Title: Tweezing the temples, becoming MPB
Post by: beardedbaldgerman on November 20, 2011, 03:22:09 AM
Hi,

My idea is to extend my balding at the temples so it looks more like a receding hairline. I want to extend i further in the coming weeks and month. Any experiences with that? Does anyone have the same idea. How fast should I procede? I started a few days ago to tweeze. How fast is to fast so that people notice?

I guess I should consider myself fortunate because by 25 I didnt have a hairline except the one across the back of my neck. I would like to know if  there is a cosmetic I could apply to give the appearance of having m o r e age and liver spots  :o

Seriously, I would not do this kind of procedure or laser.  If going bald is in your DNA it will happen.  But everyone one is different in terms of how fast that proceeds or how far.  In my case it took about 10 years from thinning at the temples to thinning on the top and back of the head.  20 years later, I am not slick bald but it's pretty thin. So if you like the sly look, don't be impatient with your genetics.  It is pretty acceptable these days to shave a full head of hair these days.

On another website I used to be a part of, I know of a fellow, who was so obsessed that he went through pain by tweezing, then he had laser treatments on his head.  He said it was quite painful.  I would encourage you to save yourself money and pain and just shave.  But it is your head,  Just my 2 cents worth!

Hi,

my advice:
If you want to be bald, shave it.
A shaved head is widely accepted today as just one more haircut.

I saw a guy at the airport recently who had obviously tweezed or lazered or did something to the hair on the top of his head which was totally bald without any sign of fuzz or shadow.
The sides had a dark fringe and it did not look natural at all.

I understand that this is a very controversial toppic, since some members are bbc and others shaved their head because of mpb.
A lot of young guys come her for support because they are struggling with mpb at a young age and some have gone through that a long time ago.

For someone with mpb it is hard to understand, why someone would do it to themself.

I am bbc and enjoy a smooth head, which could allready be hard to understand for some guys with mpb.

But anyway, the tweezing - no recommendation from me cause I saw that guy at the airport.
It just looked weird und not natural.

Regards

OMG. Sorry for posting this controversial topic. I did not want to hurt anyones feelings. Sorry if I did. My idea was just to tweeze the temples a bit so I look more like balding. People would stop asking "Why do you shave your beautiful hair?"

Nobody!s feelings are hurt; we're just trying to understand your motivation. I still say don't do it. Unless your hair is about 90% gone people will still ask why you shave your head.

That would be the easiest and most honest answer - but people are usually not satisfied with easy answers. "Too simple to be true".

Why pretend to have MPB? :/O
If you want to shave your head, just do it. Trying to justify it to others is just a waste of time and energy.

I wouldn't go to such lengths to avoid a question about why I shave my head.  I'm BBC and when asked, I tell people I like it.  Tweezing your temples seems like you are trying to fool yourself as well as others.  Are you happy with being bald?

Also a lot of people can't understand why someone would want to be bald in the first place.  Many can't understand why someone would get rid of something that many want to keep.  I say that people's opinions really don't matter if it is just about your looks.  What really matters is what kind of person you are.  Do you have integrity?  Do you treat people well.  Those are the opinions that truly matter!  Not whether your head has hair or not!

Hi there,

one more thing from a mostly bbc-guy. :-)

There have been a few postings (one of them from me) about negative reactions from the family and how to deal with them.
I can understand the origin of your idea - to seem to be balding and to have a reason for it, so the family would shut up.
But I don't think it is worth it.
From the comments of my post i concluded the following:
- continuity: keep the head shaved at all times, so the family has the chance to get used to it - don't grow it out for family occasions
- be firm, put your foot down: it is your choice of hairstyle and nobody elses business. Not everybody hast to like or love it, but they should respect your choice ... maybe with time, so be patient.

Reagards from a baldaholic ;-)

Auch, it might be a silly idea, but  - in case nothing else works -, you can say than girls just love it and you fear that your female acquaintances would kill you if you dared to grow out your hair again.

oh there are guys who really like the MBP look.  it is unique to males and there is a segment of the population that finds it extremely attractive.  I actually have two customers who have come in it had me shave out their MPB even though they still have a full hairline.  they keep it shaved they still coming to the barbershop to have the fringe hair cut

also there are guys who are MBP nature but the MBP line isn’t it nice. It may be irregular or there may still be  some patches left.  by tweezing out the MBP section you can create a really nice perfect balding line.  because otherwise even if you shave your head your shadow would not be nice.

are used in epilator a couple of times in other parts of my head that are balding already, (my crown is almost fully bald) it really did keep the regrowth away for weeks at a time
