Title: Greasy scalp
Post by: Ulf on May 22, 2020, 06:31:28 AM
Hey everyone, don't know if that's the right place to ask my question sorry if not.

So I have been shaving the sides of my head for 6 month.

I did it cause I have seborrheic dermatitis.

Worked great. But. I don't know if it comes from the dermatitis, my scalp is greasy.
Even if I wash it with soap, it end up being greasy.
And so my pillow, and therefor, my face, and my hair got greasy way faster.

Is there a way to stop this ?

Thanks, and sorry for my english (French native here)

Sorry, but I cannot help with that one.  Maybe you could use wipes a few times through the day?  I have no idea what could be causing it.

Could be the soap that you use, some of them wash too good, that left the skin dry...try with a less agressive one and use moisturize at the end.

Don't shave if you're going to workout or do any activity that makes you sweat because can irritate the pores.

Try to change your pillow case more often.

I'm mostly washing my scalp only when it's greasy when I don't shave.

And changing pillow case don't help (hence my post)

I agree whatever soap you’re using is stripping your skin of moisture so your skin produces a lot of oil to try to trap the moisture back in.  Try using a very very mild soap like dove and make sure whatever you use is unscented.

I have an oily scalp , and just wipe it with a plain wash cloth and warm water , when needed . Using to much soap could be a problem.

I only use soap cause my scalp is greasy. Never used soap on my scalp before.
