I have really enjoyed being a bald fella but the cold is starting to really get to me!!!
I know,i know:wear a hat.But that defeats the purpose of being a bald sly one.
I have headaches everyday for two weeks due to a cold head.
That part sucks.

That's a drag, man.
I guess my head ain't got cold enough to be really uncomfortable. I like the feeling of the brisk autumn morns on the noggin.
-
come to south lousyana. i am still wearing shorts. I HATE THE HEAT!!!!!
-
Here in my part of the midwest, it's that in-between time where it's 40's in the morning when I leave the house and 70's when I come home. Hard to know how to dress. Just have to have layers thay you can take off and put back on. Today it's thunderstorms and cold. Sounds like a day inside.
-
I love the cold on my noggin. Like Rick said.....its been in the lower 40's in the mornings. I like it when i get out of the shower and stand out side and let the cold air hit my noggin. :px But I HAVE TO REMIND MYSELF....I LIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF TOWN....I ....MUST....GET.....DRESSED.....BEFORE.....I ...STAND....OUT ....SIDE.....IN ....THE....COLD......lol.
I would hate to get thrown in jail for exposing oscar mayer that early in the morning..LOL
Who the hell eats hotdogs for breakfast anyways...
-
I'm also a big fan of cold on the noggin. When it gets down below freezing, I may wear a hood, but on a sunny day, no matter how cold ... I love it!
-
Personally I think a hat looks smashing with the bald noggin peeking out from around the edges.

You know, since some things shrink when they get cold, you might not even get noticed. :*)) And Hey, if it's cold enough, you could just say your part of "Blue Man Group". :*)) Ok, I know. That was bad. :D

Tims neighbor in Washington,Indiana giving in an interview to the local news channel.
"There goes that crazy bald guy again. His antics are starting to bother our neighborhood and the community as a whole. Yesterday he came outside completley naked except for a pair of slippers and stood on his front porch for 5 minutes. He seemed to be savoring the cold air on his bald noggin. I am starting to feel for the safety of my children"
I too love the feel of cold air on the dome. Makes me feel alive.

I'm not down with the cold first thing in the morning, or when the wind is kicking hard, but any other time I can roll with it.
-
Suggest you get a pull over hat for outside wear only, I've got one with a type of lining that's soft and warm. It can be stuffed in the coat pocket easily. Now as you say the purpose is "bald" but on a cold day, if you don't care for cold or you're just out the the gym and sweating, it does feel good. A plus is pulling it off when you get inside and getting the "look" from people--priceless!

Oh c'mon Handlebar, man up....... :*))

I always pack a beanie in the winter, being sly is one thing freezing your a** off is another. Like said above, just wear a hat outside and take it off indoors. At least around here if it is cold out it seems it is about 80 degrees in every store or restaurant.
-
I too allways have a beenie or my hoodie in the winter but I have been trying to condition the skull for the weather and going full sly alot. It depends on the wind on whether I can take too much of the cold.
-
how about looking for a hat that really complements your sly look
(fedora? derby? or good old beanie / watch cap?
John

I'm half Finnish, so chilly is fine with me. Once the wind chill kicks into gear, then I may throw a hat on.

I was at a party Friday night, and one of the guys in my little group said just about this same thing. I was going to tell him about the wonders of knit caps and hooded sweatshirts, but then I realized that I could use his lack of slyness to my advantage. As long as he grows out whatever is left of his hair, I will continue to look much better than he does with my well-maintained dome. I know it sounds mean and possibly unbecoming an SBG, but I need all the help I can get in the dating department.

Here in the UK it does get pretty cold, so cold in fact that if you go out for a walk with out a hat then when you walk into a heated building, it can give you a nasty head ache! I always wear a woolie Bobble hat (minus the Bobble of course). Another advantage wearing a woolie hat is if you have not shaved your head for a day, you get that 'Velcro' effect when you take your woolie hat off, Makes my Lady laugh every time lol

Yeah a buddy of mine dropped me to the floor once, had the same effect with my hoodies. he went to pull it off from behind and it stuck like glue. my fav is the head stream. Used to happen alot when I worked at Brinks in the winter time.

