For me well it's quite simple..
Shaving Gel, Headlube, massage Oil.

start with shaving gel in my bowl,.. stir it up.. to lather.. then add some headlube.. stir i tup........ and last I had some massage oil form the Dollar Rama..heehhehe stir it up real good.. and then apply warm water to face.. after that it's the Dome...All done at the sink.

once I'm completely shaved... I take what's left of the cream wet my Dome and reaply a cream.. go for another shave.. just to make sure I didn't miss any spots..

How the he** do you get used to the HeadBlade? I've tried it a couple of times and it doesn't feel natural...Although I do like the HeadShed and ClearHead a lot.

Shower shaving vs. sink, I would have to say its the shower for me. Its easier and the cold water rinse feels great on the slick head.

Lastly, using Olay, Touch of Sun is helping my white irish Sly, I am now turning a slight yellow after 3 days...

 :/O :/O ;D

If you're using the HeadBlade from front to back and back to front you have to think of it as rubbing your head, with your palm open and faced down, using just your fingers.  Remember that you don't have to apply very much pressure.  If you're gong from front to back, the blade will face your thumb.  From back to front, the blade will face your pinky finger.

I'm a newbie and haven't read every post to this thread.

That means forgive me if I'm going over old ground.

I just wanted to get my shaving routine up ASAP as I
think it's original (as far as I can tell based on the posts
to this thread that I've read so far).

First off, I use an electric.  In the posts to this thread I
haven't read of a single person using an electric.

Next, again I'm a newbie to head shaving but I've read
a lot of stuff on HeadShaver.org  There it's not looked
down upon to use an electric.  In fact there is one or
more units that are highly rated.

Okay, here's my current routine (subject to change as
good advice comes along):  I'm super cheap and didn't
buy anything new when I decided to start shaving my
head.  As luck would have it, I had a Gillette Mach 3 and
what has turned out to be a great electric right off the
bat (a run-of-the-mill Remington).

It used to take about 5 minutes to shave my face using
the Mach 3.  Now it's about 20 minutes to shave my face
and head--to me that's a significant slice of time.

I use the electric (Remington MS2-280) to shave my head
and the Mach 3 to shave my face.  I use the electric on
my head because I'm trying to minimize razor bumps and
cuts.  The first time out I used the Mach 3 and lather.
I was disappointed with the results and how long it took.
I ended up with a lot of cuts and bumps, and the process
was a pain in the ass.  With the electric the process is
effortless.  No special treatment at all (no hot water,
towels, lather, or anything like that).  All one has to
do is pick up the razor and go.

The point I want to put forth is the pure cheapskate angle.
Based on what I've read, it seems like most head shavers
use too much "product" (special stuff that's not necessary).
I've looked at a lot of pictures, and for all of the extra effort
no ones look has impressed me.  A shaved head is a shaved
head.

For the last 10 years I've looked for ways to save money
on personal grooming.  Most of that, obviously, was about
cutting out barbers.  I've purchased over $100 worth of
hair cutting tools.  Over time I've come out ahead.

In the last year or so my hair has thinned and grayed to the point where
I'm dissatisfied with any hair style I can produce using the tools
at my disposal.  That's why I decided to start shaving my head.
As far as I'm concerned, shaving my head is the best hairdo
I can produce given my tools and income

That's why I'm here.  I think I can help others who are looking
for the lowest cost option.

Here it is: Shave your face as you normally would.
By accident I use a Gillette Mach 3 which turns out to be a
great manual razor--probably the best deal out there right
now seeing as how Gillette has introduced a newer fancier
razor.  Step 2: Shave your head using your electric.  In fact,
you can start with step 2 and shave your face later.  That's
the sweet part of this deal--there are no special steps.
With a decent electric all you need to do is grab and go.
That's the point I want to emphasize.  No lotions, lather
or special steps--just grab the razor and get started.
In a matter of minutes it's over and done with.  How close
the shave is a function of the razor and the effort put forth.

For example, my old Remington MS2-280 can shave
my head as close as a blade (smooth both with and against
the grain) if I'm willing to spend the time.  Further, I get
fewer bumps when compared to a blade.

kd6tas, welcome to Sly Bald Guys! It's good to have another head shaver here, whether you use an electric or blade.  Most of us agree that how you get it sly doesn't matter since we all have our own preferences.

For example, I myself shaved my head with an electric when I started Sly Bald Guys back in August.  I just found that for me, I'm able to get a better shave with a blade.  But, that's me.  David and others here also use electrics, so you're not alone.
