Howdy All- I know I pop in and out.... I will try to be more consistant.
Since I had posted last I was deployed to Iraq. it was quiet.... no worries....
Recently I've been "possessed" again and since a branch of the military declared 1/4" is good to go, I've been keeping it short and when there's longer breaks between drills, I've been shaving it. I found a Floyd's Barbershop (it's a new barbershop chain cross the country) that does heavy duty men's and women's barbering to include straight razor (disposable blade) shaving. I found a guy I went to twice and really enjoyed it. He is very through and it takes 1 1/2 hours for a head shave. I tip him $25.
They don't make me feel uncomfortable and it really is like a day at the spa. Just LOVE it!!
Missed everyone.

Welcome back.

Thanks... the urge comes and goes but I seem to be hitting a "don't give a ______ what people think" phase and it's a strong one.
Appreciate the post.

Ok, I will admit that I'm not a big fan of the sly look on ladies (sorry), but it does suit you very, very well.
Welcome back!
Schro
ps...1.5 hrs for a shave? Do they serve you a cocktail (or three) during process?
-
LOL.. no worries... everyone is welcome to their opinions. :) I don't have the "melon" thing going on with my pin head so that's a plus.
My jobs, personality, etc... it just seems to fit and work for me. Plus hubby really likes it so GTG (good to go).
Lord help him if he did serve adult beverages!
He knocks it down to a 1 or zero then does the soap and hot towel thing a few times....
He's a slow scraper and is very meticulous. He uses a few different kinds of lotions/liquids.
I certainly don't rush him and tip very well.
It's like getting a back rub. Very realxing...
Thanks for your post.
xoxoxo,
Laura

Thanx..... gotta let it go until Sept 17, then another visit to Floyd's Barbershop!! :)

Laura, you look great sly!

Welcome back Laura. How did it go in Iraq.?
-
It was quiet. I was with a CLB and our main job was to pack up gear after seven years of occupation. Our guys made trips out to the FOBs but no serious hits. Everyone went home.
It was a good group of people and I do not regret volunteering. Interesting experience.
Thanks for asking.
xoxoxo,

Welcome back Laura. You look great sly.
Also, Thanks for your service. I appreciate it.
I was in the U.S. Army for 3 years from August, 1966 until August, 1969. I spent 1 year in Vietnam. We have already had 2 reunions for our Unit over there. What a great time it was to see people again. SOme I hadn't seen in over 40 years.
:)

Hello and thank you for your service!! How wonderful to have not one but two Reunions! Events like that can be a pain to organize but what a pleasure to attend. Good for you!! It's good to get back to the roots and "touch back" like that.
Have a great summer and thank you for your reply! :)

You must be a very strong lady with a lot of self confidence to shave your head. Congrats! It suits you very well. What was the reaction of family, friends and people who knew you with hair when they first saw your bald head?
-
I've had between 1/4"- 1" for some time now.... years..... so as this was a shock, it wasn't that much of a shock. I'm old enough now where I can say I'm happy with my shaved head and so is my hubby so don't give a rats a$$ what others think.
Most everyone that knows me just smiles....
The military is the only thing now I need to concern myself with. Have to have it 1/4" by drill time.
I'm at the three day shadow here....
Thanks for your post.

Hi Laura. I'm new here (2 week anniversary tomorrow). I have to say I wouldn't recomend to most woman that a shaved head would be attractive but I'm always amazed when I see one that I think "She has a pretty face". And you can definitely pull it off.

Welcome!! I lurk and pop in and out... hope to be more consistant here myself and I do appreciate the comments.
I think what I hope to achieve here most is demonstrate that some women have/like long hair and I like/have no hair. It's no big deal. Different but no big deal.
People need to get past their original perceptions- whatever they may be.
I'd like to think beyond the shaved head, I'm a fun loving broad with a great sense of humor.
Baldness isn't something that just men should enjoy.
:)
Have a great summer- what's left of it!

Thanks Laura,
I hope that You can keep in touch with some of your those that You were overseas with. It took us a long time to get together again but we did it thanks to my buddy who put in the time to attempt to locate everyone. I found the reunions to be very rewarding.
I wish you the best of luck now and always.
:)

Yep- with today's technology there's no excuse not to email and keep in touch. heaven forbid we'd ever have to go back to the archaic pen and paper!! :)
Facebook is excellent and lots of us stay in touch that way also.
Nice night out here in IL... hope same for you!

"People need to get past their original perceptions- whatever they may be."
Laura, truer words were never spoken. There are a number of posts on the Forum of guys who afraid that people will think they're skinheads or neo-Nazis or racists if they go sly. People make generalizations about others with no basis in fact and that's where the problems start.
You look great sly and I'm sure you're a good person. Anyone who would judge you because of your hairstyle is petty at best.
-
Thanks.... appreciate your thoughts.. if everyone only felt that way.
I have perceptions.. everyone does..it's hard going against what you've been told or raised with. I get that but it doesn't mean that is correct and putting that aside takes a serious dose of self-realization.
It's even harder being a chick.. a few more generalizations are cast out there but once again.... I don't give a rats behind.
I thank god I don't have a knob head and I try to be a good person.... not easy but I think I'm heading in the right direction each day. Life is short.
xoxoxo to you Sir and have a great day!

You are looking very good Laura...I think women that dare to shave look great and very sexy. O0
-
Wow... thanks!!! Your check is in the mail....
Just kidding but I do appreciate the comment. Makes up for all the "Sirs" I get..... it's rough being tall, no hair and not well endowed. Bad combination.
Dyed the stubble blonde this afternoon... it's 11 days until I shave again. :(
xoxoxo,

Oh we need a photo of the blond fuzz...don't sound like it's regulation to this ol' Jarhead.[/b O:O
-
LOL.. here Ya go.... and no... not regs... :-[ I "try to make sure I "get in the mood" with two weeks to spare so I get into the 1/4" range by drill. Very happy they finally quantified the minimum hair length for females.
HOORAH!!!

PS- that's 9 days growth. Drill on Sunday.
-
I think I like it natural better...if you want bald they should let you shave it.
-
Too much gray in the "natural" look. :D
People get freaked out by 1/4" as it is... I'm thankful I can keep it that short.
-
Blonde stubble..LOL...your First Shirt is gonna have a ball.
-
:XX
-
Premature gray is it.....I had to agree that the first shirt will definitely have a comment. :Xo!
-
Welcome back,you look great.
-
Thanks..... forgot how much I missed being shaved! :)
Like a day at the spa.
