No More Barber
« on: October 09, 2018, 04:33:04 PM »
Recently some of my buddies have complained to me about how busy it is at the barber and having to with their turn for over an hour I respond with "if you'd shave your head, you wouldn't have that problem!" I enjoy taking care of my own "haircut" in 10-15 minutes.

Yes, I remember those days when you had to wait at the barbershop and decide how you wanted it cut. And wondering how it will look, and part with $20. Now I get a haircut everyday and know exactly how it will look.

It’s true about the barber . With shaving everyday, this is only necessary if that’s what you want. Waiting 2, 3, or 4 days is no problem. Summer is daily and winter a few days between works fine.

I've only had one barber I really liked. Many years ago, it was a one chair corner barbershop in a very small town. I started wearing a flattop, and he was pretty good at cutting it. When I got in the chair, he never asked how I wanted it. He just fired up the clippers and started shearing me. Always finished with hot lather and straight razor around the edges.

Are you going for head shaves or Beard trims?  Or both?

I always enjoyed trips to "real" barber shops, but no so much for trips to "stylists"

In the words of thevthree Stoogs; “Hey! I “resemble” that remark!”

I still go to the barber twice a week for a head and face shave.   I would really miss it if I couldn’t go to the barbershop as it is I haven’t been able to work as a professional barber since June when I had my rotator cuff rebuilt

Twice a week? That sounds expensive.

I'm so happy I don't have to go to a barber/stylist, in part because of the expense of it. Where I live, haircuts are $20-$30 and because of how thick my hair is and how fast it grows I was having to get it cut once a month. My hair was a giant pain in the butt. I tried so hard to get it cut different ways and dye it different colours and nothing just seemed to work out.

Anyways, what I'm spending on 1 haircut a month I'm now spending every 3 months on razors. Shaving gel is $2.50/bottle every 3-4 weeks.

no more barber here. but if you want a TREAT, try THE ART OF SHAVING. They do the hot towel, straight razor, skin conditioning.

it's pricy but with every penny. never mind the attention.

Is never going to be as a shave at home, unfortunately.

hell yeah. slow hand of pro with crazy sharp single-edge razor. hair comes off like butter. all the treatments add to the joy.
