@Mike EP:  Hi Mike... I love that Pearl razor pic.  Sounds like you are enjoying your DE shaves.
Glad that I am not the only one.   O0

Warhawk:  Shave #2 went better.  It is a different feel handling the DE razor.  I'm taking it slow on the strokes.  No nicks yet.  I like the way that you can hear the razor working, if there is any hair to cut.

Just recently new to DE shaving but Warhawk sent me some blades to try and I'm loving it! Typically on do DE shaving when I've got some extra time (mainly on weekends) recently I've been growing a beard so I've been using the DE more often for neckline only. Still working on the head shave thing. I can get the front and sides with no problem but the back is quite the challenge! Sticking with it though.

Missed shaving for about 5 days. Had a lot to shave off. Started with my Edwin Jagger double edge. Still using the original blades that came with it. Started with a lemon sugar scrub to lube my hair. My wife is rolling her eyes as I dictate this to the post. And I'm still learning how to use the double age, so I finished up with my head blade ATX to catch a few spots the one to smooth as I would like.

Oh yes finished up with something not a rum aftershave. wife like the smell.

Yesterday's SOTD:  Saturday, January 24, 2015 SOTD

Razor:  Mongoose B1 w/ UFO Torpedo Handle

Blade:  Feather Professional

Soap:  CRSW (Cold River Soap Works) Select Paradise

Brush:  Simpson Duke 3

Dessert:  Ice cube rub, refrigerated WH, refrigerated FINE Fresh Vetiver

I am trying out a new shave soap called Cold River Soap Works or CRSW Select.  This is my
2nd time using this shave soap and so far I am loving it.  It gives a super, slick, thick lather
with great protection.  I look forward to using it more.

@SlickChromeDome:  Here is a trick on how I shave the back of my head.  I always bend my head forward with my chin touching the top part of my chest.  This maneuver allows the
head to stretch out so I get real close shaves on the back of my head.  I also do ATG (against the grain) and a diagonal against the grain.  Hope it works for you.

@Mr.Zed:  Hi Dan:  Glad that you are still sticking with the DE razor.  It is challenging.  It took me a month to get comfortable.  Keep at it and your safety razor will reward you with great shaves.

Great tip Warhawk! I'll have to give that a try. I always feel like I'm gonna slice the back of my head cause it's so tricky. Thanks!!

I was terrible at the back of my head at first. I almost quit, but I'm glad I stuck with it. The back is no problem now. I use my hands to feel the way and I do a with the grain, across the grain, and then against the grain pass. That gives me a very smooth shave indeed!

I don't have any trouble with the back, I do it by feel, no mirror. The only trouble spots for me is right above my ears. My hairline grows right down to the ear. It's the only spot I use a cartridge razor.

I only shave against the grain. I can really be aggressive and don't get any irritation using the DE.

Caution: Friends don't let friends shave drunk.  Never though of mixing head shaving with a beer or glass of wine.

Today's shave:

OK, I need an index of equipment. Some of you guys are so good at remembering brand names and models.

Start with a lemon scented oil and sugar scrub.
Edwin Jagger Razor, with Derby blade
Shave soap from Walgreens
Brush (same as before) from Amazon.com
Touch up with Headblade ATX

Man, there's a lot of hair trimmings in the sink.  Gotta clean up the mess.

Dessert, Pinaud Bay Rum.  Wife likes the scent. Me too.

I'm still learning the DE shaving techniques.

LOL, Dan. The wine or whiskey adds to my overall experience! If I'm shaving in the morning, there will be coffee!

Brush: Generic cheapo(but works fine)

After: Witch hazel, alum block, Afta after shave conditioner.(I get this at Walmart for $2, it works great and gives a little shine.
