Some girls I meet ocasionally asks me
"Why are you bald?"
I usually reply with: Because I think it looks great!!
Some girls usually say.. "I wanna see how you look with hair", or "I bet you have some nice curly hair.."
Then I mostly say "Naaah, not gonna happen. I'm gonna be bald forever!"
Do you other sly guys get this question a lot?
-
I don't recall ever being asked that question.
It does, however, indicate a certain ignorance of decorum about the person asking the question. I wonder what their reaction would be if they asked someone why they were bald and the person responded that they had just had a prolonged bout with cancer and the baldness was a result of chemotherapy and radiation.
There sure are some proudly ignorant people in the world. I count myself lucky to have not encountered any of them in almost 15 years of headshaving.
-
Interesting thoughts..
I'm very young, 20 years old to be more exact! Lost my hair when I was 18.
I really don't think girls my age are aware that I shave it because of male pattern hairloss, since it's not that common to go bald at such a young age.

I agree. My initial reaction was to respond by asking, "Why are you rude?" >:D
-
"Because I like it"
that should be enough...
-
I do, like daily.
-
"WHOOOSSHHH ! One day there was a gust of wind and next thing you know my hair was gone." That is the story my Dad used to tell my friends when they asked, "Why are you bald?" Dang ... a few years later that same gust of wind wrecked havoc with my hair as well ... LOL
-
Damn Impertinence I say , rude comment , But you answered well cos it does look great . You cud say to shock em I av just got out the nick ( corrections facility or prison / gaol ) , they shaved my head there .
-
Lucky fella. I'd love to meet girls but my wife would have a fit.
I get this question sometimes and I just tell people that I like it.. needed a change. I'm actually changing a lot of things, stopped smoking a year ago, no processed foods, working out so going back to being bald sort of fit my new lifestyle.
-
No random people have ever really questioned me on it?
I would probably make a joke about it tbh if it happened!
-
I think it's mainly because I'm young&bald, that I get the question occasionally!
Thanks for your replies everyone. That's appreciated.
But I guess a bald head is polarizing in a way.
Some women will be instantly INTO you just because of it, other girls not so much.... :- )
This is good in a way, since you'll have an easier time with the ones who are really turned on by you + your bald head! ;- )
-
Because I look good! 8)
-
If Its a woman, just ask her why she has split ends :)
-
Or, in the neighborhood where I grew up I simply say "The same reason you're wearing a weave (if it's a female)...I wasn't happy with my hair....and apparently you weren't happy with yours either!" If it's a guy asking this question, he needs to get/buy a life....
-
Also there are plenty of us on here who are in our early 20's, I think it's a lot to do with how you present yourself, if you wear the head with complete confidence people don't really question it. except....
I'm a guitar teacher and a young student came in the other day, looked puzzled, then asked:
'Matt, did all your hair fall out?'
'Most of it, yes'
'Did you want it to fall out?'
'Not really'
'Do you want it to grow back?'
'No, not really, I'm more aerodynamic this way'
'just thought I'd ask, cause your head is really shiny'
best unintentional compliment ever.
-

Made me larf but maybe twowrongs dont make a right . Of course by being rude itcud be cos they fancy you chat up line ?.?
-
I've had it asked a couple times. First time I straight up said it doesn't grow anymore. Seemed to make for an awkward silence. Now I use a nice line. I mention that I lost both my parents to lung cancer and I keep mine shaved to honor them and their battles.
I then show them the wallet versions of these pictures. Quite the conversation starter, especially with the ladies.

I'd be inclined to think that a lady asking why you're bald is a chat up line... and also a bit of a test to see how you react!
A simple (as recommended above) "Because I like it," is a great answer! Then move the conversation on to something else... something that'll get her talking... "Hey, what do you think of..."
Show's you're not bothered by her question and perfectly comfortable in yourself!
-

Now if it's a hot woman, who's showing interest, I would not use this line. This would only be for smart A$$ females trying to start something...On a side note, Zoom, sorry about the loss of your parents, but being bald is a nice way to honor their memory.
-
Sir Harry! You inadvertently pointed out a glaring omission to my last post!
Zoom, I too am truly sorry for the loss of your parents.
-
LOL, GOZoom, thats quite a good answer, I think. If I am in a funny mood sometimes, I like giving a silly answer to the proverbial question, "So why did you shave bald?", just to see the reaction. It's nice to mess with the heads of others --sometimes...
-
I get that question a lot, too. I usually just say it's because I got tired of having hair. Besides, it's comfortable and I think I look better bald.
-
Well if you like the woman who asks "why are you bald?", why not say because it feels great down there, you will see. >:D
-

Haha...awesome!
-
'Well, i have 2 heads that women can play with.... ;) '
-
I find that just vulgar.
-
Actually I have I told her it's cooler in this 110 weather we been having, some times I get annoyed like what's it to you? I'm bald cuz I am ok jeeze, I hate questions so.
-
The other day, when picking up my son from the babysitter, her pre-teen daughter asked me: "So what happened to your hair?", in a snide way. I then asked her, "What happened to your face?", much to the amusement of her parents. I don't usually get comments about being bald, so I'm almost never prepared. For that occasion, I was. :x!
-

+1 'pickup lines' (God forbid you actually use that one) are just demoralising to both parties.

