yo whats cracking
ive had a large crown and receding hair since age 15 and went through a self esteem holocaust, feeling like a victim of the world all that etc etc
im 23 now luckily mature enough to realise the error of my ways so im alot more objective and cool about it now. but i made a resolution next year to either get the transplant or shave it all. in otherwords have a permanent solution to never think about it again
now the issue is this. im good looking, but very pale but with black hair, im wondering if this contrast might make it harder to pull off the full shaved look, if any of my actual hairline is still showing im gonna look like a douchebag. this is fueld by the fact my hairline is lopsided, it recedes much more on the right side.
also im hella thin. i think i just have a high metabolism or somehting cuz ive never been able to put on weight. i dont wanan end up looking like a cancer patient
so guys
would love to hear your opinions

You won't know unless you try it and it won't take long to grow it back. I bet once you shave it, you won't wanna grow it back though. Give it a shot !!

First of all, you don't want to get a transplant that will cost you a lot of money and leave you scarred and disappointed. At least try the shave first, since that's reversible in the unlikely event that you don't like it.
My advice is to shave your head and use the money you would have spent on the transplant on a gym membership or perhaps even a personal trainer. Start lifting weights and build up some muscle and then there will be no way anyone will ever mistake you for a cancer patient.

bro, give yourself a present of a new wonderful life and shave your head smooth..
doesn't cost anything if you already have a razor and shaving crezm..
plus shaving IS reverseable...transplants aren't and mess up any chances for you having a perfectly smooth SLY dome...
shave brother shave...
you'll be a happier, a lot less hairy..but most important, REAL guy! ;)

I personally wouldn't consider a transplant. One for the cost and two for the fact they cut your head leaving scars. Then when the day comes, you decided to take it all off, you would have scars that could have been avoided.
There are many people who are pale and have dark hair that pull it off, I can't see you being any different. I too, am a pretty thin guy and i think i pull it off very well.
So here's what you do:
Go and buy yourself a good Ball hat and a tuque (Winter hat) *I'm Canadian* that you like. Shave it all off, The worst that can happen is you don't like it. It will grow back faster then you think. I am almost positive you will be glad you did it. It's liberating knowing that this was your choice, not natures.

I agree with the bros on this one!! Try shaving it, if it gives you your confidence back then its got to be totally worth it! And like BaldMark said, it grows back alot quicker than you would think!!
I would not even entertain going the transplant route, it just seems a stupid amount of money and a stupid amount of pain!! Let us know your decision dude!!

I wouldn't consider a hairline showing on a bald head as bad. I can see the hairline on every bald guy I've met. It's easy to see on me, especially since my hair seems to grow fast.
When I see a bald guy and can see that his hairline is receeding or otherwise is falling out, I think "congratulations for doing the right thing!"

Amrod, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised what happens to the feelings you have about your hairline once you shave. For me it was a freedom that words can only try to describe.
It's hard to understand when you're on the outside looking in but think about it man, life is too short to be consumed with bad hair anxiety. You're 23, it's time to move on.
I have an uneven hairline too, peaks on the sides and a polish mohawk down the middle.... The reality of it is nobody gives a rats ass about my hairline and I'm meeting women like crazy. It's simple. Once you shave the noggin your tune will change from "should I shave my head" to "I can't wait to shave my head again". It's just difficult to understand from your perspective... For now.
Another thing, I'd rather have NO HAIR than BAD HAIR any day. It looks great, easy to maintain, chicks like to rub or lick it (that's right, I said lick it) and it just feels SO good.
How about you throw a picture up of your current self.

trust me...unless youre in Hollywood, dont do it. You will like it at lst and be disappointed 10-20 yrs down the road. Took me 1 1/2 years of pain to fix a lot of the damage.

You need to understand that a transplant won't be a permanent solution.
Let's say you get this done and end up with that sparse coverage that you can tease, spray and comb over to make it look like you're only sort of going bald. Uhmmm what happens when you continue to lose the non-transplanted hair. You would then have to get another transplant, and another, and another...
For what? Sparse coverage at best. They simply CAN'T transplant enough hairs to duplicate what a full head of hair looks like. Look it up. Some how, some way, people that get this done are convinced they now have "hair". To me it just looks like they're 3 months away from saying "I should have shaved my head 2 years ago".

yea dude it is rough to lose your hair at a young age, I just turned 22.
but you gotta let it go... I know that some of the guys in this forum have had the HT surgery and all of them absolutely regret it...

on the not looking like a cancer patient note... like razor said, get in the gym alittle bit, and grow some facial hair.
and Chris Daughtry has a receding hair line and he is one of the best looking shaved heads in the world... the point of Headshaving is to put an end to the worries and restore confidence

25-30 years ago tranplants were a solution. since the mid to late 90's, bald has become more popular including guys over 40+.
I do not recommend getting them nowadays.

I am hellofa thin too m8. I shved all mine yesterday after months of clipping at lowest setting. Dont think I look like a cancer patient (correct me if i am wrong guys).
Dont go down the transplant route. Try the shavin. Nothin to lose but your hair

Shave it. If you are as mature and confident as you admit, then you should have no problems just going for it.
What you don't realize and I can't put into words is the feeling of freedom you will get from it.
Also, haven't you heard Bald is the new Viagra ;)

Hair grows about 1/2" per month. So you can get back to a #1 buzz cut (1/8") in about a week and a #2 (1/4") in two weeks.

There's nothing wrong w/ a shadow line, but a scar--that's in another and bigger league. Transplants leave scars like all other surgery. I'd even say do Hairclub before surgery, but shave first--it will grow back. As you can see from my current avatar, I've got a pronounced shadow and it troubled me for a while. Now it's my sign to the world that I'm in control.

My vote is to shave it. The hair plugs are awful. Last July, I went to have eyebrows implanted. Guess what, I have a unibrow,
but on one side. The other one is very sparce. On down lower, I now have a scar behind my ear. A B----- to shave. Shave and be happy! Listen to someone who knows. Thank God I didn't try to do the scalp!

What happened to your eyebrows? Did they just thin out and disappear?