I love the cold on my dome. I guess I'd better, I live in the Midwest. I see there's at least one other KC dweller here (SLYinKC). Thanks for the invite, whoever sent it to me on MySpace.

Welcome, Geekstr, Glad you've joined us. Good to have another KC guy.

Although I prefer heat, cold really doesn't bother me. Usually, I'll put on a baseball style hat and be good to go.
Although, I went for a run Thanksgiving morning (we had our first freezing morning) and I put on one of those Under Armour style lycra caps to stay warm during the run. This "hat" (actually made by Adidas) made a huge difference. It's a lycra style thing that is pretty slick. Granted I wouldn't wear this in the everyday public (not my style), I'm impressed with it during the run.
-
Its rare I feel cold enough on the old noggin to wear a hat, though occasionally I do wear a beanie. hats just don't suit me, and I don't like hidin' the dome anyways.
Quite like the feelin of the cold on my head though: feels safer than havin the hot sun in the summer
-
Don't tell me about cold, I live in Lapland. Temperatures around -5 F are not even rare here during winter. Currently it's only 23 F though.
-
I wear a beanie, but I am getting used to the cold.
But today after work it was snowing and getting pelted with big chunks of snow sucked.

Thanks guys and thanks for the invite. I'll post about myself in the intro thread.

I live in the Mid-West too and it's usually pretty cold most winter mornings. I'm usually half asleep as I step out of the house to head for work but all it takes is a cool breeze across the bare scalp and I'm wide awake by the time I get to my truck.
I love that feeling. You definitely know you're alive when that cold air hits a freshly showered head.
It probably helps that I grew up in an ice rink and played hockey since I was a kid.
Hey...you think that damn helmet could have done this to my dome? I probably shouldn't have kept cleaning the inside of it with Nair.
Stay warm fellas, except for the domes, keep 'em cool.
Adam

I usually wear a baseball cap to protect myself during the other-than-winter months. For Winter, it's beanie all the way. But I like the breeze on my scalp.
It takes a lot of pride and confidence for someone to shave their scalp in the dead of winter. I was up at Mohegan Sun (Connecticut) last week and you would be surprised how many shaved guys (including the casino staff) and it was 25 degrees outside.
BTW-great pic AdamZHeadz.

I don't mind the cold it's the wind that gets me!

You hit the nail on the head man. Wind blows!!!

I agree with bootedbear! I enjoy the hat to keep the noggin warm but when I get in a store etc..
the hat comes off!
-
i wear either a beanie or a hoodie, it was 5 degrees tonight in Northern Colorado, it snowed here from thursday to saturdy, but sometimes here in northern colorado it can get into the 60's and the 70's in december, in 2005, and in december of 2006, we had a bad blizzard here in northern colorado that dumped 25 inches of snow
-
I havent had the pleasure of experiencing a sub zero winter yet as a Sly guy. Rarely does the temp in Sydney drop below 50F. I do enjoy the cool night breeze though.
I hate the feeling of a beanie after 24 hour stubble.
-
minus 26 this morning.. :/O :/O :/O it's crazy to early for this cold.
-
For the "Frozen" Slys, just to let you know, here in the Cresent City it was 82 yesterday, 79 predicted for today. Sweat, not wind, is the word here. I'm a day short of two months, and I've never had to deal w/ heat & high humidity, & the sweat runs because there's nothing to hold on to! Going to start carrying some Headwipes on days like this. Next summer is going to be interesting!
-
Hey Jdog! It was 28 degrees here yesterday and put my beanie after 24 stubble!
It was like positioning some velcro on my head!
-
It really hasnt been that cold here yet. It has gotten down to the mid 20's a few nights...but everyone ask me if my head gets cold. Well my head really doesnt get cold but my legs do for some odd reason....i guess all the heat is being sucked out thru my head and being that my legs are the lowest body part....heat rises....so I know Im rambling....I cant believe Im even on here...i should be in bed....sick as a dog here....but I gotta connect with my bald bro's
-
70 percent of heat is lost through the head, cap it and retain it!
-
I'm in New Hampshire Now and its 27 degrees here now.
-
We're forcasted for an ice storm tonight. They say there should be an inch of ice by tomorrow. Schools have already all cancelled for tomorrow. Hope this isn't one of those times where we're all stuck inside for a couple of days and can't get out.
-
i wore shorts and flip-flops today. >:D

