Title: Day after shaving smooth, scalp feels rough/flakey/scabby
Post by: fendertele on January 08, 2018, 09:13:20 AM
I shave with a Mach 3 in shower with sensitive gel, then afterwards run an alum block all over that stings like a £&_###__£__  then I apply a cool balm lotion and my red scalp usually settled by next morning.

But once it settles it begins to flake/scan all over like a sandpaper feel is moisturising it the only work round? As I hate that siney greasy feel.. would prefer a drier done.

Thanks

I seldom use an alum block anymore. It dried my head out.

Are you getting irritation? Don't put any pressure on the razor. Try a exfoliating scrub and moisturizer.

The next morning, I have a Velcro like feel on my head. That is just one days hair growth.

I have a naturally dry scalp and aftershave/alum blocks make it worse. In fact even my face is dry in the winter after a hot shower. I understand that you don't like the oily look but it's often a trade-off between one and the other. I use Bajaj Almond Drops on my beard and face. It's an Indian brand that I'm sure you'll find in your local Indian grocery store. It's a combination of almond oil, mineral oil and it's fortified with vitamin E. An alternative, which works especially well on a freshly shaved head, is aloe vera gel. When you rub it in, the dry skin usually peels off in your hand and leaves a smooth and shiny surface.

it's more like mini scabbing in areas that I may have went over a few more times to get in closer even when my scalp is moisturized I can feel them instead of being dry scabs they are moistened but still there... then fall off if I don't shave a few days or come off when I shave.

It sounds like you should probably go see a dermatologist. You may have very sensitive skin and might need special care to avoid this kind of scabbing.
