Title: Married Men, does you wife like your bald head?
Post by: rcg5227 on September 07, 2010, 02:33:53 PM
I was wondering if anyone else's wife likes your bald head and possibly make you keep it that way, like my wife.  :*))

Nope, doesn't like it, never did.  But, she makes sure I use sunscreen or have a hat (I'm not too fond of hats!)  She also notices any small nicks!  It's a standoff, I'm not going back to a combover or putting on the hairy toilet seat and she knows it.

It's grown on her. At first, she was very worried because she doesn't like the short buzz look on me -- I look like a Monchichi because my hair all stands on end when it's really short. Sly was just "OK" with her at first, but I overheard her at a part this weekend saying it's really grown on her and she likes it now. Only took a couple months.

So does mine, she really like the Steve Austin and Pittbull (a hip-hop artist) look. At first when I met my wife, I had hair past my shoulder, halfway down my back. Before the genetics from my dad's side took over. She seen it was thinning on top, receding hairline, and bald spot on the crown. I got it cut short about 2-3 years after we met, I was losing a little bit and you really had to look to notice it, but she did. In summer 2006 my wife made an appointment and made one for me as well. My MPB had started getting really noticeable. When I left it grow for the winter the MPB came more and more noticeable with every passing winter. She told her hair lady to just clipper it all off in April 2010. I still go with my wife to her hair lady, but her hair lady trims my goatee now. I'll let my goatee get really bushy for 2-3 weeks then have her trim it  ;D

So does mine, in fact she won't let me have hair. She says I look better bald because of my MPB.

My wife always makes sure I have sunscreen on as well, but it was my wife's idea for me to shave my head. She had her hair lady clipper it all off back in April. I thought I was getting a regular haircut, but instead I got the clippers with no guard.

Same as me, my wife's idea. I've had my Mother-in-law shave my head with a razor before, but not my wife because she is too afraid of cutting or razor burning me. My mother-in-law used Dollar General version of the 3 bladed women's razors and her women's shaving cream, plus she put an oil on my head. She did a great job. I do razor burn easily and I have to use my wife's shaving cream to shave it. I also have to use women's Gillette Sensor blades on my headblade, and put on backwards, where I'm pulling the blade instead of pushing it. If I use my headblade the way the manufacture instructs you to do, I razor burn really bad.

The Lovely Mrs. Schro hates it. I have grown it back twice with a deal that if the itching & flaking came back, I'd shave it.
Well, she knew all the scratching was pissing me off and finally gave in (I know she appreciated my effort).
She hasn't said a word since.

I'm sly for life now.

So does mine, big time. She is not only supportive, but like I said, she doesn't allow me to grow hair anymore. When my wife goes to her beautician, I just get my goatee trimmed, so I don't put the barber/beautician out of business.  O:O Her beautican is really good at trimming my goatee, she has always done a great job trimming it up. She only charges me $3, her usual price is $6 for a beard trim, but my wife and her beautician went to school and have known each other since like 5th grade.  :)

First of all, my wife and I have an understanding; she can make me do exactly what I want to do and vice versa.  Get rid of the illusion that anyone is "making you" do anything.  It's your life, your responsibility.  I don't mean to be harsh, but seriously, that kind of thinking makes me want to slap the back of your head Jethro Gibbs style.

Now that I've got that off my chest, in answer to your question, my wife loves ME.  My appearance, her appearance, those stopped making a whole hell of a lot of difference at the 10 year mark or so.

No one can really make anyone do anything in reality. I like to make her happy and want her to be content. She really can't physically make me do anything. It was my wife's idea for me to shave my head , because of MPB, and she really likes the way it looks on me. If it makes her happy, I'll do it because I love her dearly. She loves me dearly as well. In reality, like I said above she cannot physically make me do anything.  I really don't want my wife to cut her hair short, so she let it grow a little past her shoulders.  I've just made the decision to keep it that way, in return she has done the same. I am going to love her either way. You are correct about apperances. I'm nearly close to the 10 year mark in my marriage as well, but we are at young age (I'm 31 and she is 36.) where we want to look good for appearance. It's just a younger age thing. I'm sure that will pass in time and maybe in 10 years we won't care anymore.
I only started this topic just to see how others would respond and answer. It was a spur of the moment decision and an idea. I was just curious to see if other sly guys' wives felt about shaving their heads. It was more out of curiosity more than anything.