I put some Hawaiian music on...had the sun lamps out...put tanning lotion on...had my self a nice island drink put my speedo on ...and jumped in the tub. LOL
-
COLD? COLD? YA WANT COLD? it was so cold at the detroit zoo , the POLAR BEARS were SO COLD they were hovered around a fire barrel and had seals in the bbq
-
i wore shorts and flip-flops today. >:D
same here. The beauty of being a southerner. ;D
-
WELL... I WORE SHORTS, FLIP FLOPS AND A TANKTOP YESTERDAY ALSO, BUT I WAS IN THE HOUSE :*)), i guess for the middle of december , its not TOOOO bad for here in mich.! USUALLY weve had a decent snow fall by this timeand weve ONLY had a dusting SO FAR! HOPEFULLY we'll luck out this winter and not have any MAJOR snofalls . I KNOW the snofall is a part of natures cycle to keep the rivers and lakes up to normal levels , but when ya have bottled water companyz pumping over a MILLION gallons a yer out of lake st. clair its kinda hard to want to have to shovel snow just to keep the eco system on schedule

Pink Bunny slippers

-2 here today and wouldn't have it any other way!It was cold to get up during the night for firecalls.
-
I grew up in cld weather and I get a charge out of Texans. it drops to 50 degrees here and you actually see people in down parkas. Fireman-dont know about firefighting in cld weather but cop is no fun. dealing with car crashes on the ice aint no fun
-
That's a drag that the cold air gives you a headache, maybe you should check with a DR. about that.
When I walk out into the cold the first thing in the morning it is like a rush, never felt so alive. However I do have a beanie if I am out there for too long...
-
I like the feeling of the cold crisp and fresh morning air hitting my freshly shaved noggin in the morning. I only wear a cap if im going to be out for a long period of time. But normally Im just sitting here at my desk at work in my "Chair" doing nothing but wasting my day gabbin it up with all you crazy folks.
It just goes with the territory. We southern midwesterners...laugh at the southerners because they get a little mention of cold or snowy weather and all their streets close up...but im sure the northerners laugh at us. We get 4 inches of snow and school could be shut down for a few days. But the last two weeks we have been dealing with 1/2 inch of ice.....Im finished with winter weather....I want some HEAT!...think Im gonna move down south with Warhawk,......move over Mrs Warhawk....Timmayyy's moving in....lol
-
My wife still doesn't understand how I can go outside without something on my head in the winter weather. I'm like Tim (yeah that's scary), I like the crisp feeling!
-
Im serious though as much as you are Mike. The cold really doesnt bother my head. Its my damn feet that get cold. Everyone says well put on a hat and your feet wont get cold. Im like yeah what ever...thats like rubbing pain reliever on your ass cause you have a head ache...lol. To me having hair on your head is like skyscrapers in downtown chicago...its brutal cold when the wind whips thru those buildings...just like hair. But now its like the prairie plains of Kansas...the wind just blows right across the top.....lol...I know that was bad...so flatten my tires on my chair....I dont care.
LOL
Timmayyyyyy!

the second time I shaved my head (In high school) was three days after christmas. I remember it being ten below and absolutly freezing especailly when I would wait for the school bus which would take 20 to 30 minutes. I enjoyed my first head shave more because it was the summer time and I was in vacation in NC!
-
I hear ya and had to adjust to the cold and wear a hat
O:O
-
I was just snowboarding in the French Alps last week, super cold with wind chill!
But myself and my Dad (also bald) took our beanies off for a few runs and it was really awesome, really felt good on the old melon!! Not sure I could do it every day though!!
-
... I like the feeling of the brisk autumn morns on the noggin.
I am with the Rob, I love the coolness and all on the dome. Nature's on treatment for razor burn!!!
-
Yeah-- my head gets COLD!!!!
After a fresh shave, knitted winter hats slide right off my head. ???
Took a while to find a good fleece beanie with a snug fit that stayed put. :)
-
Just went out and bought myself a few wool knitted hats - - -We have cold weather in upstate N Y
