Headblade (moto) questions
« on: April 01, 2019, 02:47:58 PM »
Hey guys,

I have recently shaved my head and I am looking into buying an headblade moto. I did send a query to headblade but their answer was.. bad to say the least. They missspelled like 10 words, including my name. Their answer was not helpful at all, but I was not expecting it to me, as it was regarding non-HB replacement blades.

So, hopefully you fine folks can help me. First, let me start by saying that I find it pathetic that the blades are not compatible across all HB products and we've to buy adapters and research on what fits what... And 18eur for official blades? Damn.

So, I am interesting in the HB moto but I want cheaper blades, so I am looking for compatible blades that will fit the moto. I heard of dorco blades, namely these ones: https://www.amazon.es/Dorco-Pace-4-Cuchillas-afeitar/dp/B01DP0KKN8/ref=sr_1_13?keywords=dorco&s=gateway. I guess those would be compatible with some sort of adapter, right? Now, HB's site has 3 adapters!! Jesus christ:

1. https://www.headblade.eu/en/hb3-adapter.html
2. https://www.headblade.eu/en/gillette-sensor-adapter.html
3. https://www.headblade.eu/en/hb4-hb6-adapter.html

So, my question is: Which adapter should I buy for the HB moto in order to save some good $$ on the blades?

I would also love if you guys could provide links to alternative blades (from an european seller) and reference to which adapter I need for said blades. Really sorry for asking so much of you, but this really confuses me.

Thank you very much in advance.

You would need the hb4-6 adapter to use the dorco 4 and 6 blade carts... when you get the dorco cartridges you need to remove the universal adapter with a pair of pliers. Shown in this video here

If you buy the ATX you won't need the adapters...

Thank you for the reply Brucifer!
I should probably also buy the gillete sensor adapter, right? In the future I might want to use gillete sensor blades (I guess those are readily available).

Also, you suggest I get the ATX or the Moto? Which one is "better"?

Thank you again!

I have an ATX and I know it doesn't require an adapter for the dorco blades which is why I brought it up. If you anticipate using other blades then yeah get the adapter. I don't see any reason to to get it because I have a ton of dorco cartridges. their prices are much better then anyone else's and I stock up when there's a sale.

In all honesty I haven't used my head blade in months. I am using different products at this point.

Regards,
Bruce

@boldbald if you can get Dorco blades, I recommend the HB2/Hb3 adapter with the Dorco Twin Blades. Or you can use the Sensor adapter with these Personna blades - https://amzn.to/2DkvdIN

You mention something about needing to acquire a HB4-HB6 adapter if one wants to use the Dorco 6 blades. Do the HB6 blades come with the adapter you're speaking of? Just trying to get clarification on that detail.

Thank you.

I was just told by someone from Headblade that the Dorco blades do NOT work with any of the HB shavers, regardless of using an adapter. Which Dorco 6 blade are you using? The 6, 6 Plus, or 6 Power?

@HANDSHAVED I personally use the Dorco twin blades on my Moto, but it's my understanding that the Dorco 6 blades will work with a minor adjustment to the cartridge.

Oh OK.

Do you use the twin blades for irritation reduction? Which attachment did you need to use the twins on your Moto?

I find that I get the best shave with the twin blades. I use this adapter - https://www.headblade.com/product/91206.html

This is what I learned from here and shopping around.
There are three headblade adapters/holders: sensor (only for sensor), HB2-3 (atra and other 2-bladed cartridges), and HB4-6 (dorco pace 4 and 6, with a small mod to make it work). At some point these holders were easily distinguishable by color, but that no longer applies.
Now, the thing is HB says holders are not 100% interchangeable, yet some users say the moto takes all 3 holders while HB's website suggests and implies it only takes the HB4-6 holder/adapter. IME, HB doesn't give definitive answers and instead gives an answer around the following lines: "it was designed to take the blades our users favored on previous models and that is the HB4".
IME Dorco's and HBs are the same blade to the price is the deciding factor.

Which version of the Dorco/Pace 6 Blade cartridges fit the adapter, or do all of them fit with no glitches?
