy trying to grow his hair back. Brahahahaha. Wonder what % of guys like us feel this way?

I'm probably more like Chris. I used to skip a day or 2 sometimes, but now I have a hard time skipping even 1 day. Probably a combination of not liking stubble, and wanting to look my very best, although skipping a day or 2 doesn't really show. Coming up on my 6 year baldiversary, and love wearing a shaved smooth head more than ever!

I'm afraid of seeing an pharmaceutical ad on TV on day. Something like: 'Are you a bald man with OCD about head stubble, of so take 2 pills daily . . . . . '

We cure your OCD not your MPB. hahahaha!

I guess there are alot of worse things we could be OCD about. At least we are looking great and certainly well groomed!

It's funny, I used to be OCD about stubble, but lately I've been going a day or two without shaving and not caring as much. It could be that I'm crazy busy...lol

I wish I could kick the OCD. I was at a wedding Saturday and later in the evening I was worried my stubble was showing.  Houston, we have a problem.

It's ok Chris, lots of worse things to be OCD about. I might be getting worse. I shaved early yesterday, then got invited to dinner with friends, so thought I better shower again. So as long as I was in the shower, I shaved again. When I got up this morning, I thought I didn't have to shave, as there was very little stubble. Of course, when I showered, I had to shave to BBS. Oh well, it looks and feels great!

A freshly shaved head feels awesome, especially rinsing off in the shower afterwards.  I just started using a Gillette Fusion.  It does a great job, but the blades are expensive.  I’m reserving it for my head shaving razor.

I realized how OCD I am about stubble today! I shaved before I went to bed and then before I went into the office at noon. I can't have it be not completely BBS.

I'm on holidays from work this week and I said I wasn't going to shave my head but after 4 days I couldn't resist. I broke down!

A couple days ago, I got a little scrape and a few insect bites on top of my head, so have only shaved the sides and back for 2 days. I'm hoping I can shave it all tomorrow, this stubble is driving me nuts.

Wow, I never thought of it as being OCD.  8)

I am definitely one that doesn't like any stubble on my dome, because when I go to take off a shirt or remove my hat, I hate the feeling of my shirt getting caught on my head or the sandpaper feeling when putting on or taking off my hat. AND, that's putting it mildly.

My desired shaved result is as slick as it can get. If growing a shadow or letting it go for a week or two, then it doesn't really bother me. It's the stubble jot on the day of or the next day that's frustrating.

Shaving it as low as it can go!!!!  O0