I am always quick to drop a silly answer like that, it tends to put most people on the back foot haha, especially if they are meaning it as an insult.

That is one of those moments that a 'your face' joke just slots in nicely

nm.

I haven't really got it from girls my age (I am 25) specifically... probably more from guys. But the female variety are a curious sort anyway, so of course they are going to ask the question! I find it best just to just answer the question positively and move on, if they are interested they aren't going to care in the end... and if they do, they aren't the girl for you.
-
agreed beard man don't try and change us.
-
When friends see you for the first time sporting the bald look I get the question, they are curious and not necessarily in a bad way so it's ok; but when people that have already seen you with the look then the question is pointless: I shave because I like and that's what I want to do; isn't that obvious?
-
Even though I have been shaving for ages, I still get asked the question. In my Sly years, I have only had a few ladies ask, mostly guys that ask why I shave my head. When they ask "Why do you shave your head?" I respond with "Why did you get your hair cut/styled that way?" which they always reply with something like 'because I like it this way' or 'because it makes me look good' or even 'because it makes me feel good inside' so I always tell them I shave my head for the same reason. That normally stops the topic and we move on

Should be, but 99% of people does not get the obvious things, sadly ;)
So you need to get used to this kind of questions every time.
Sometimes it happens to me to answer a question about my slyness in front of 4, 5 people.
Believe it or not, I always have to re-explain that answer later, to everyone, once more, INDIVIDUALLY.
Even after that, most of the time they're still unable to get the point or to accept it ::)

Maybe they like hearing the story over and over again, or it's just a topic for a small chat.

Classic.
Guys never get the point immediately, WHEN they get it.
-
Someone once asked my with my shaved head if it helped me run faster, my response was yeah like a bullet. What else is there to say. :)

There is nothing more to say mate ;D

One time a friend of mine, wonderful looking woman said to me "the only reason why I like your bald look so much is because I KNOW that you can grow'em back whenever you like".
Women can be really intricate... :/O
-
People ask me that a lot I usually just tell the truth that I don't have much hair left and the look suits me anyways.
-
I think that the question is borderline rude and deflect it by just saying I like it that way. Haven't gotten it a lot in a while, though. Everyone these days seems to just accept it as a normal personal choice.
-
why because i like it ,no i :@` :@` :@` being bbc O0 O0
-

Yeah, and I just can't get their point, honestly.
Even if I have hair when I'm sly I'm sly just as everyone else.
-
"I used to wear my hair down past my ass, then I realized I was covering my best feature ;)"
-
When people ask me why I'm bald I just tell them I like the way it looks and feels. Then one of two things happen, either they ask to give it a feel or I offer them my bald noggin for a stroke.
-
Next time you get asked that say "Do you want to touch it". Many woman really want to rub and touch a mans head. I met a woman at the store when she asked " how do you get your head so shiny?"
-
I usually suggest they rub and make a wish!
-
My little niece asked this the other day....her loving uncle replied "why are you ugly" I got told off by my sister :(

:*)) O0
You are doing her a favor... teaching her how to combat criticism and cut-downs right in the moment! lol
-
....her loving uncle replied "why are you ugly"
:o Whoa.
-
My niece has a great sense of humor, even at her age....
-
Love the look
-
Catch_22--that's a great line! I don't think I'd have the nerve to use it myself, but it's a good comeback (and I like it when men are proud of their butts--never mind why!).
-
I love the look and the feel, but everyday from about age 30, I saw all grey hair in the mirror. Now I have no grey hair! (except the beard) Also, being BBC, I love when other guys say "I wish I had the balls to shave MY head."
-
If they are an adult I tell them I did it so I can walk to work 0.3 seconds faster
If it is a child I tell them I went camping with my dad on the edge of a cliff... a big gust of wind came and blue off my hair.
-
Hi, I am from India and recently because of my constantly falling hair, decided to shave my head. In India people don't accept baldness and I am constantly facing too much questions abt being bald .. Now what should be my answer to them??
-
"Because I like it"
No other explanation is necessary or warranted. Heck, even that isn't necessary -- it's really no one else's business.
-
If someone was to ask me, and i have a beard at the time, im just gonna say on the lines of "i never lost it, it just went down to my face".
But with no beard, im still thinking of a silly response, but for now im just gonna go with "cause i like it".
-
Because it's my dream...long time and I decide to become a bald man forever.
-
MPB - it is virtually the only reason aside from other rare medical conditions.
No man in their right mind would go bald out of choice if they still had hair. Every bald guy, even if they were totally content with having no hair now, would, in a heartbeat, have their hair back if they could.

There are many guys here that are bald by choice. And there are many of us that wish we would have shaved our heads earlier, even before the MPB stepped in.
-
I'm bald by choice and the last time I checked, I'm still in my right mind.
