Shaving head with hair conditioner
« on: November 18, 2020, 08:44:55 AM »
Anyone tried to shave the head with hair conditioner? I been reading up on it and its quite popular. Apparently its good for the shave, less irritation.

I bought one and tried today. Minimal lather. But still very slick.

Trying it as i keep getting the odd spot when shaving. I think it could be folliculitis.

I do prepare well for a shave. Shave wtg.  Witch hazel and sometimes aftershave or aftershave balm.

Do you guys then wash head intermittently during the day or exfoliate in the day/s following the shave?

I use a DE to shave the dome.

I'm going to try conditioner tomorrow. Have you tried Schick Extreme 3 disposable? I get less irritation with them than the de.

Conditioner worked good for me.  I always wash my head thoroughly before a shave and a couple of times a week I exfoliate after the wash, then I shave.  I've tried exfoliating after shaving but I felt a lot of pain and burning.

Quite expensive compared to DE blades though..

Ok, I used the conditioner today, and it worked pretty good. It must condition the skin too, as it was very smooth after the shave. Three a little witch hazel on and had an incredible shine!

Nice one reddog.

I shaved again today with the conditioner. Very weird shaving with no noticeable lather! Scary as i use a DE to shave head at the moment.

I used Witch Hazel too and then shaving balm.

One spot on head since last shave. I am hoping to eradicate these pesky odd spots.

I used just conditioner today.  I noticed my hairs were a bit harder to shave compared to my regular method but I do love the results.  One thing I tried yesterday, I shaved using my normal method then after I rinsed my head off, I put on some conditioner, smeared it around then rinsed it off and it left me with a nice well conditioned scalp so I think that conditioner is somehow good for the skin.

I shave in the shower, with just a bit of whatever soap I am using to clean my body.

I am a Norwood 6, so not too much to shave, although the bio hair on the back is pretty thick.

No issues...
