Razor:  Weber ARC w/ Bulldog Handle

Blade:  Polsilver Super Iridium

Soap:  Mike's Natural Soap (Lemongrass & Eucalyptus)

Brush:  Simpson P8

Dessert:  Ice cube rub, refrigerated WH, refrigerated Captain's Choice

Cologne:  Polo Blue

I have been enjoying my Petal Pusher Fancies & Speick lately that I have neglected Mike's Natural Soap.  I am so glad that I revisited it because it confirms why Mike's Natural Soap is still one of my favorites.  Gents. . . if you haven't tried Mike's Natural Soap you will not be disappointed.

I feel like I haven't posted here in an age, and I don't have the artistic skills of Warhawk, but here we go:

Wednesday February 12th, 2014 face SOTD

Razor:  Feather All Stainless D1

Blade:  Polsilver Super Iridium

Soap:  Mike's Natural Soap (Lemongrass & Eucalyptus)

Brush:  Whipped Dog Silvertip (first time with it today)

Dessert:  witch hazel, Nivea ASB (cheap but great!)

I think this is my 4th time (consecutive days!) with the Feather, 3rd time with this particular blade.  I know some find the feather razor too mild and can't find the best angle, but I just picked it up and got great shaves right away.

I can only agree with Warhawk about Mike's soaps.  This particular "flavour" I didn't appreciate at first because I had trouble lathering it.  I soon got past that though!

@ Bluebriz:  Hi Brian, glad that you are enjoying your Feather AS-D1.  That is a beautiful razor.  I am glad that you are liking the Polsilver Super Iridium blade that is one of my favorites.   I think Feather, Astra SP, Polsilver Super Iridium, and Gillette Silver Blue and Voskhod are my favorites as far as DE blades.    I am glad that the Mike's Natural Soap is working for you.  It is a very thirsty soap.

How do you like the Whipped Dog badger brush?  I have heard many great things about the brush and the great service that Larry from Whipped Dog provides.

@Djones:  That is great you are loving the C&E shave soaps.  I'm not a computer guy but you should still try posting some pics.  Try using TapaTalk when posting pics as another option.

Today was my second day using the EJ89. I was using a crappy cream so I tried to find something better. The best I could do in a pinch was a Van Der Hagen soap I found at Walmart. I picked that up with a styptic pencil!

Well, I thought I did better today than yesterday. I did three passes with only a couple of red spots on my neck. Then I got bold and attempted my head. I was scared, but that actually went better than I expected. I did three passes and cleaned up the parts I missed with my generic Mach 3.

All in all, I got a pretty good shave. However, in the end when I looked in the mirror I got quite a razor burn on my neck. Not sure what I did wrong.

But all's well. I also picked up some Old Spice for nostalgia's sake. Now I smell like my dad.

Hi Mike:  I'm so glad that you are trying out the traditional way of shaving.  Welcome to the club.  I will suggest that you be patient and take your time on your face shaves and more importantly your head shaves.

As always.... YMMV, it took my about two weeks to be very proficient with my DE face shaves and almost a month on my head shaves.  I look forward to following your journey into the traditional way of shaving and if you have any questions please PM me or post up any questions.

I'm on day 2 of using my new razor (the micro touch one safety razor), it's a good blade for a reasonable price and it comes with it's own stand. It's lighter than a traditional DE which leads me to believe that it's being marketed to guys who are intimidated by safety razors. Despite being a light razor it's still a very nice shave.

Been using the Micro touch one, it has solved all of the irritation and razor burn problems I was having. I don't know why I didn't try a 1 piece DE sooner, this is so easy to clean and change the blade on. My other Razors are either 2 or 3 piece razors.
For shaving I use Taylor of Oldbond street sensitive.
I'm going to pick up a new brush when I get a chance; I've been eyeballing a silver tip badger by Simply beautiful. Presently I use a Semogue 2,000.

Late entry:  Saturday Nite SOTD, April 5, 2014

Ever Ready Streamline

GEM blade

Mystic Water Sandalwood Rose

Semogue 620

Ice cube rub, refrigerated WH, refrigerated Osage Rub

For any one looking for a quality & affordable boar brush,  I highly recommend the Semogue brush.  It is made by a family in Portugal.  They are the best boar brushes on the planet, IMO.  Pictured is the famous Semogue 620.
