I found this out:
just after starting to shave, a few new hires came into work. I had to show the ropes to them.
Before I shaved, new people didn't take me serious. (I'm a shy guy, really). But somehow, the bald head demands respect or something. It seems to make me more "intimidating". not in a bad way, can't find the right word.. (yay for language barrier)

it's the "rub my head for wisdom" factor! I'm a quiet guy myself and have gone from clean shaven with a hair cut trying to minimise my hairloss, to shaved with large bushy beard! but still everyone that actually knows me, knows that I am a teddy bear at heart

The respect thing is true. I've been bald for less than a week and 3 people have randomly asked me if i was a cop.

Ok i got my first bad response, I was waiting at the shops with my grandfather and a little girl with her mother was scared of me, and she made her mother stay between me and her

I would definitely say this is true.

I would not assume that reaction was due to being sly. Many kids today are taught to keep their distance from strangers. Its the society we live in today.

Could have been the bushy beard and not the bald head. Not all young kids are use to large beards.

Bald is to be respected!!

Don't take it personally! Unfortunately, there are still negative stereotypes about bald guys. ALso, some kids are just shy and a bald guy can look intimidating.

I feel the same way! I get way more respect.
