Location: Gurnee, it's halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago, so it provides easy access from both airports.

Dates: July 25th through the 27th

Activities:

Friday - Meet and Greet

Saturday - All day event

Sunday - Potential brunch

My band is playing that Sunday evening; however, it's on the other end of the Chicagoland area and my guess is that most folks will have gone home by then.

Regardless, I can likely make Friday and/or Saturday pending any other gig offers we receive between now and then.

We're actually looking at the Brewers since the Cubbies ticket prices have gone completely out of control... plus, we can tail gate at Miller Park and since it is a retractable roof stadium, it won't get rained out.

As soon as I have some numbers, I'll be contacting several hotels in the area for a group rate.

I've been thinking about this and was thinking that if there's something for everyone to do on Saturday night, then maybe this could work out. I was thinking I could ask my band about performing at the chosen hotel/motel on Saturday night (if it's feasible). The big problem likely would be cost as I'm certain they (there are seven of us plus our soundguy) won't play for free. It's nothing personal. We're playing a gig that Sunday night, so getting them out on a Saturday night would be hard anyway.

I was just thinking that if there was a band playing and a bar available, then it would give everyone something to do that Saturday night and maybe make it an easier sell to everyone's significant others.

Not meaning to impose...just offering a suggestion...

It is going to be a costly enterprise for some as they are going to be flying in from far flung areas so the idea of shelling out 100-200 bucks on top of that would be a bit rich to ask.

I suggest you PM Tyler or one of the Moderators with a possible plan. If the SBG's are keen for the idea then I have little doubt that you could make it happen, however if they dont, thanks anyways for the offer.

What we're planning for Saturday's event could end up running into the late evening, so I'm not sure how feasible it would be to have a band along with that event. But, if that event falls through, I'll keep the band in mind.

TIMMJ you can tell your wife either Chicago or Milwaukee since we're going to be half way between both of them.

All I know is it's in Gurnee. I don't know where in Gurnee. There was talk of a baseball game. If the game is during the only time I can make the drive...well...

Hopefully someone will chime in with some details.

I know many may think this odd, but I don't have a credit card so booking a hotel is an issue (I used to have a gambling/spending problem so now I limit cash I can access). Money's not an issue though, but I read on here people getting rooms to cut down on costs. One thing too to whoever is looking into things, Ask about Government and/or law enforcement discounts because if it's at all cheaper I could get that.

The other thing I was wondering, if anyone else from the Southern Ontario or Michigan area is going and wanted to join in on rides especially now with the astronomical gas prices.

I think that anyone or everyone who has come in here from my neck of the woods found out I was a member here and bailed...lol. I think I have my place worked out for staying over..but are there any other guys who need to get a hotel room and wanna split the cost?? We are all brothers here so we gotta stick together. This is going to be a great time so I expect to see as many there as possible.
