Welcome mate, I shaved my head the first week of winter this year. The best thing advice I can give you is to get yourself a good beanie. An Aussie winter might be a rather mild one, but it certainly helped me get through  O0

Or should I just wait a few months?

Carry on shaving your head and wait a few months. The colour of the shaved head will soon match the rest.

Started shaving my head in early February. I live dark northern Europe, too.

Good luck.

I started shaving my head in January 2012.  Winter was no problem. If I'm going to be out for some time, I'll wear a hat, but usually don't bother with a hat.  Just don't need it here.

If you're concerned about a 'white stripe', then may I suggest getting a little make-up (make sure it matches your skin!), smooth a little bit of it over the area & blend it in w/your skin, you'd be amazed at the change..