My wife as well encouaged me to do it. When I shaved my head the first time in the late spring of 2006, it was her idea. I didn't like it at first, but with much positive encouragement, it grew on me. I really like it now and feel comfortable with it. When I first shaved my head, I'd never go in public without a hat. Now I almost always go without a hat. Starting in 2006, I only shaved my head in the summer months. I had it shaven in April 2010 and decided I am just going to keep it shaven bald, plus it makes my wife really happy.  :)

I'm one of the lucky ones - my wife married me as a sly guy and loves the look on me - told me she wouldn't want me to grow it back even if there were a magic pill that would give me a full head of hair again.

When I WAS married, no, she didn't like it. On several occasions begged me to grow it back. Told her flat out, no. One time I made a comment about liking the color she had dyed her hair. She said she would continue to dye it that color if I grew mine back. Told her no way. However, the girlfriend I have now LOVES my SLY noggin and the recently grown full beard. Good thing too...

I've been married for almost 10 years now and when i met my wife, I had naturally curly light brown hair, that was past my shoulders. She likes the goatee, but she would not like a full beard. She never was a beard person, but I've had the goatee for the vast majority of our marriage. Even with long hair, I had the goatee.

Mine has said things like, "I'm not used to it," which probably means no, although one month in, she is now saying, "I'm used to the front but not the back." She hasn't expressed active dislike. Things about my appearance have grown on her before so the sly look might as well. Regardless, it's here to stay so she may as well get used it from the back as well!

I saw this old thread, thought I would revive it. Well... my s/o liked me sly for awhile, after a couple of months I grew it back for a month. Then she knew I wanted to shave it again, so I had her do the shaving on me. About a week later, she finally told me she much prefers me with hair(I'm BBC). Now 2 weeks into regrowing hair, I really want to shave it again. Although she told me to do whatever I want, I really want to make her happy. We have only been together for about 8 months, and I tend to put her wants and needs before my own. I've been on a steady weightloss routine, and have 10 more lbs to meet my goal. I think I will tell her my reward will be a return to sly.

Mine loves it, especially right after I shave it.  --I'm not BBC, so I don't have the option of growing out a nice full head of hair either.  This makes it a lot easier for the wife to pick Sly.

Reddog, maybe you just need to give her some extra attention right now...she may just feel a little insecure in the new (8 month) relationship with you looking so sly and losing weight at the same time.

It took my wife more than two months, probably more like six months of daily shaving, for her comments to go from "Why don't you just let your hair grow back out" to "You need a shave, I don't like the sandpaper feel or sound on the pillow when you move."  Give it more time, and she will accept.

Neither of my wives had a problem with my shaved head....I only shaved intermittently during my first marriage and went sly for good during the second. Well, I gave in to the s/o and grew my hair back for over a month. Last Sunday, she went to a new church and came home and mentioned there were a lot of shaved heads there. Hmmm, looking at shaved heads? So on Monday she got a new hairdo and color, and  hinted that I'm due for a new do. She said get the razor out and do your thing.

So I am sly again!! I emailed her a photo after shaving, and she said I look amazing. She now thinks I look best bald, and said keep it shaved. Yea.

It took my wife a few weeks to accept my new look nearly 10 years ago.  Once in the interim I thought I would see how it grew back (if it did) and she told me 'get that stuff off your head'.  Nowadays she comments on how bad men look with combovers and toupees.  It's a funny world isn't it.

When I was balding, my wife always said I looked great. Now that I'm shaved, she still thinks I look great. My hair has never been an issue for her. When my kids were little, they used to suggest I grow back my "wedding hair," not knowing that was impossible. My wife told them I looked much better bald.  The facial hair, well that's another story!  ^-^
